Thought I'd share in case anyone else is in need for this:
I received a big nasty door ding in the driver's side of the hood of my Air GT in the SeaTac parking garage. (On any other car, it would've been on the left front fender, but with our 'wrap-around' hood, that's where high 'pickup truck-style' door dings happen). The PPF did its job and took the friction of the hit, tearing forward and leaving the paint unmolested, but the impact left a huge quarter-sized ‘dimple’.
I called our local Seattle Lucid Service Center and asking about local Lucid-endorsed body shops, and also if they might have any ideas about popping out dents. Benjamin at the Service Center told me about this guy, Ryan Snider, who he had heard did ‘miracles’ with such dent removals and gave his contact info.
So, I contacted Ryan and he asked me to send him some pictures, which I did. He promptly replied, “Thanks for the pictures, I can fix this dent,” and we agreed on an appointment for the following morning.
He arrived with his tools, I brought him to the garage, opened the hood and he set to work. About an hour later he was done.
I had resigned myself that I was going to have see that “Seatac scar” every time I approached the driver’s side of my Air for the foreseeable future, but when I inspected the damage spot, the only evidence was the 4” patch where he’d removed the PPF - He just totally hit ‘UNDO’ on that door ding.
I’ll get the PPF replaced this week, and it’ll be like it never happened.
I’m sure some of you have had or will have a similar issue (it was my second nasty door ding in the last year…) so, I thought I’d share this recommendation.
You can contact Ryan for "Paintless Dent Repair" at RyanPDR@gmail(dot)com.
Also, a big shout out to Benjamin at Lucid Service SODO for the great recommendation!
