Would You Purchase Again?

Take it for what it’s worth, I’m in several Gravity FB forums with similar annoyed owners. This forum can just as easily be filled with happy owners. When the sentiment changes in this forum, I’ll be ready to buy.

Forum is not a true reflection, people tend to post when they have issues. My Air is perfect….yet you still see some posts about issues.

Coming up on $200K for one spec'd the way I would want it.
Close to $150K for a well-spec'd non-turbo.
Gravity is a deal by comparison. Cayenne will have much better charging speed and possibly better handling/ride quality tradeoff, likely better software, much less interior space, dated looks.

Porsches are overrated and overpriced…….in my book…..

People said the same about MagSafe chargers for phones; and now almost everyone uses them on their bedside. If something is sitting overnight, a slightly less efficient charge is okay. Also, the Porsche wireless charging is surprisingly efficient. They claim it’ll do 48A (11kW) at 90% efficiency from grid to battery. That’s pretty awesome.

I like the potential of one day driving up to a parking spot and charging without getting out of the car. Who knows how far away that day is but appeals to me.

The EV Cayenne to me seems like the most comparable to the Gravity as an alternative with each having their own advantages/disadvantages. I priced the non-turbo which came to ~$145k with most options as in gravity plus some additional features (automatic doors, similar to X, ability to fog out sun roof like , etc.). Cayenne won’t ever have FSD-like capabilities but Gravity hopes to. Porsche isn't going out of business any time soon and has a huge dealer network/service centers to handle potential issues.

Still deciding if another $20k/$25k is worth it over Gravity. Essentially buying peace of mind.

@hmp10 could weigh in for himself, but he's had probably the worst ownership experience anyone could have with his Gravitys (he and his partner bought 2). He has openly mused on the forum about potentially being done with Lucid given the massive headaches he's had. Heck, half the bugs thread is his posts. And yet, even after all that, after one was recently totaled (within the past week, I believe), he turned around and ordered a new one in days.

I have a GDE. I have had probably an "average" experience amongst the early adopters here. I haven't had anything catastrophic happen - though I am a little concerned that with my low mileage thus far that I might have a drive issue - that's definitely still TBD. But I have had a lot of bugs, some of them annoying, some embarrassing, some I'm not that worried about. The car is a little embarrassing to take coworkers in, because something isn't going to work right - the seats are loud, the AC is loud, the handles are unreliable, etc. The fob issues are really embarrassing, yes, even on latest firmware and 3.3.9.

But there's nothing else out there I'd rather be driving. I still have my 2017 Model S (which still feels good to get in and drive BTW) but the Gravity drives and handles better, has a better driver's seat/cockpit area (my Tesla has horrible everyday storage for coffee cups, wallet, Kleenex, sunglasses, random stuff I need a space for when I'm driving), better build quality, has better range, charges faster, has a better sound system, holds 2-3x the cargo, seats more people more comfortably, has better headlights. The Tesla still wins for nav IMO, and it has a lot fewer glitches and bugs. I don't hate getting into the Tesla the way I instantly have fallen out of love with my previous "old cars" when a new one comes along, but I still happily reach for my Gravity key every morning and I'm disappointed when I have to drive the Tesla (which I do because my kid is learning to drive and sorry, she doesn't touch the Gravity yet).

For me, the Cayenne is probably the only car I'd consider as an alternative, and it's not out yet, and I think it's going to be a while and have its own issues. And it will cost a ton more. And won't have SC access (which is a dealbreaker for me on any other vehicle).

TLDR; I'd buy it again, warts and all. Doesn't mean I won't bitch about it, because misery loves company, and because I do hope Lucid is reading these forums. But I see my Gravity as my Model S 2.0.

I also have a GDE and basically the same; bugs are annoying sometimes but not catastrophic, the car itself (the HW) is great, I am confident they will fix the bugs, yes I'd buy it again

I see people post about getting the vehicle and being happy with the purchase. Then I see many of the same people complaining they have issues weeks or days later. Would those same happy folks continue to post if they had no issues?

I think early adopters of this car on this forum would continue to post even if no issues to discuss features, potential improvements, and general happiness about driving/owning the vehicle.

Understand, for me, I’m never buying a Porsche. And they are actually in big trouble, sales crashing and their Taycan was a flop, or at least not as successful as they hoped it will be. They charge too much and it’s coming back to bite them.

I’m not trying to drag out a response or be argumentative. My questions were real ones. The last time I’ve posted on a forum was back in the AOL-chatroom days. I honestly have no clue about what biases exist in automotive forums. Do most people come to complain? Do most come to share in the happiness of owning thie car? I don’t know but I see the sense of most coming to find comfort in sharing negative experiences (over positive ones) and looking for answers/help.

If I have to place a giant magnet in my garage and have it automatically pull the car into the same spot and snap it in place every time I would love it for my wife's car, as she has problems with "narrow" spaces
I also find it funny how the term "wireless" went from "acting at a distance" to "snap together with 1mm of plastic in between"

The day I got my car back, I thought man you know what maybe I was wrong. Maybe I should go back and say “actually yeah, I do like it! Would get again!”

And then today, after only 48 hours outside of service, the car won’t wake up with the app, meaning when I went to go to work it was cold as hell because it wouldn’t precondition, so I just took my Tesla again. All day I’ve been trying to see if my Lucid will wake up at home but nope, it just sits and spins. Why? Nobody knows. It’s just crazy.

@canucklehead In your situation I would wait for the initial kinks to be worked out. You will be a more satisfied customer if you don't have to deal with the teething issues.

Since you are so far from a service center it means you will have be without your car for several days in case of an issue. If that happens 2-3 times you will loose faith.

The software issues will annoy you as well. I got my Air in mid-2023 so I wasn't the earliest adopter but my experience was much better than people who bought DE's and early non-DE models. I still experienced several issues with cameras and audio after the software updates in the first 18 months. It's an issue when the 360 degree camera won't turn on in such a large car especially with the low height (not an issue for Gravity). It's annoying when you when you have bluetooth and carplay issues constantly. 2025 has been better except when hands-free assist was rolled out.

For most part now though it's a much better experience for me except when I need to use the phone to unlock the car - that's a story in itself ...

This is bizarre. I have a 2025 Air Pure and have had literally NONE of these issues he is experiencing. Software updates have been seamless. Turn signals never had an issue. CarPlay was a little buggy maybe, but works consistently. Granted i don’t have a motorized frunk so can’t comment there. But Homelink was super easy for me to set up on three garage doors.


So sorry to see his experience, But in my case, it is the best car I’ve ever owned (and I have a GGT but holding judgement for another few months!). Maybe I’m just lucky or he is just very unlucky.

And the cupholder?? That’s on him - presumably he test drove a car before he bought it and saw them there. that’s not a malfunction.

Your last sentence is the important statement to remember when using forums as part of your decision-making process.
Especially the "over positive ones" part.

I agree on the overpriced part, but disagree that they are overrated. They are engineered extraordinarily well and the driving dynamics are stellar. Pricing is ridiculous though.

I just finished watching the long Savage Geese video about the Gravity as well. That video by "Engineering Explained" isn't reassuring either. As much as I want to buy the Gravity, it seems like I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment. I'm probably better for now to keep my Model S and revisit this in a year. Or look at some alternatives like the upcoming Cayenne Electric or even an ICE alternative like the Audi SQ7.

I took delivery of a fully spec GGT right before Thanksgiving and am so far lucky enough with my car.
I honestly have not had any major issues with the car. Everything works so far. No issue with key fob or car not starting (one in ten times the screen takes 2-3 seconds to load instead of instantaneously).
Even my schedules charging works well (unless I look at the app and wakes up the car).
I do daily get the sensors issue/ high beam assist not available popping up but then it goes away a few minutes later. That’s the biggest bug that I’m dealing with.
