Tired of lack of Android support

If android auto is super important to you, you can get the carlinkit device mentioned elsewhere on this forum. Yes, it is not native and that is annoying, but it satisfies your goal. Meanwhile, android has an app… it’s not like there is nothing…the new iOS app looks very nice but, other than retaining the last known tire pressure, introduces no new features at this time.
I can appreciate that the iOS version of the app is nothing new at this point, however telling someone that has spend $100K on a car to go out and buy an adapter if you want the car to work with your phone is absurd.

Can they do anything about googl dragging their feet? No, but if we aren't free to voice frustrations or concerns in the forum without being told to get over it, what's the point to the forum?

Sorry, but the comment is out of line imo.

It’s not out of line, It’s a suggestion to compensate for a shitty situation. He even said it’s not ideal but if you can’t wait then something exists.

I think the majority agrees that it shouldn’t have taken Lucid this long and no one is blaming people for venting. You / they have every right to be annoyed and are free to post those annoyances here, just as others are allowed to offer suggestions, disagree etc.

Absurd? No, it’s a solution. Your attitude is absurd.

[ Once it gets delivered, everybody will be happy, and this and other Android topics can hopefully fade into the background of old posts.
Will it? It won't be perfect. Some will be happy, many will be satisfied, and the rest will want be next version immediately

I anticipate a long thread called “Android Auto Issues.”

Lucid has said, on this very forum, that it is being held up by Google and is outside of Lucid’s hands. I’m not entirely sure what you would prefer they do; they aren’t buying Google. :)

Buying Google won't help. I already did that. Not all of it, though. It won't fix the problem, but I could sell 600 shares or so and buy another Lucid...or something that works with Android Auto and makes me wonder why I'm driving it when I could be using the Lucid.

When life has such huge problems such as not having Android Auto soon enough, I wonder how people can sleep at night.

You obviously didn't buy enough. Buy the whole thing next time

I'm really getting tired of the lack of Android support by Lucid, whether it be no Android Auto or the new app experiences being released for iOS only with Android coming "in early 2025" with no date specified. When is early...Jan? Feb? March? April? Is this the same timing as AA being available in late Fall? I get that AA is in testing, but it's been the better part of a year since CarPlay was released.

Lucid is choosing not to prioritize Android, which is their right to do, but after 2 years of ownership I'm not interested in continuing to prioritize investing in an ongoing 2nd tier user experience, or recommending others do so.
Couldn't agree more. Come on, Lucid folks, give some love to the Android side, eh?

The point of this forum is most certainly not to vent. We make that pretty explicit here, including in our guidelines.

The point of the forum is to help people who need information or are looking for workarounds or solutions.

There are thousands of places to vent on the internet. This is not one of them.

I am currently using my Android-OS Lucid-App right now on a Pixel 9 Pro XL with no issues and the current Android version (Vanilla Ice Cream) 15.

Android 11 (Red Velvet Cake) came out 5 years ago. Most Apps probably aren't going to work, not even Waze at this point.

I admit I myself also usually hold-out every 3 or 4 models too (about every 4 years) because software versions start getting buggy-ish and don't update. I loved my Nexus 4 with KitKat.
Pixel 6, 7, & 8 phones are pretty cheap right now and still can handle the recent Android 15 (Vanilla Ice Cream). Pixel 7 can handle up to Android Version 18.

I feel your pain. If it "ain't broke, don't fix it" makes sense to me, but time marches on! As Rush says, "..he knows changes aren't permanent, but change is!"
Just got the same phone, works well with this iteration. had to unpair and pair a few times to get it to stick, but it's working fine.

My Pixel 9 pro mobile key is also working well. After reading positive comments in this forum, I thought I'd give it a try. Left the fob in its Faraday pouch and have passive unlock turned off so the car won't twitch every time I walk past it.

I've been using the Pixel 9 Pro XL mobile-key and App functions without any issues. I looked at the "Top 10" list of the OTA updates and somehow Android Auto did not make the cut. I find this strange when the market share of Android phones is 71.8% versus Apple is 17.4% (Apple is a lower-quality experience in my opinion when you look at the numbers Apple usually hides from Johnny Public).

Globally, that's true but the US is a different story. Apple has 58% to Android's 40%.

fwiw, I'm an android user. :)

True!

Now we need to demand BlackBerry OS Navigation as well, or so I can at least hook up my Palm Pilot VII and Commodore 64 with the 1541 floppy disk drive!
I wouldn't be sad if an 8-track tape was a Surround Sound Pro ++ option, or Minidisc.

Whether for their EV or their smartphone, it would be interesting to see the relative propensity of iOS and aOS users to RTFM. :-)

If we're going there, hell, put a punch card reader in. :) I'm sure I can find a stack of Fortran for navigation!

Honestly, the Android Auto / Apple CarPlay thing doesn't matter much; here's why:

My Cadillac CT6 (sold) had a Navigation as Native (through a USB map update) on their "CUE" dash system, or you could burrow-into the Native OnStar App in "CUE" and there'd be MORE Apps, one of which was Nav, or you could use Android Auto which would have Google Maps Nav and Waze Nav, or you could press the physical OnStar button above the rearview mirror, and they'd send ANOTHER Nav guidance through your HUD and it'd be a completely DIFFERENT Nav than the OnStar App Nav. That's FIVE NAVs! Which Nav do I choose? Do I update them all? Can my Nav have a Nav?

Streaming audio was the same. You could listen to Native CUE SiriusXM via the L-Band antenna or you could stream it via making your phone a WiFi Hotspot, or you could run it from the Android App SiriusXM and then send it via Bluetooth or wired, or you could run the native Android Auto SiriusXM into the CUE system via bluetooth or wired via USB-A or USB-C, or you could open a Chrome browser on your phone and log into the web-based SiriusXM and stream it via T-Mobile into your phone, then transmit it as a Bluetooth player into the CUE system as "Bluetooth audio" or you could listen to it as a wired USB-drive system via USB-A or USB-C. Like 10 ways to listen to SiriusXM. Same goes for Tidal, Pandora, Spotify, No-Heart-Radio, etc. Nuts.

I'm content with Lucid's onboard systems, but if I get antsy, I can resort to audio-only Bluetooth Waze with its embedded Pandora + and keep the Lucid Nav up for reference visually.

Honestly, all this tech is unnecessary. I don't even need any of the cameras. My Corvette had none of this, or my Firehawk, or my Lotus Elise, or any other sports car I've ever owned. Not needed, though I miss having a clutch. ;p The car itself drives amazing. Suspension is amazing. Acceleration is amazing. It's enough. The tech is a frosting-on-a-cake unnecessary distraction. I wish Lucid had none, maybe just 2 good speakers and a Bluetooth receiver with only an on-off LED light, completely blank. All unnecessary fluff.

I've been a very passionate driver and vehicle enthusiast since the day I could drive, maybe before. I've never known a car that has this level of acceleration and handling; some came close. Lotus does a slightly better job at road feel, but acceleration is poor-ish; and their bug-a-boos and gremlins dominate. Lamborghini is far worse and honestly doesn't accelerate as well, nor handle as well, neither can Ferrari. I've driven all Corvettes and their variants from C3 to C8 and I can say they don't accelerate as well, though some of the newer ZR1s are marginally better in lateral g's, the road feel is punishing like the Lotus. I've owned cars showcased in Car & Driver, such as the Pontiac Mallet Solstice 006 with hand-made suspension systems and Wilwood brakes. I've owned luxurious cars that wafted with magnetic ride control, and Cadillac's best flagships, as well as BMW 3/5/6/7/8 Series and Mercedes top-dogs. None do "all the things" like Lucid Air Dream Performance. I need "go" and "turn" and, if I'm allowed, suspension comfort. I get all of those! I'm good. No other car does all of these things to the level the DE-P does. The Bugatti Chiron gets close to it.

Originally I scoffed.. now I'm a Lucid cultist, and "take the knee" to Peter Rawlinson. (holy sounds to 1111 Hp).
