We've gone several years now without an Android watch app for Lucid's vehicles. With AI arriving just in time to supplant my deteriorating cerebral capacity, I wrote my own for WearOS. It works great on my Pixel 5 watch. I'm very pleased with the result and will likely use it nearly every day.

The line of text just below the current charge percentage shows the car's nickname when not plugged in. Otherwise, it displays "Plugged In" if plugged in but not charging, or a lightning bolt icon and the current charging speed if charging.

There's also a tiny yellow polling status dot that appears briefly at the very bottom of the screen each time the app polls Lucid's Cloud API. The app connects to the car through Lucid's cloud, so it works when both the car and the watch have access to the internet (WiFi or LTE) - exactly the same mechanism as Lucid's phone app.

The Frunk, Door Locks, and Trunk buttons ask for user confirmation before sending their request to the cloud for safety.

Just the unlock button on my watch is worth the app. Just tap on wrist to wake the car up before I get to it is a dream. Nice work!

I was thinking of putting it on Google's app store as a beta-level release. I think it's ready and could do this with a little work navigating Google's process.
But I'm concerned about someone leaving their car's trunk open in a rainstorm and then wanting to blame me using lawyers.

I understand your concern. There are far too many folks out there that try to blame someone else for their own mistakes.

Put a stupidity clause in the description 😂

I could just send out the app's apk file and tell people they have to figure out for themselves how to sideload it. That's a pretty steep filter.

I plugged DeaneG's description into Claude and asked it to make an app. It did. Of course, I can't see if it works since I sold my Lucid and don't have an Android watch, but still ..... :)

This demonstrates that Lucid is inadequate regarding software.

You kind of find the bright side of everything, no?

It is unclear what issue exists there. Owners are creating tools that could assist others, yet Lucid stays at the blind side of delivering such things to owners.

According to Padre Pio 3 things are useless
"In my town they say there are three useless things: washing the head of a donkey, adding water to the sea, and preaching to sisters, friars, and priests."

On this forum; it useless trying to reason with @sri or @watermelonrooste that Lucid is doing anything good.

Lucid will be praised for things they do good(if ntot i would not have bought a Lucid nor i will be in the forum). Since they did something good, they will not get a pass to not deliver many.
Can you tell me a reason why Lucid couldn't develop an app for Android Watch in the last 5 years?
Hope you own a Lucid and preach to me here.

I use a Garmin too, so let me know if you do!
A quick query of Claude suggests it would either need to talk through an endpoint of some kind (either self hosted, or something like AWS Lambda), or use a companion app running on the phone (probably easier to keep secure).

Maybe compared to other priorities watch integration isn’t high?
