What ICE would you get if EVs never happened?

I totally agree SUVs have their place. But where I've lived, mostly in large cities, they make far less sense. Harder to find parking. Worse mileage. Not a whole lot more interior space. And yet, they are just as popular there.
Correct, My daughter has a small Subaru SUV in Austin and what’s with the different Sizes which are no more than 6-12 inch longer like BMW X1-X7. She had a X-1 that she hated and traded in. It always had issues for her.

So does our used QX80. It was the cheapest one I could find with low mileage. Some warranty and a Price I was willing to Pay. It was cheaper than a Suburban. Those Infiniti’s are nice for a family of 4 with small children and their resale value at the time was the lowest of any other SUC. They also take premium Gas 🫣 at a mixed Avg of 15 Miles a gallon EPA 13/19

Probably a BMW 7 series. My husband really likes the DBX but the mileage is simply horrendous.

Polestar tuned V90. I love stealthy fast long roofs and the Swedish aesthetic. Doesn’t hurt that they have some of the best seats in the industry too.
Agree, there’s no better seats than Volvo/Polestar.

Before I learned about Lucid I had an AMG E63 wagon saved in the Mercedes configurator for over a year. I think it’s the pinnacle of luxury/sport/function as far as ICE cars go. Maybe the Audi RS6 Avant is a close second, but it’s not as configurable as the Merc and not as posh inside.

But the RS6 Avant looks SOOO GOOD!!

So is the Volvo V90 tuned by Polestsar? Maybe I should be buying more GGPI vs LCID 🤪

There’s the T8 plug-in hybrid version good for 400hp, motor tuned by Polestar. Very drool worthy IMHO. IF any made it to the states, they’re exceedingly rare. They may have ended up being Europe only. 😕

Well, my wife used to like my son’s Volvo V60. It looks like he may have totaled it this afternoon. Not a ton of body damage, probably $3k or so, but the airbags deployed. Just glad they only thing he got were some burns/bruises on his forearms from the airbag. Single car accident, so just a dk (dumb kid) move.

Probably the XC60 T8 plug-in hybrid SUV. They now are running AAOS, have Google Assistant and Google Maps native. And 400hp.

Best car I ever had was an Audi R8. Would love another some day. Oddly I sold it partially because of the attention I was getting. Pretty sure that my incoming GT will garner similar attention, but I’m older and better prepared for it this time. Lol

So sorry to hear that. I'm glad he came out of it relatively unscathed.

In an alternate universe where pure EVs don't exist but gas is just as expensive, what car would you have bought? Can lower your budget too as I'm assuming many people won't be as willing to spend more if it was just another ICE.

I haven't really checked luxury ICE but I was considering Rav4 Prime.
I’d go back to BMW 7 series. Had two and loved them both. But they are thirsty cars!

Yikes! Glad your kid’s ok. Also glad he was in a Volvo, though sad to see the car get wrecked. My old 1986 240GL wagon survived many a road trip, and several winters in Vermont. Luckily I never was able to test its fortitude in an accident but my mechanic had one in the shop for spare parts that had been hit by a train, owner walked away with minor bruises!

How do the Lucid seats compare?
I think the Volvo seats are slightly more comfortable, they fit me like a glove for some reason, but the Lucid seats are nicer and I think the massage function is great. One thing I really appreciate is the customizable thigh support, which I didn’t think I’d need because I’m short, but it turns out one pedal driving makes me like having that thigh support to hold my leg better. The seat cooling is so-so. Sometimes it does a great job and other times I’ll wonder if it’s on or not.

Audi R8 Spyder for sure. Terrible mileage, but my favorite car.
