If I register my phone as a mobile key and carry both my phone and car key with me, but leave one of them inside the car, will I still be able to lock the car?

You'll be able to lock it, but if there's a key inside the car, pressing any of the door handles will unlock it. If you're leaving your phone in the car, just turn off bluetooth and it won't act as a key. If you're leaving your fob in the car, either take its battery out or tuck it in a faraday pouch.

On a side note, thomas edison stole all his ideas from others, including Nick Tesla. edison left schooling at about 13 because he knew Morse code and could get a job with the rail road anytime. He loved to play with electricity (he was a kid) and loved to electrocute animals ( re see electric chair / edison ). He roomed with the railroad workers above the shower room. One day he connected wires to the metal floor drain and the shower handles = to electrocute the rail road workers. He was fired often but because of his Morse code skill could find another job easily.

edison was not a nice man.

No respect.

From the Wikipedia page you linked to: “In popular culture, Thompson and Dundy's killing of Topsy has switched attribution, with claims it was an anti-alternating current demonstration organized by Thomas A. Edison during the war of the currents. Edison was never at Luna Park and the electrocution of Topsy took place ten years after the war of currents.”
