Q1 deliveries much worse than expected

Disagree, Lucid sold more Airs than model S.

It’s not a competition to get a midsize out first, just because Rivian did it. That’s where you fall flat on your face.

Stock only down because of the earnings miss due to 29 day stop sale. Nothing fundamental has changed. Market cap is 1/10th of Rivian.

Thats why I’m loading up here.
So the Air outsold a car that was selling in such low quantities that it was literally discontinued entirely - that’s not the win you think it is. Do you think there is a massive market of buyers just patiently waiting for Cosmos?

I have news for you - outside of this forum and the EV/car industry, most people have no idea what Lucid is even is. The midsize market is huge with a lot of competition and name brand awareness makes a difference - as does being first to market, not last - unless you are so much better than everything that came before you in all metrics. The stock is down for a very extended period of time, for reasons much greater than a one month stop sale.

I'm not an investor of lucid, but from the perspective of an outsider I would say confidence in the PIF continuing to back Lucid is shaky at best despite the recent dribble of a $750MM commitment. Unlike Elonmuskrat, the Saudis don't have the conviction of doubling down when the odds are not in their favor. From what I've seen they take a pragmatic approach to investing, hedging their bets and taking fewer risks in stark contrast to full on meme action that is fueling all of the hottest stocks. And despite being memes at this point, at least AI and aerospace are still showing real examples of their product in action - advanced agents breaking extremely hardened projects daily or lighting up the most powerful and cheapest rockets ever made.

I agree with HG_79. Either Lucid and the PIF put their money (billions more) and execution where their mouth is (cosmos shown running, all gravity issues fixed, software on par with Tesla and Rivian, massive hiring of service center techs and software talent) or they fold. The longer they wait, the worse it'll get.

Jobs for their Citizens. They will never fold Lucid.

Then the PIF should commit far more resources into Lucid than what was announced recently to signal to the market they have unwaivering support. Getting a new car up from production into consumer hands is ballpark $2-3BN at minimum. Tesla spent roughly $5-10BN but that was also for battery tech and massive automation. $750MM is a half measure at best.

Sedans never sell, you can’t expect the Air to sell in large quantities.

Stock is down partly due to delays in production. But those hiccups will pass.

Main reason is loss of 7.5k credit and carbon credits. PIF was prepared. They looked at worst case scenario and therefore was prepared for more capital support.

Making vehicles is capital intensive!

Market cap 2.3 billion is a joke, therefore I’m adding significantly here.

The PIF has poured $8 to $10 billion into Lucid

They’ve supported much more/ 9.5 billion roughly.

I would never say never. Bet people on the LIV Tour where saying that and it is most definitely going to fold at some point this year. If Saudi’s want Lucid to succeed they need to pour a ton more money in Lucid for more service centers, software, etc. Company has to execute to perfection in this competitive marketplace. And the Saudi’s would have no problem pulling their investments either. I think they are reevaluating everything now since the Iran War is really hurting them.

But that is why it is an investment and no one is ever an expert and if we all were, we would all be making out big time. 🤣

I was about to say the same... Brand awareness is almost non-existent outside of the EV enthusiasts world. It doesn't look like the Timothee Chalamet campaign did much...
I'm sure you've all been through this, but I laugh when people ask me what car it is, I tell them is a Lucid and they feel the need to clarify "but WHO makes it?" 😂

This will be a never thing. Saudi royalty know their days will be numbered if they don’t diversify from oil. And they want to move from society dependent on handouts to actually productivity.

You can’t compare LIV to manufacturing. Sports entertainment is very fickle. But manufacturing is where you grow and develop your country.

To give up now after spending 9.5 billion is lunacy.

On the other side not stopping at some point is also Lunacy 😉

It seems that some people think that the sunk cost fallacy is a sound investment strategy. Good luck, or something...

Interest free loans are anything but. Money must kept set aside for cancelations, a large group of people who feel they are entitled to push for design changes is enabled, influencers griping about delays, every design change (e.g. dropped colors or options) brings howling from the masses of deposit holders.

Better to lock in the design, show it and start accepting deposits within a month or two of delivery.
Any major component (door panels, fenders, glass, suspension pieces, etc.) tooling is already released to final suppliers, if this car is really only a year away. They know what the car is going to look like, be assembled like and, except for possible trim pieces, be delivered like. Cars are REALLY long lead-time items and so they are deliberately not showing it. In my personal opinion, they're (actually, Erwin Raphael) thinking "absence makes the heart grow fonder." In my personal opinion, I think they are missing out on TONS of free advertising by NOT being on every magazine across the world with pics of the finished product. It doesn't have to run - just get the free advertising! Heck, Nikola got headlines showing a truck rolling down a hill due to gravity (sorry, couldn't resist!)

i guess that is why I am a finance guy and not a marketing guy... I am sure hoping they know best.
