Lucid Gravity Recall - Tech Crunch

Much more info in the actual report. Supplier made a process change that was not conveyed to Lucid.

There goes a Tier 2, down the bankruptcy road!

Perfect timing. I just yesterday, dropped off my GGT at service center, primarily for second row seat issues (seat not auto folding down) but also for some other minor issues. Sound like getting my second row seat replaced will fix two issues. Will be interesting to see if this is a one week repair or one month repair. They gave me a Mercedes GLS 450 as a loaner - perfect timing with $4 gas.

I would be really surprised if they have replacement seats being delivered to service centers yet. Recall letters don't even have to be delivered until May 22.

Hang on to your horses, everyone - this one will probably take a while...

I have no horses!

opportunity to get the front trunk finally fixed, nice

I’ve been waiting for parts for a repair for 2 months and now this.. I hope this recall explains and fixes the squeak and non-folding issue in the second row.

I called yesterday to get an appointment scheduled because my 2nd row is jammed (again!) and one of the door handles won't retract, and I was advised of this safety recall. The tech seemed to think that they would rework the weld in-house if needed, but it was all new to him yesterday too.

I'd be a bit surprised if they rework the weld in-house. Performing life-critical welds is not for the amateur, and I seriously doubt that service centers are hiring people with the right welding skills for this. It's conceivable that they'll remove the necessary part and sent it to a welding shop. But then they'll also need to find shops that can repair whatever surface treatment the part has after the welding shop is done with it. Replicate this for every service center, or take the logistics hit of shipping them to a central place and back. It's much more likely that they'll replace the part with something new.

The recall document details note (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2026/RCLRPT-26V192-7183.pdf):
Lucid will inspect all customer-owned Gravity vehicles made before February 14, 2026, for seat welds
that do not conform to the Lucid specification. For seats with a non-conforming weld that can be
repaired with a bracket and adhesive, Lucid will install a bracket. Seats with an improper weld that
cannot be repaired with a bracket will be replaced with a new seat.

I'm curious what the supply chain looks like here; I thought Hyundai Transys was the seat supplier for Lucid. Is Camaco a subcontractor to them, or are there mixed suppliers for different rows?

Waiting for recall for blinding HUD 😅
I finally experienced what I think you are referring to in my trip to Tahoe. Is it like a bright vertical bar, top to bottom, that crosses the screen when the sun hits it just right? Very odd and wish I had been able to make video of it. I’ve never had a HUD that reflects like this one does. 😕

Several different scenarios, that one is a bit rare. The most common one I see is during cloudy or dawn/dusk or in a parking garage kind of low-mid light scenario, the background of the projection becomes like purple square as if it doesn't know how to transparently match the background.

Attached my recent pic but it often is completely solid background purple so you can't see pretty much the most important area lol

Yeah this happens to me multiple times at night. The square goes into flashing mode, fading in and out at 100% brightness creating an entire white block in your line of sight. Can also give you an idea of how obnoxiously high the projection sits when behind a car and how large the text becomes when driving because it's being stretched, tilt your head forward and it becomes in focus and smaller. This is with the seat in the lowest position. Funnily enough, I can raise the projection above the cars in front roofline which is less distracting but it just looks plain stupid!

First time for everything!
To be clear, I have a short list of cosmetic issues, just nothing that’s made me want to give up the car yet for a few days or weeks or whatever.

Gravity service issues
  • Charger door doesn’t open all the way, just 75% (needs lube, opens the rest of the way perfectly fine with a finger touch)
  • Driver door window not closing (rare, but seals need adjusting, easy to work around)
  • Trim piece in passenger footwell is falling (needs clip)
  • Passenger seat button adjustment sticks (needs lube)
  • Redundant light error (intermittent)
    • When this happens, turn signal cameras also go out, and lane changes trigger lane keep assist (steering wheel vibrates) even when the turn signal is on.
    • Haven’t seen this since 3.5.1
  • Driver side massage stops working after a while; right side stops working.
  • Seat cover/airbag recall (NHTSA 25V855000 / Lucid SR.25.05.0)
  • Seat belt recall
  • Replace wheel covers with DE wheel covers (bear)
🤷‍♂️
