Sadly, this has to serve as my introduction. I took delivery of a ‘22 demo unit with 6,000 miles on it. I had the choice of a few in my spec, but chose this one because of its lower mileage.

Before I go any further, please understand that I have given Lucid over 6 weeks to resolve this, and I have been met with nothing but empty promises, phones calls and emails unreturned and generally no response despite my repeated call attempts to handle this. The goal of this post is to warn other potential buyers, and to get some resolution prior to filing a lawsuit from lucid.

I was working with Mohammad in the Tysons store. Once he sent me units that fit my desired spec, I proceeded to secure financing. That in itself wasn’t easy given the brands newness (credit union).

The car was in AZ and needed to be transported. Once it arrived; which took twice as long as it was quoted (I have shipped plenty of cars and understand that can happen).

Once it showed up, it was suddenly very difficult to get pictures or information about the car. The pics I was sent were from two different sets of shots; the front shots were different in color grading and look from the rear. Those pics took an extra week or so to get; the whole time I’m pursuing financing. It was like pulling teeth. I ended up getting ahold of Angus in customer service who promised me to solve my issues surrounding how the process was going. He promised a free level 2 charger. It’s not here to this day.

When I finally picked up the car, it was of course detailed. But the glass was etched from the windshield wipers. I asked the manager to replace it, and he obliged. That finally was done this week, just waiting for them to bring the car back to me.

Now I’m a hard core car guy, and bought this for the driving dynamics, but I’m very very picky about my cars being in perfect condition. So when I got home (4hour drive) I noticed the hood appeared to have been repainted. The next day I noticed the chips in the drivers side fender from what had to have been contact from the hood. Then I noticed the hood had literally no micro scratches, and had compound residue. It was clear it had just been buffed out.

Then we left for a road trip and realized the windshield wipers didn’t really work properly. Service (who was awesome) came to my hotel on the road (again awesome) and replaced the blade. We then discovered the wiper arm was bent. That explains how the glass was etched.

None of this was shown to me during the buying process.

I have called and called and explained. No one seems to care, and that’s just sad. I love the car. But this is unacceptable.

Sorry for your experience, sounds like a typical pre-loved vehicle buying experience.

I have bought a few cars including Saab and MBZ AMG relying on only "detailed" pictures online from luxury second hand car dealerships and its very typical they hide those imperfection. When I took pictures and videos of the damage once the car has arrived, they totally ignored me of course. I feel these relatively new pre-loved car are usually leases first owner just doesn't take care of it cosmetic-wise.

As I keep my good car for 10+ years, for my Air GT I am buying new albeit the price should be more than double of what you are paying for yours.

Kudos to Lucid getting those fixed for you.

No not kudos to lucid as they have not resolved anything. This is a sold as new 6k mi car that they willfully withheld damage of the hood, bumper, windshield, wiper arm, chips in the door paint and who knows what else when I get it on a lift. Pictures? Oh you must be referring to the ones I received two weeks after asking for them as I was reassured the car was in transport (and not a paint shop). Those lies? Yeah no judos should be given.

Respectfully, if you want a car to be perfect, why buy a demo ‘22 model with 6,000 miles on it? There’s no way for that to be perfect.

I’m really sorry for your experience and there’s no excuse for anything other than complete transparency on Lucid’s part, but if you are hyper sensitive to having a perfect car, a demo unit probably sets the stage for frustration and disappointment.

I wish you the best of luck coming to a good resolution.

Misalignment of the hood causes damage to the aluminum brow and fenders as well as the hood itself. Typically, this involves replacing the aluminum brow plus repainting of hood and fenders with realignment of hood to resolve the issue.

This was first noted on the forum by myself followed by a handful of other owners. Resolution is straightforward. They just need to repaint the fenders depending on the terms and arrangement made for purchase. That's between you and Lucid, but the hood is a known issue for that model year.

You subject says “Sky is falling” and the description says “Its raining outside”

I hope you are not explaining to Lucid the same way. As far most owners here have a better than expected service and i wish you get the same.

I'm also very particular about the condition of cars I buy, but - this all sounds within normal for buying a 3 year old car with 6,000 miles. It's listed as "new" just in the sense of title, as it's never been titled before since it was a manufacturer demo. That does not mean it has not been used, where do you think those 6,000 miles came from?

The correct way to address this should have been at delivery, when you inspected the car, found these things - they should have written a tag for these things which were owed to you at that time. If they didn't agree to write that, you shouldn't take delivery. This is not a Lucid thing, this is literally every single car purchase from anyone, ever.

It sounds like most of it has been addressed, the only thing remaining is chips on the fenders that need to be corrected? Doesn't seem like a big deal.

I have 2 other 2022 vehicles right now, both have far more visible wear than you are describing. "Normal wear" is a thing that is considered.

Fair question. I had the choice of a few demos. The reason I went that route was simply the massive depreciate I would have suffered. The models I had to chose from had between 6k and 20k miles on them. Logic would usually dictate the lower mile car would have more life in it and be generally cleaner.

Where’s the crash? Sounds like a demo car that has been used for 6k miles and needed some stuff done to clean up scratches etc. None of that seems like crash damage though.
Good question. Where is it? Where are the pics? Where’s the damage? Why did the hood contact the fender? Why was the wiper arm bent? Why are all the front sensors erroring? Why was the hood repainted? Why was the bumper cover replaced? Why why why?

Why did the Tyson’s dealer take weeks to send me pics but insist on having finance started, and take $3500 for shipping? Why were the pics different color gradients shot in different places between the front or the rear?

I had a right to know. I had a right to simply be informed, and chose another car. Which I would have done!
Great questions.

Pics? Wouldn’t it have been cool for someone to tell me that? Yes. They also wouldn’t have broken the law.

I agree. You purchased a vehicle that had been used for 6,000 miles. Did you really expect it to be pristine like a new car? Most car companies would have ignored the OP. Lucid has IMO gone the extra mile for the OP.

lol. How would you know what lucid has or hasn’t done?

Fact is they hid the damage and did not disclose it. That’s illegal and immoral. That’s why there’s laws in place to protect. “Used” is a relative term. I have many “used” vehicles in my facility (own a car storage facility) and none of them have repainted hoods, chipped panels, bent wiper arms, etched glass, sensors in the front glitching, misaligned headlights and other things that strongly point to it having been in an accident. Not sure how this doesn’t add up for you as a problem.

Anything with 6K miles on it is a "used" car, no matter what the title says. Personally, I'd buy a new car without seeing it first. Online or from a dealer. But I would never, ever buy a used car from anywhere or anyone without seeing it in person and making sure it looked good and was operating as expected.

Appeeently OP wanted to save money.
And he did.
Old adage comes to mind,
"There is no such a thing as a free lunch."

9 weeks in….talked to 20 folks at lucid…including Bill Bragger and that has not been mentioned…once. I’m not disputing that, but again the problem here was disclosure.

Lol. WOW. So fraud is just okay huh. No one wanted anything for free. I just wanted a fair shake.

Car A that choice had damage
Car B had no damage

Similar mileage. Same spec. Same
Price.

Which one would you choose? Anything other than car B is just you meat riding the brand. It’s that simple.

Sure in an oversimplified world. Fact is - it’s against the law. Period. Sentence over.
