Software 3.3.20 Update

As @hmp10 said, my issue has been having to switch posts/stations, not being totally unable to charge at SCs. I have a 700 mile road trip this weekend and will be able to report back on how Gravity behaves.
I charged at an SC this morning and worked on first attempt.

I drove 700 miles on Monday with the new update. Stopped at 3 Tesla chargers and one Ionna charger. No problems with any of them. Hit peak speeds each time. That's my experience tho.
Phew! Sooo glad to hear that. On Saturday I'm setting out on a +500 mile trip for the holidays and while I'm planning to leave home with a 100% SoC, I am counting on being able to use a Supercharger along the way.

Yeah, I hope you and everyone else traveling for the holidays has no problems with charging or anything else with Gravity! I will be heading on a 400 mile trip for the holiday myself and hoping for the same results I just had on the previous trip.

I think it may be a Tesla issue. I will know more after my roadtrip this weekend. As long as it works at one stall, I am fine having to try a couple first. I need to look on the Tesla app to see if a stall is marked as be g unavailable as they don’t typically use physical signs/tape when they’re broken.

I may try EA this weekend to check, but I’m not really in the mood to hang in the far corner of a Walmart parking lot, which is where most EA chargers I’ve been to in mid Atlantic are located…

I wish the EV planner could show the status of the Tesla chargers. They’re all just flagged as “unknown” at the moment.

Yep. We have an X and a Y and so I will use the Tesla app this weekend to see the various statuses. I would think Tesla has an open API for status given the network is open to so many brands now and it would be helpful for Tesla to manage traffic at SCs. Probably needs to be integrated…

I WAS able to find a stall at each SC that worked and gave me 220+ kw! So that makes me think it could certainly be a stall specific issue. We shall see. I love testing!

I might have thought that, too, had we not had similar issues with EA charging on the same trip. As bad as EA charging has been for the last four years, it had been working consistently with the Gravities until now.

My road trip this weekend will help as I am going to places I’ve been - so no fear of being stranded with no charger nearby and I’ve had no issues with the SCs I plan to go to.

It’s fairly common for certain stalls - especially at EA - to just be broken with no indication (my personal experience). So if I can find a stall at a location and it works, I am still inclined to think it’s a Tesla or EA issue not Lucid.

I didn’t pay enough attention prior to 3.3.20 to remember if I ever had a stall issue. So, could all be coincidence. Don’t know.

I am going to test my L2 issue with our Tesla mobile charger, Rivian wall connector and Lucid mobile charger tonight and tomorrow to see what’s up. Again, I don’t know for certain I didn’t receive the error prior to 3.3.20 as I didn’t pay a ton of attention because a) the car does charge to the limit I set before it throws the error and b) it was warmer so it wasn’t losing range as quickly after it charged and sat in our driveway.

I got the steering wheel email today too. I figured it was auto generated after my call with service yesterday regarding my DD not working anymore. I guess they sent lots of them out. I just hope they can actually get the part in soon!

I just got an email from Lucid Customer Care:

"Following the latest software update to your Lucid Gravity, we have identified that a component in your vehicle needs to be replaced to ensure full compatibility with DreamDrive features."

I called to see what this entailed. It seems the steering wheel must be replaced, but they couldn't tell me whether than means taking the car to a Service Center or whether a mobile tech can do it. They also couldn't tell me whether some hardware issue might be involved in the disruption to DCFC since the update. (This car has already had the rear drive unit replaced.)
Was this regarding the first one or the... third one?

I wonder if this is why DD hasn't worked for us the past two weeks. We're in service now and I noted that, so I assume we'll get this repair/replacement if needed. Weird.

interesting how diff EA experience is on the west coast. Totally fast and reliable out in Northern/Central CA for my wife's Taycan...we'll see w/ Gravity

First one, delivered in June.

We've had the same experience, but this time the stall was working. It just took four tries to get the charge to initiate using plug-and-charge. On the second or third attempt (don't remember which) the stall was ready to charge, but only if I used a credit card or logged in through an EA account (which I don't have). On the fourth attempt the stall said I wasn't on the Lucid charging plan, but while I was scratching my head about what to do next, the charge session finally initiated.

If it had been raining while I was futzing around with the Supercharger issues and then the EA issues I would have called Lucid to cancel delivery of the new Gravity and just turned around and gone back home. There's only so much of this never-ending sequence of issues that I can take, and I was getting very near even on a clear day.

It's fine here. We've talked about it in the past, but the east coast does not have nearly as good of an experience with EA for whatever reason. It's not perfect here, but I don't find it leaves me annoyed very often, and there are soooo many stations to choose from there is no shortage of options.

Fwiw, we did not get the email, so it isn't every owner that got it. Likely there are a lot of bum steering wheels?

I gotta say, it is really neat they can diagnose these things remotely now. I'm glad they have that functionality.

I also did NOT get the steering wheel email. I don't use DD a whole lot, but fortunately I haven't experienced any issues to date.

I did get an email from Lucid customer service saying that my charging issue requires repair; that there is a "module that will need to be replaced in order to correct the charging issue."

So it's apparently a hardware issue - unclear if the new software exposed a preexisting issue, or if it's just a coincidence. I also don't know what "module" it is yet....

Hmm have any other users tried charging at at Tesla supercharger since the update? If so, any issues?

This morning I went to a Tesla Supercharger station and to an Electrify America station in Naples to see what happened. The Gravity charged flawlessly at both.

So either, by coincidence, both the Tesla SC and the EA station we used three days ago on the trip to Miami were malfunctioning, or the issues were with the car itself.

I tend to think the latter for four reasons:

1) While we have a checkered history with EA charging, in ten years of driving Teslas I cannot recall a single instance where a Supercharger malfunctioned.

2) Software issues come and go in the Gravity constantly.

3) On the Miami trip the audio system was also malfunctioning, with the car streaming Spotify but not Tidal, nor would the USB sticks in either of the ports in the front console work. All three of these sources were functioning today.

4) When I got in the car this morning the state-of-charge display had switched from percentage to distance, something we never do but that the car has done several times before. (There have been numerous instances of other settings on the screens randomly switching or features turning on or off.)

Thus I'm much more inclined to attribute the numerous issues we had on the Miami trip to the Gravity's continuing software instability rather than to a pile-up of simultaneous issues with Tesla, Electrify America, Tidal, and SanDisk.

I tend to think the latter for four reasons:
Curious - did you try a hard reboot? Not an excuse but it clearly is a work-around for many software issues.
