Production started YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!

I’m not sure if they’re charging or just parked there… But the Gravity has an NACS port. So, the standard Tesla cable will fit right in. Whether we will actually do anything remains to be seen. Currently, Lucid is not on the Tesla – preferred list. It is possible that that particular car is a test mule for a future agreement? We can only dream.
Seems odd that an employee would plug into a stall that doesn't work...i assume he's charging. I think it's a good sign that Lucid and Tesla's agreement is in the works

Just search for Tesla to J1772 adapter. They are readily available and I think at one time Tesla supplied them with their cars. You will want this adapter no matter what charger you have at home since many level 2 chargers are J1772.
With Gravity equipped with the NACS port and the same for Air (starting MY 2025), I wonder if, at some time in the future, Lucid will offer the LHCS with the choice of a J1772 or NACS connector, like Charge Point does.

EA and other charging providers are supposed to be offering NACS starting in 2025, so it's possible to live an adapter-less life!?
I hope to minimize level 3 charging as much as possible, but when I do, perhaps no adapter.

First world problem.

I would bet that Lucid will offer both the mobile charger and the LCHCS in either NACS or J1772. I expect it early next year.

It has been my understanding that as of right now there is no plan to reconfigure the Air with an NACS port. NACS compatibility will supposedly be handled by an Adapter that Lucid will make available to customers.

I don't get the interpretation from the 2023 press release.

"Will integrate" seems different from "using an adapter".

Lucid Group, Inc., today announced that all Lucid vehicles built with the current Combined Charging System (CCS) will be able to charge at stations in the Tesla Supercharger network by using an adapter in 2025. In addition, Lucid will integrate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) into future vehicles in 2025.

There are two different things at play. The shape of the plug and the communication protocol / standard that is used to allow the onboard vehicle charger to communicate with the power source into which it is plugged. According to both my sales person at the Short Hills Studio and my Inside Sales person, the way that the Air (at least for the foreseeable future) will charge using NACS will be with an adapter for the plug. I don’t have the foggiest idea what that means for charging speeds…

- The communication protocol is already the same for both.
- There will be no change that makes current Airs charge at full speed (> 50 kW) at current Tesla Superchargers, short of Tesla actually upgrading the stations. They've been saying they're going to do this for years, but not one has actually been upgraded.
- Future Air models may come with a new Wunderbox (internal charger) that lets them charge at full speed (250kW) from current Tesla Superchargers. Just saying this is a possibility, not that anyone has promised it. The reason they aren't already designed for this is because nobody expected us to still be waiting for those upgraded Superchargers, even back when the Air was first being designed.

Also to be clear, the reason we can't use most Superchargers (those without the built-in Magic Dock adapter) right now (at 50kW) is an authorization issue, not a connector or protocol issue. The agreement between Lucid and Tesla hasn't been set up yet, the tech to authenticate a Lucid for payment hasn't been set up yet, etc. Once all that is done you will be able to just buy an adapter and use a Supercharger with any existing Air... at 50kW.

The agreement between Lucid and Tesla hasn't been set up yet, the tech to authenticate a Lucid for payment hasn't been set up yet . . . .

And might never be. I'm sorry, but after nine years of owning Teslas and being pulled down several of their ADAS and warranty black holes, I just don't trust Musk to play it on the up-and-up . . . especially with a company run by an ex-employee who has leap-frogged him on technology.

I may be one of the few who is happy for NACS mainly for the reason that I have a tesla charger at my home already and don't need to do anything to change that. I am planning to keep my Model S and it will be nice to be able to plug either car in on the same charger without any adapters.

Maybe the “…will integrate the North American Charging Standard (NACS) into future vehicles in 2025.” leans really hard into “future vehicles”, and implies ‘starting’ in 2025. So, adapters for existing models, and native NACS for Gravity in 2025 and for mid-size after that, and maybe an Air refresh with relocated charge port, native NACS and other associated systems mods some time after that?

If someone has a crystal ball and can help:
I would love to get a Gravity in April next year. Do you think it makes sense to order it right away because the delivery might take four months anyway, or should I wait a bit?

Order now, as it could easily be March before a lot of the people who've already ordered see delivery.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm pretty flexible with my timeline (I don't mind if it doesn't come until July), so I haven't ordered yet. But my hunch would be that if you need it by April ordering now wouldn't be a bad idea. Just my guess.

So when can we see your (@borski, @hydbob , @hmp10 and @Adnillien) Gravtiy's ;)

I doubt I'll be among the early deliveries, especially if I switch to Lunar Titanium. Frankly, after having taken delivery of a fairly early Air (No. 154) I don't mind waiting to be a little further along in the production queue this time around.
