I'm in the 15% with a Garmin, this looks awesome and would love to have something like this on my arm.It looks like Apple watches currently have about 50% market share in the USA, with increasing competition from Android at about 20%, Garmin around 15%.
As usual Apple is the easy choice if you want developer support.
Choosing other brands for their unique advantages may mean you may not get the support you'd like.
A combination of two niche products (Lucid + Android or Lucid + Garmin) has a much lower chance of support than one mainstream product plus one niche product, or the opposite.
My new front door entry lock will open up when approached with Apple digital keys, but Android support is still TBD.
You just need to find a retired engineer who owns a Garmin watch and a Lucid, and wants to try writing an app using AI tools.I'm in the 15% with a Garmin, this looks awesome and would love to have something like this on my arm.
@kandid may or may not be able to helpI was thinking of putting it on Google's app store as a beta-level release. I think it's ready and could do this with a little work navigating Google's process.
But I'm concerned about someone leaving their car's trunk open in a rainstorm and then wanting to blame me using lawyers.
No, it doesn’t. It demonstrates that enterprising consumers can do amazing things with AI now, when the sum total of their customers includes… themselves. This demonstrates that Lucid is inadequate regarding software.
We are all literally using Lucid’s API which, while unpublished, exists because they built it. The Python bindings and everything else the community has built rely on that API.It is unclear what issue exists there. Owners are creating tools that could assist others, yet Lucid stays at the blind side of delivering such things to owners.
I just looked into it as well...the self hosted option could be somewhat easy. As long as you have a static dns/ip, you could build the python server at home and just have it be the link between the garmin and lucid api? I haven't coded in years so i may be off baseA quick query of Claude suggests it would either need to talk through an endpoint of some kind (either self hosted, or something like AWS Lambda), or use a companion app running on the phone (probably easier to keep secure).
source? (/s)It’s okay to be happy and excited sometimes, and not everything requires criticism.
Look outside, find green grass on the ground, go roll in itsource? (/s)
I can set it up on Google's app store as a closed beta test. Google actually requires this and a certain amount of beta-level testing before any public release anyway. There would be a link that allows a controlled number of potential beta users to install the app. I'm thinking about doing that....@DeaneG at a minimum, you should toss it on GitHub and let people sideload. Does Android have an equivalent of “TestFlight”?...
Learning? What's that? Isn't that the thing AIs do?I'd like to put it on Github, but as an EE who stopped coding before public repositories and version control systems became commonplace, I've never used it and would have to find the time to learn.
Perfect, I'll just give Google's AI write access to GitHub and let it have a go!Learning? What's that? Isn't that the thing AIs do?
