Service Mode Removal?

I believe you may not be up to date in it/iot risk management. Like the power usb sockets that can inject viruses into your phone. And I’m oh so excited about plugging an unknown Russian device into anything I own. But you do you and tell us how well it works.

Its just a media converter. You can probably buy any media convertor. Intrepid is a well known brand in industry. I believe they are actually American.

I definitely agree with you, I'm just saying cars have been proven to be repairable and having more lucids on the road would be a great thing for the brand recognition. If a car was to fall apart due to someone poorly putting it back together is a different story.....
Which would impact the brand, if the car caused injury or death. The headline wouldn’t be “owner repaired salvage car kills 2”. It would be “Lucid ev goes rouge, kills 2”

So yes more Lucids would be good, but not if they are salvage vehicles waiting to cause destruction.

Now then I do agree that those who’ve taken their car somewhere there’s no service available. But consider that if the car isn’t where it’s supported then how did it get put into service mode? If I’m not mistaken it requires Lucid to put it into and out of service mode.

These are sdc. Software defined cars. That doesn't mean Lucid (or Tesla, ford,Nissan etc) own them. That would be called a lease. If I choose to attach (even sketchy) hardware to MY car, I can. They can void my warranty, refuse updates, delete my account, that is their choice. Having said that, I'm not likely to do that, because even though I'd really like to see the internals, I like driving my car even more. If I follow correctly the hardware is just a USB/Ethernet adapter, probably need one with a particular chip set to allow it to work. If you buy a reputable brand the risk is low. The actually sketchy part is what they are doing with that access. There probably isn't a menu with a choice to en/disable service mode. Are they running hacked versions of Lucids diagnostic software? Editing tables in firmware? Playing doom? I believe in right to repair. In a software defined world if the software is kept from you, you don't own anything
