Hello everyone,

Anyone know if Lucid allows retrofitting DreamDrive Premimum on vehicles sold with the base version of Dream Drive?

Thanks.

To my knowledge, no. There was a period of time where you could "upgrade" to DDP from the free trial, although it depends on when you car was made. When was it made?

I don't think that you can upgrade DreamDrive to DreamDrive PREMIUM, though. I agree that this should be made an option as it is purely software. Perhaps you could ask people from Lucid if this is possible... @mcr16 ?

May vary by country as well.

Dream drive lacks the hardware to simply upgrade to premium. So I don't believe it's a purely software upgrade.
This is correct since there are more cameras on the DDPro and DDPremium cars.

It depends on what Hardware came with your car. Although you might only be using dream drive presently, your car might have the equipment for dream Drive premium and cream Drive Pro just not active.

Did you try logging into your account on the Lucid website?

The dashboard should list your car and a menu below with "Upgrades". Check to see if DDPro is an option.

Here is what Google AI said... I think it is hallucinating based on the cost of the "upgrade" when specing a new model online?

Asking an LLM for answers just doesn't make sense and I wish all these new assistants would quit trying to pretend. They don't have answers, they aren't reasoning, they just put words together in an order that sounds nice and call it a day.

I remember looking at a Touring that didn’t have Premium and was told “no problem”. The service center can easily add the cameras & modules.

This was in Germany but I have a feeling that due to the low production volume (100 cars a year) a lot of cars will be retrofitted to meet an order spec. rather than ordering a new one from the factory. All the pre-wiring is there anyway, disregarding the actual options.

But getting this done post sale will be a different story (and price).

I considered buying a used one. I asked and they had to look up the particular VIN. They said that that particular one could have been upgraded. I went for a new one instead, but when I checked on a different one before that, I was told that they can't give out information on somebody else's car (i.e. can't give info just because I have a VIN) so it comes down to who you ask. When I did get answers it was at the showroom in Newark.

Ask nicely? You still need the LiDAR sensor for the "grille" under the front hood camera too plus the trim that allows for it. Probably a few other bits and bobs to get it all connected.

I actually find this thread kind of comical. Just a few months ago owners were saying that Pro was a giant waste and not worth the money. Now we have folks asking how to upgrade to it. We certainly have come full circle!

Only Lucid can speak for Lucid on this, but you have to consider that they may not want to offer the software as an upgrade to a car that wasn't equipped with the hardware. If you add it yourself, they won't warrant it for you. And if they do allow you to add the software and it doesn't work, they may charge you to get it working. Its also not clear whether they even have a hard and fast policy for this specific situation, so even if you ask somebody at Lucid, it's not clear whether you'd get consistent answers. You might get a lot of people saying that they don't have a definitive answer.
