Update regarding Phone as a Key availability for Gravity owners

Okay. I just made myself laugh at the thought of any Lucid owner being happy.
lol...true, but who is to blame for that? I just told a SC manager after being disappointed in another recent experience that "you guys have made me a bitcher and complainer when I'm generally a very positive person!" So yeah...;-)

Lucid should certainly get credit for posting the update rather than letting the date quietly slide. But I think people defending Lucid here and telling those who are frustrated to simply “suck it up” are missing why this one landed harder than a normal delay.

It's the cadence. From the LucidTracker data, it's been 51 days since the last OTA hit the fleet. The average gap between releases is 28 days, and the average gap between actual feature updates is 87 days. So we're approaching 2x the normal release interval with nothing, and we're coming up on 3 months since a real feature shipped.

When updates are landing every few weeks, a slip on one feature is a shrug, something else is coming next week etc. so who cares. When the cadence is this slow, a single feature carries the whole quarter. PaaK was that feature, owners were told at events it was done and waiting on Apple, and it just went from "done" to Q1 2027 with no intermediate release in between. That's what people are reacting to, not the fact that Lucid posted.

Which is also where the communication could have been better. If there's an update coming soon, and after 51 days there should be, the post should have said so. "PaaK is slipping to Q1 2027, but here's what's landing in the next few weeks" is a completely different message than a bare delay notice. It tells owners the pipeline is still moving. Instead we got the bad news on its own, into a 51-day silence, and were left to fill in the rest ourselves.

PaaK isn't the only thing on the clock. The March roadmap listed AI Assistant, V2H, Enhanced Auto Park, Video Streaming, and hands-on city driving all for 2026. It's October, If some of those or all of them are slipping too, saying so now is far better than a series of one-line posts in December, or worse, silence and the year just ends. The frustration in this thread is the predictable result of finding out late. Getting ahead of the rest of the list is how Lucid avoids repeating it.

We can thank them for the communication but people can still be disappointed by what it said. Both are fair.
The other issue what all these delays is that Lucid is now really falling behind other manufacturers when it comes to tech. It'd be hard to appeal to people just looking for great driving dynamics but not concerned about tech features or service availability.

By tech, do you mean software?
If so, I agree.

Maybe I just don't understand the tech, but 8 years ago I got my fob-less Tesla M3 and I used my phone every time and never had an issue. So what is taking so long that would be worth improving on this? I know they're doing it differently in the Wallet but like, it can't get better than working 100% of the time, so why wouldn't they just do it the same way Tesla did and be done with this madness?
I believe there are well documented security holes with the fob technology Tesla was using at that time. Lucid is adopting the latest-and-greatest radio protocols for fobs, and also taking advantage of brand new support for that in (I think) both Android and iOS. They could have done as you suggest, at the expense of making it easier for people to steal a vehicle. As with so many high-tech security flaws, the flaw itself doesn't enable much crime, because the sort of people with the skills to take advantage generally have better things to do with their time. But now that off-the-shelf tools are available, there's a much lower bar for exploiting the security flaws in your 8 year old M3.

Gravity has been out for less than two years, not THREE.
Indeed. A bit less than 18 months from the first US deliveries in 2025. A few were delivered to "some employees, family, and friends" at the very end of 2024, still less than 2 years. Also still less then 2 years from the date one could first order one.
