My wife noticed the cockpit monitor was very hot after driving today. We live in a very temperate climate with highs only in the low 60’s so it was not that. I’ve searched the forum but can’t find any references to this but I have a vague recollection of seeing the problem posted before. Any ideas?
Thanks.

It does get very hot, but I haven't heard about that causing any problems.

What is the cockpit monitor? The screens in front of the driver? It's not a problem.

We call it that. The screens in front of the driver.
Hope you’re correct about the heat. Thanks.

It definitely gets very hot but over my years of ownership I have never had any problems. And between all of our vehicles it hasn’t been an issue. Have you gotten some sort of warning that says overheating? Or are you just saying the back of the screen is hot to the touch?

It definitely gets pretty hot but to be fair, it's basically exposed to the sun whenever you're out in the car. I've also never seen an issue with it , from my time working on automotive grade stuff, they do test it to 100-125C so this is kind of expected.

Mine also gets quite hot, to the point where holding my finger on the screen long enough to turn off climate keep mode can be uncomfortable at times. I trust that they've engineered it to tolerate the temperatures.

I also doubt it's entirely environmental. I've encountered this in situations where the cabin is quite cool and in shade. Does anyone know what components are in the glass cockpit panel? Is it just displays or does any processing happen there? Really wish there was an extensive teardown on the electronics of this thing. Lucid et. al. have done a great job showcasing all the heavy engineering but the Android system is still a mystery to me.

When one says "very hot" it means you can't touch it for more than a few seconds. It's alarmingly hot. (the back or front-facing part of the driver's binnacle). No glue can survive the surface-of-the-sun temperatures of the Lucid binnacle and windshield.

I tried putting my EZpass on the back of it and the glue melted (the glue that holds the Velcro tabs on). The transponder fell onto the top of the dash and traveled side to side on each turn.

I moved the EZpass to the windshield and it melted there too, and fell into the dark void of the foot-well.

Now I keep the EZpass transponder pinned to the windshield using the sun visor.

If only there was a clip that mechanically attaches the transponder to the visor, ala the old-style garage door opener.

Did you get fresh velcro strips from EZ Pass (they'll send it out for free if you ask)? If you used old strips the adhesive might be too tired. I've had no problems with my EZ pass or my Viofo, both rock solid. Full disclosure, my car is garage-kept.
