I didn't go through the whole thread, but I have seen an issue noted in other posts - the car did not automatically lock after walking away. This has only happened once, last week. Several colleagues told me that my car headlights were on. I opened the app and sure enough, it was unlocked. So I locked it but after locking, the app seemed to freeze. Force closing and reopening the app showed it was locked but at that point, I walked back out to the parking structure to make sure...
Do you think that there should be a notification when the doors lock? A short horn beep, a notification to your phone or something else?
Just stop and look back. If you are in an area where you are concerned, press the door handle to cause an immediate lock.

I hate when cars make noise when they lock, so I’d be against the Air doing that. But maybe as an option for those who are worried, they could have it honk the horn or something. But like Bobby said, just lock it manually if you are worried.

I always look over my shoulder, because I’m paranoid. With very few exceptions, it always locks.

Be sure you haven’t left any form of key in it, of course. One of the few times it didn’t lock, we found that my wife had left her fob in her coat in the frunk. So of course it didn’t lock.

Yeah, it has only happened once but I think I need to get used to pressing the door handle before walking away. My other car flashes its light when I lock it (or honks horn if I press twice) so I'm used to the feedback.

The horn does beep when I use my fob to lock it… but only if it’s already locked.

Isn't that how all cars work?

I haven't seen this one reported before: A few times at a fast charger I've gotten out to plug in, leaving my door open and phone (mobile key) inside. Then I get right back in the car and close the door. Seconds later the car goes to sleep, shutting off all the displays and locking the doors. I assume a hard pull on the door opener would still let me out, but so far I've only tried opening the mobile app on my phone to unlock it. I have automatic locking enabled and automatic unlocking disabled. Maybe this is just a variant of the "mobile key not detected" bug, but I haven't actually seen that message in a while. It does regularly sound the "going to sleep" alarm while I'm sitting there though, maybe that's an indication that it has no idea I'm sitting there? Even with the driver monitoring camera watching my face and my phone/key in the wireless charger?

Obviously, detecting me better would be great, but I'd also settle for being able to wake the car back up from the inside somehow. Why not wake up if I push a button on the steering wheel or tap on the pilot panel?

Just press the brake pedal and the car will wake up.

I think the camera only detects for the first facial recognition for profile, and then when you're driving. That's it.

Good to know. That kind of makes sense, but definitely wasn’t intuitive to me. I suppose my iPhone has trained me that screens should wake up when I poke them, heh.

Folks keep saying they wish the Lucid had a Start button. But the brake has always been a Start Button.

Perhaps both could be implemented? I dont think he meant like a virtual start button, it would be nice if you just tapped into the black display, it detects it(this would be a waste of power sampling touch inputs though...), and then it wakes up. I would also love for a optional virtual start button to be placed on that far left display, kind of like a Porsche. Options are always good!

I guess I just thought of the brake as the “start driving” button, not the “wake up” button, as the car is always awake when I get into it already.

When I was visiting San Francisco this summer, I was driving around a BMW for the duration. Every time I got into the car—every time—I sat there in the stale air, wondering why nothing was happening. Then I remembered—the stupid START button.

Start is a relic of the ICE age. There is no purpose for it in a modern car. When I am ready to drive, I put my foot on the brake for safety then shift it into gear. Before then, I want my AC, lights, CarPlay, and everything else in the car operating, so I can prepare everything I need before I start moving. That way, I have no reason to be fiddling with anything once I start moving.

There are zero occasions when I want to sit in my car and not have climate control running. Or access to my infotainment.

Normally, I'm all for options. This is one of those things where the option no longer makes any sense. It'd be like giving people dial on their tv for changing channels, or a computer with a floppy disk drive.

Sometimes technology actually advances and people just need to reprogram their heads away from things that no longer serve a purpose.

Not sure this is a bug or not, but my 360° camera takes about 45 seconds to boot up fully and to a point that I don't even find it useful for me anymore because it takes me less time to get inside the car and put it in reverse and start driving. Is anyone else having this issue?

45 seconds is about normal. I do wish they'd cut that down a bit, but that's just what it takes currently. So there's nothing wrong with your car.

Yet another reason I don't want a START button. Would that that much longer for the cameras to be ready.

This is rarely an issue for me, as I usually wake the car up while walking to it, pop the frunk, take my time settling in, etc. So by 45 seconds, I'm usually just ready to pull out.

Also, I tend to reverse into spaces, so I can pull forward out of them.

But yes. Hoping they can optimize that loading time eventually.

I have tested the camera bootup sequence thoroughly. The average time is 39 seconds from the moment the car is first unlocked. In this case, it has nothing to do with when you “start“ the car with the brake pedal. My suggestion for the original poster is a he simply unlock the car with the app when he’s getting ready to leave and the camera will be ready to go when he jumps in.

As far as having a start button goes, I generally agree with you on this one. There are a couple of edge cases that make it useful. I have a start button in my I Pace. It’s nice if I just want to park and have everything off, including the lights and climate control. Also, if I am on an important call and I don’t want Bluetooth/CarPlay to take it over, I will finish out the call before I tap the button.

Forget the start button. How about shut ALL the lights off button.
It's difficult to have sex in the car with the lights on.

I'm so programmed now on my Lucid that when I take out my BMW once a week, I automatically turn on my wipers everytime I park, and I walk away with the car still on. Behaviors are hard to break to the point where I have to force remind myself the start / off cadence everytime I jump in the BMW now.

There's over 60 computers that all need to fire up simultaneously and work together, I think that takes a bit of time to get the 360 working. For me though, by the time I get near my car and it turns on, to putting on my shoes, opening garage, sitting inside and adjusting climate, putting on the GPS from the touchscreen, it's usually all good to go.

And when I'm not home, I usually check temperature in the car to check whether or not I need to run climate controls before I reach the car (hot day, or cold day) so things are usually booted up and ready to go there too
