The HUD works for me fine with its current limited functionality. Sometimes it looks a bit skewed but it's hard to be certain. I'm pretty much assuming that it'll require a service visit when there is the eventual AR functionality rolled out, so I haven't seen any point on pushing on it for now.

I actually noticed that when I move my seat all the way down, the HUD is no longer skewed, so it's possible this has something to do with the specific angle at which I'm looking at the projected image. Unfortunately, I'm not that tall and can't keep the seat all the way down.
I've never had a car with a HUD before, so I can't really say whether the same issue applies to other brands. Honestly, it feels weird that I have to adjust my seat just to see the HUD properly in a $100k+ car.

I'll probably go to the showroom and compare how the HUD looks on another Gravity.

I think the issue is that while we’re all treating it and comparing it to a normal HUD it’s not, it’s an AR had that will have some depth / 3D element to it at some point and wondering if what we’re seeing is just the norm with AR HUDS.

I’ve never had a car with an AR HUD but many with normal HUDS and this by far is the most finicky to get a clear / focused view of it. Move your head slightly left or right and it goes out of focus which I’ve never experienced in other vehicles. It’s weird.
 
My HUD does not appear level, but I think it’s the curvature of the windshield. It’d be nice of there was an option to adjust the angle and make it appear level. It’s just pixels after all.
 
I decided to spend some time with it today, and I have a few observations.
1. If I let the car sleep and then enter it, 1 out of 5 times the HUD appears properly positioned and then gets abruptly skewed 10-20 seconds later. It feels like it loads some configuration which breaks the way the HUD looks.
2. Sitting inside the car and doing nothing, I noticed that the HUD gets slowly repositioned automatically. Sometimes it looks extremely bad and then adjusts itself so it's still skewed but at a minimal angle.
 
I took delivery last weekend of a GT with the Technology Package that gated either at the tail end of November or beginning of December. I don't have reflection problems. My SA noticed that there was felt/material on part of the housing around the "screen" that projects the image onto the windshield. He said that he had not noticed that on older Gravitys. Can anyone with an earlier Gravity confirm?

You also have no glare? That’s the one element stopping me from getting the tech package. Thanks.

I also have not noticed glare. The image is a little fuzzy/out of focus, sort of like the letters on the eye charts a doctor pops into their "view master" for your exam.

I'm not bothered by that, and hoping it will help me avoid missing exits as I have done way too many times in my Tesla, when I turn off the annoying voice reminders, and then don't pay enough attention to either the map or the signage! Duh.

I'm with you; don't care for distracting windshield cartoons. I feel the cockpit display is plenty "heads up" so I ordered Power but not Tech

I’m likely ordering with power also but the ambient lighting is pretty cool lol. I have heads up in the Volvo but I barely use it because you can’t see it with polarized sunglasses. I test drove the Cayenne and was surprised that my sunglasses didn’t block out their HUD. Guess they solved it.

I've found that the fuzzyness/blurriness decreases depending on your seating position and how high or low you move the HUD image.

Just circling back on my last post on this subject. SA in Short Hills, NJ said Lucid recently fixed the issue with the glare but couldn’t tell me what they did. I mentioned the fabric but he hadn’t heard of it. I also never heard back from my note to Lucid. Sorry, all.

I think the reflection isn’t going to be as prominent in the cloudier months so all those taking winter deliveries may think it’s not a problem but wait until the sun is back out again and it will no doubt show up. I’ve hardly seen the reflection in the last month but over summer I was almost seeing it daily.

I raised the reflection concern when the car was in the SC in November and was told nothing is wrong with it.

Well let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t miss it. The lighting never holds the chosen color and I’ll probably be halfway through my lease before Lucid gets around to enabling the AR on it at this stage.

I ordered my GGT without it. I used to turn off the HUD in th Audi Q5 we used to have. Also, I have a huge aversion to anything placed on the dash reflecting onto my windshield

I like the dynamic lighting. I’m curious if there are more instances of the newer deliveries having the felt installed to prevent the glare.

I do like the ambient lighting a lot (hopefully they can find a way to fix it so it holds your selection and to make it dynamic as promised) and I find the HUD (although super basic) useful for navigation. Someone here suggested a setting to have it turned on automatically during navigation only, I think that would be a good compromise (oh, I forgot this is the "compromise nothing" brand 🤣)

You can see why the HUD reflects so much - it's brighter than the white paper on the dash!

OTOH, FWIW, our lighting settings seem to be retained per driver profile. Weird, eh?
