I have a car that parallel parks quite well. My question is about current tv commercials where folks have their cars park in front first between two other vehicles where there is little space to park and then get out of the car. If the space is that tight aren’t the folks on either side going to find it hard to get into their vehicles and won’t it end up denting your doors or chipping the paint? Seems to be more of a parlor trick than something useful…..

I thought the same thing when I saw it. I would never want to put my car in that jeopardy.

One time it would be useful is if you came back to your car and someone after you parked very close to your driver side. While they could still get out of their driver side easily, you would be glad you be able to auto back your car out.

I have not yet to try auto park feature, I’m waiting for many others to successfully try it and put online first. It’s too nerve racking watching steering wheel moves by itself.

We've used Tesla's similar "summon" feature to remotely drive our Model 3 into a deep puddle in the only remaining parking space, and to drive back out of the puddle again before we got back into the car. It was pretty handy. But their self-parking feature is a risky parlor trick.
