Lucid partnership

Biggest fear/issue here is Lucid can’t make anywhere near enough Gravity right now for US and KSA. Anything that takes them away from Gravity ramp for normal buyers is a concern. They also really need to focus and spend on lower priced models…

20,000 over 6 years is just over 3000 cars a year. Will hardly be taking away huge numbers from normal buyers.

The issues with the ramp up at the moment have nothing to do with factory capacity but they’re parts constrained. Those issues should be well and truly sorted by the time this deal starts.

That’s fair re: 3,000/year but I don’t think we know, except for HUD and plugs, that they’re parts constrained. Their CEO did say they’ve unclogged parts of the supply chain on Bloomberg the other day. We shall see.

It’s more than HUD and Plugs. Parts for the booster were/are also a problem. It’s why the cars went to KSA first over US.

The CEO also said in an interview about the partnership that they aren't really anticipating this service starting until the end of 2026... plenty of time to ramp up and secure enough parts. I also suspect it will be a small test fleet in one city when it does start.

I think it is still early to make any assumptions

My best guess that eventually they will find away to port the Nuro know how, developed
models and FSD into lucid

It is very early now to give any promises

So they cut it short and slap nuro at the top for now and call it partnership , only for now until everything is proven sold

It’s unclear if the production units will use the Nuro sensors like the prototype.

I am not surprised if Lucid goes all in and just out right buys nuro

It makes a lot of sense to test the water now and if all works fine then they go for it

They’re worth $8.6 billion. Where on earth is Lucid going to get that money from to buy them?

Does everyone want a big ass box on their roof? These L4 systems are in a league of their own and it certainly wouldn’t be as easy as Lucid buying Nuro and updating the DreamDrive code to get L4 on the existing hardware.

What I interpret from Lucid's statement is there won't be the Nuro roof attachment in the production version:

"The necessary hardware will be integrated seamlessly into the Lucid Gravity on Lucid's assembly line and will subsequently receive Nuro's software when the vehicle is commissioned by Uber."

The roof attachment was there to quickly bypass Lucid's L2 hardware and software system in order to run Nuro L4 hardware and software in a Gravity in just 7 week time as a prototype.
