Lucid gravity order begins Nov 7

I’d consider trading it in, but I suspect what is more likely is Gravity will replace my wife’s Ioniq 5, assuming she wants the bigger size.

Same here. If we decide to get rid of another vehicle when the Gravity arrives, it won't be our Air.

My dilemma, assuming there's no Performance option for the Gravity GT at launch, is whether to wait to see if that comes a bit later. My worry is that Lucid will refuse to say one way or the other.

I've also been scanning the auto journalism sites since morning to see if any press embargo might have been lifted on test drive reports. So far, nada. With neither final production vehicles to view or test drive at Design Studios nor test drives from reliable reviewers, ordering immediately will be somewhat in the dark. By this point in the Air timeline, the auto press was out in force with reviews from driving the cars and we had spent a good bit of time sitting in non-drivable Airs on several visits to Design Studios.

Part of my concern is the steering squircle. After spending a year and half trying unsuccessfully to adapt to our Tesla's yoke and finally replacing it with a round wheel, I'm not sure I want to commit to an order without driving the Gravity, even if around a parking lot. I sat behind a fixed squircle at a recent event. Although it was not as extreme at the Tesla yoke, it clearly felt different from a conventional wheel. And the rim was somewhat thinner than our Air steering wheel, which feels just about perfect.

Good to know we finally we have pricing although I am a little disappointed that Lucid chose to prioritize the GT over the touring. I would have much preferred and I thought it would have more sense in terms of sheer numbers to push the Touring ahead of the the GT and a potential Pure variant.
I'm not and not sure why others are. Many automakers (including traditional) follow this path so not sure why anyone was expecting Lucid to go in reverse. It's also a very smart sales tactic and probably part of the reason it's done because for those who can't wait they'll often fork out the extra cash to get the car sooner by going into the higher model.

There have been a few hints that the Gravity production ramp will be rather slow. As long as they can sell all the GTs they can produce during the ramp, it makes sense from a cash flow perspective to build the units with the biggest margin.

I was surprised that the GT starts at under $100k. We don't know what the starting production capacity will be, but my guess is they will sell all they can initially build at that price.

I was also surprised that it's the Touring model that will come in under $80k to start. I had assumed that would be for a Pure down the line. Now I'm wondering if there will either be no Pure, or whether it will come as a dual-motor model using the new Atlas motors. I think trying to sell a large 2-wheel-drive SUV is a hard putt.

I'm a little surprised, but I'm guessing there are going to be many options available that will quickly get that price closer to $140k like a fully optioned Air GT. I'd just like to know what those options will be...

Best guesses:
Color
Wheels
Interior trim
Dream Drive Pro/Premium
Surround Sound Premium
3 chamber air suspension
Heads up display
The relaxation modes
3rd row?

I'm assuming something along those lines, too. However, with the Touring starting at $15k less than the Grand Touring, I'm wondering what else beyond the options you listed would be missing from the Touring vs. the Grand Touring?

Power and range (i. e., smaller battery pack)?

Well, we'll know in a week!

Battery is the bulk of the cost differential, then probably Glass Roof and Air Suspension.

Honestly if you compare current lease rates between a similarly spec'ed Air Grand Touring versus a Touring, you are look at about $100-$150 a month difference. If the Gravity has similar lease rates to the current Air, then I would probably pay the extra $150 a month and get the Grand Touring.

...so why is the Touring coming in late 2025? 1 year of just GT's being made? And the Pure will come even later than that...

With the Touring coming in under the heavily-hyped low-end price target of $80k, I'm wondering if there will be a Pure -- at least not a single-motor one. I think a 2-wheel drive large SUV will have very little appeal. Maybe a Pure will eventually come out with two Atlas motors?

According to an article published today by Kelley Blue Book, no one in the press has yet been able to drive a production-version Gravity. So much for hoping a press embargo would be lifted imminently so that we would have some independent reviews before orders open up.

All will be clearer after the earnings report and opening of orders. We'll see the production and sales volume guidance for 2025. Those should explain the decision of only offering GT for the first year.

If I was to speculate - production volume (due to ramp up) will be low enough to keep a full order book of GTs for all of 2025. The other thing I'll be watching is what the guidance projects Air production to be in 2025. Gravity availability may lower Air demand and it will be interesting to see how they see the demand split.

Yes, as stated in the past, for some reason, the Pure will have a front-wheel drive setup with Atlas motors. I find this terrible (RWD would be worse in zero aspects, including packaging... in fact, losing the front motor might add the sub-frunk back) and think that it will lead to even more people thinking of the Gravity as a minivan. At least on other online forums, some people already think this, so it is crucial for Lucid to dispel this narrative.

If they dd make a cheaper configuration they might pick a more apt name than "pure". It makes sense for Air because it pares the "air" down to just the purest form with just the essentials. But, there is no concept of "pure gravity". What's a good analogy for an adjective for gravity?

"Low" so we can get the "Lucid Low Gravity" (joking but would be silly)

Interesting answer from Gemini... it has a point, and I recall somebody else suggesting this name!

Am I the only one here who is hitting submitting my order at 9:01? 🤣
