Lucid Production

“Lucid said in a statement that it produced 3,493 vehicles at its Arizona factory in the fourth quarter and delivered 1,932, bumping its total production to 7,180 for the full year. Lucid's fourth-quarter production total was up 53% from the third quarter, when it produced 2,282 Air sedans and delivered 1,398.”

I had a feeling.

Good news but I was little surprised they only delivered 4369 of the 7180 produced.

I guess they're having trouble arranging enough transport, or PDI is still a bottleneck? I've had a VIN for a few weeks now and my car is still "on the assembly line" as per DA.

A mobile tech told me that they have been doing 11hr work days for a while and now cut back to 10hrs to keep up with the deliveries. I have extremely minor issues and told him that I am willing to be patient while they work on deliveries and other critical issues preventing owners from driving their cars.

As we already know

As we already know
It's been a good week overall for Lucid

I think the risks on the earnings call will be

  • Reservations - are they increasing, plateauing or decreasing
  • Guidance - What are the 2023 numbers going to be

I think the risks on the earnings call will be

  • Reservations - are they increasing, plateauing or decreasing
  • Guidance - What are the 2023 numbers going to be
I agree that the number of reservations will be watched but I don't think the investors will believe any guidance on the numbers
because they already decided that the guidance is not reliable. We need more quarters of rapid growth for the the numbers to be
taken seriously.

And delivered 1,932 vehicles during the same period.
On a full-year basis, the company produced 7,180 vehicles, exceeding provided guidance range of 6,000-7,000 vehicles, and delivered 4,369 vehicles.

Delivery numbers are a bit concerning to me. Hopefully it's not a sign of a significant reduction in demand.

I think it's more a sign of delivery logistics not having caught up to production logistics. Delivery is a lot tougher in many ways. You have the customer as a major variable, for one.

Yup. Especially during the holidays, when many people are traveling. That is part of why my delivery was delayed, too, back in 2021 - I was traveling during the 2020 holidays and couldn’t make it work. Lots of variables compared to production.

Tagging the official announcement onto this:

Lucid Produced 3,493 Vehicles in Q4 2022 and 7,180 in the Full Year 2022, Exceeding Annual Guidance

I was hoping so, but early reviews of VinFast at CES were not complementary.
Sounds like it’s a bit of a mess. Out of Spec Motoring did a mini review and conclusion was they should spend less effort on over-the-top full expenses paid press events and promotion and more on actual engineering.

Great that they made production guidance (yes I know it was already lowered twice during the year but still they seem to be getting into gear now)
