Q1 deliveries much worse than expected

Seems some big fish unloading Lucid stock. I think we are week away for close or private. This turns out to be a too bad investment. A week of daily %5+ drops, seems unable to find a bottom. If Lucid has something to show they might have posted something by now.
It seems all this days they bluffed about partnerships and its hard to believe if they talked with so many of them not even single partnership materialized.
They won’t go private, that’s suicidal. They wouldn’t have announced new CEO, uber partnership. And being a fully Saudi company means disaster for sales. After earnings I’m pretty sure it shoots up. Just buying more every dip!

That is advanced tax planning right there - just think of all the losses you are accumulating to offset gains elsewhere!

Not for PIF
Disagree, once they make it a full Saudi company, sales collapse in international markets. Their autonomy will be scrutinized as security issues and face huge regulatory burden beyond what other US companies face. Talent will leave without stock incentives. They lose all credibility in US markets if they ditch and run. It’s better long term to just continue to support and trudge along.

As I said before, unveil the midsize. Give people something to talk about and look forward to. Or the Lucid Gravity X. SOMETHING!

The silence as things get worse is only getting deafening. Secrecy is not in anyone's interest right now.

Depends on the secret 🤫

I am sure they’ve weighed the pros and cons and have decided it is better for people not to see it in its current state. For better or worse.

Yeah, I think that to me is the concerning part. If prototypes are being shown around, why can't potential consumers see it? We have seen prototypes of vehicles for years before they were able to make it to market. Deliveries beginning later this year, even if just for employees, just seems really doubtful. They could really use some hype. The R2 is doing wonders for Rivian.

Getting some reservations going would also bode well for them. Interest free loans from the anxious public. Keep some hype going and distract from some current shortcomings. I'm sure they have their reasons though, hopefully they are not as concerning as they appear from the outside.

I am in favor of the long term game, they now have runway, they don't need to make mistakes. Sit back and watch and see how Rivian does with R2 rollout and try not to make the same errors, or learn what works well and do that. Fortunately or unfortunately, bagholding impatient retail investors aren't a real cohort worth keeping. The auto market in the US is already in a downward trend regardless of powertrain from YoY sales so it's basically uninvestable if you are trying to keep up with the index benchmark this year.

Interest free loans are anything but. Money must kept set aside for cancelations, a large group of people who feel they are entitled to push for design changes is enabled, influencers griping about delays, every design change (e.g. dropped colors or options) brings howling from the masses of deposit holders.

Better to lock in the design, show it and start accepting deposits within a month or two of delivery.

And they showed that robo taxi thing now that you mention it

To be honest, I don't think showing the midsize is going to move the stock drastically at this point in time. Anything positive Lucid does doesn't really drive the stock up but seems to drag it down further. I used to have a running joke with friends where Tesla would have a good quarter, the stock remained flat but if a Tesla caught on fire, the stock would go up. It's almost like bets have been placed for these companies to fail.

I will agree though, that the longer Lucid delays showing the midsize rumors and speculation will start to run rampant about it not being delivered on time. It's a pretty strange approach to be holding out this long if production start is slotted for 8 months time. Maybe they're taking a go hard or go home approach this time round, don't market something over 12, 18 months etc. but throw everything at the wall in the 6 month lead up to launch so its in people faces so much they will know what it is and not have them forget and move on. If the car isn't shown by June \ July at the latest, I don't see how it's hitting production by year end.

The stock price isn't going to move until Lucid actually delivers on its promises though. Seems the market has woken up to their ambitious statements and never delivering on them so now it's a case of put up or shut up!

Stock is just too cheap!

Uh oh - this is a sign of wishful thinking. When a stock is trading at $7, do you know how much further it can fall? Exactly $7. Anchoring at what it once was is a classic human nature bias.

Interesting that the PIF is bailing on the LIV golf tour - they are going through a rationalization of spending and making decisions about what makes sense.

Lucid has already missed the window to get the midsize out before Rivian - so it will be irrelevant for buyers who were ready to make a move and went with the R2. Now it puts even more pressure on Cosmos to be demonstrably better than R2 on all fronts, and that is a very big ask.

Too bad with as many people who have turned their backs on Tesla that Lucid hasn’t really positioned themselves to be a beneficiary of those sentiments for volume sellers. Model Y and Model 3 still sell in high quantities, mostly because of a lack of significantly better choices (up until now).

Disagree, Lucid sold more Airs than model S.

It’s not a competition to get a midsize out first, just because Rivian did it. That’s where you fall flat on your face.

Stock only down because of the earnings miss due to 29 day stop sale. Nothing fundamental has changed. Market cap is 1/10th of Rivian.

Thats why I’m loading up here.

I keep seeing people stating that more Air's are sold than Model S's. I never see a time period nor a quality source for the statement cited.
I don't doubt it. But since Tesla rolls S, X and Cybertruck sales together and Lucid rolls Air and Gravity together for quarterly and annual sales, the statement may rely questionable data.

Its ATL everyday during close since last week. Seems we will see 5’s tomorrow and may be Lucid dont need to host an earnings call if this follows until end of this month.

If it reaches 5, I’ll take a HELOC and buy more!
