Lucid gravity order begins Nov 7

The Tweet from Nick Twork posted above states that "[o]rders will initially be taken for Grand Touring trim." So, no ordering a Touring until a later date.

I'm very happy that they're opening orders, and especially that the Touring will start below $80k. But I share others' disappointment that the Touring won't be available for a year. My family probably cannot wait that long; was really hoping for next summer....

Our Air Touring lease is up in April. So we will have a 8-12 month gap which could make it tricky to wait for a Touring. I can probably make it will out an extra vehicle, but not ideal.

Strange that orders will open in 9 days, but no word on what the differences are between Touring and GT. Or what the options/pricing will be. I'd love to figure these out before orders actually open.

The main Lucid website is still showing the Gravity range as "up to" 440 miles, but the announcement about orders on their website said a "range surpassing 440 miles". However, it also said EPA figures will be released "when available". It seems some things are still in a bit of flux.

The announcement also mentioned only one option (3-chamber air suspension), which I thought odd. If you're going to bring options into the discussion at all in such an announcement, why mention only one?

FWIW, my wife really wants executive style captains chairs (specifically the ones shown in the original Gravity teaser video), which likely won't be available until a later date, if at all...

Word is that captains chairs won't happen at launch. (Lucid removed all references to 6-passenger seating from their website and press materials some time ago). And, as they were trying to engineer captains chairs that would fold into a flat cargo floor, they may not happen at all. Personally, I would prefer to have a choice to get captains chairs and forgo the flat cargo floor, as people for whom the flat cargo floor is important could opt for the 5- or 7-passenger configuration.

Lucid has high expectations for new Gravity SUV as customer orders set to open

I find it strange that they will not deliver a less expensive version until late next year. Most people who want a less expensive Gravity are not going to trade up. Realistically the first 5,000 Gravity deliveries will be well over $100,000. That market is relatively small when u look at competitors. Curious what others think???

If leasing is very attractive on the Grand Touring, then I would consider trading up. Otherwise I agree, a much more limited customer base at $100k+.

Lucid did imply a slow ramp in 2025, so maybe they are only planning a couple thousand Grand Tourings next year with higher volumes to really begin in 2026.

I agree there is a limited customer base for $100k E-SUV, but I'm confident its a LOT more than 5,000 people. Look how many hideous Cybertrucks were sold just because "first" is the most important metric these days.

At the end of Q3 2024, Tesla had already sold 28,250 cyber trucks. So I guess the willingness to spend this kind of money is there.

$79k for the Touring is going to be a huge. That makes it very competitive against the Rivian R1S, Mercedes EQS/EQE, Audi Q8 E-tron, Model X, BMW iX, Volvo EX90, and Polestar 3.

We have an Air Touring and a Rivian R1S. The Gravity Touring will be much more premium and better driving than the Rivian. Buy the Gravity for a premium SUV, the Rivian for off-road.

My guess is we end up with a Gravity Touring and swap our Rivian R1S for a Rivian R1T (truck) in next year or two.
But they could lower the price by the time Gravity Touring is available.

Since Lucid started the 18-month Air lease program specifically to get people into an Air and then bridge them over to a Gravity, I'd be surprised if they don't work with lessees to deal with the late introduction of the Gravity Touring. Maybe like offering month-by-month lease extensions for those who want them?

I’m guessing the CT has a totally different demographic 😜 I hope my wife digs the Gravity so I can get on the list in November.

Have to believe they will lay out all the various options in the configurator between the GT and Touring versions, but won't be producing the Touring until next year. Am curious if there will be a trade-in option for existing Air owners, or if we'll be left to our own devices...

I am also interested to hear about a possible trade-in program. I have an AGT that I'd love to trade for a Gravity GT. I haven't read anything about that and what if any incentives they would offer current Air owners, other than priority ordering. Priority ordering may not be too helpful if you're looking at a configuration that may not be available at launch.

I have a 2022 Air GT, any idea if they'll take a trade in for the Gravity?

what are current GT owners who bought at the initial $140k + taxes thinking of doing? Wanting to move to Gravity but have a lot outstanding on current GT payments
This is going to be interesting indeed as if people financed the whole amount of the car then they're probably underwater. I hedged my bets and put 50% cash 50% finance but its still a very bitter pill to swallow seeing how aggressively the Air depreciated. I went in fully expecting the car was going to depreciate higher due to it being a luxury brand but how aggressively its depreciated in such a short space of time caught me out big time.

At this point in time I'm probably just going to cut my losses, hope Lucid will offer trade and just lease the Gravity. Until the depreciation with the brand settles down a little I won't be purchasing one outright.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lucid offers month to month. My lease came up with Audi and the e-Tron was in production with an ETA of 2 to 3 months, when I contacted Audi they just put me on a month to month until the e-Tron arrived. I think you'll find if you're going to stay with the brand they'll often work with you more to make sure its favorable to everyone involved.

I got lucky because when I bought I scored a 1.54% on the rate, so even with the depreciation, I still come out ahead of cash, since my investments have more than made up for the cost of the financing, and I’m not selling the car because I love it lol.

I’d consider trading it in, but I suspect what is more likely is Gravity will replace my wife’s Ioniq 5, assuming she wants the bigger size.

Good to know we finally we have pricing although I am a little disappointed that Lucid chose to prioritize the GT over the touring. I would have much preferred and I thought it would have more sense in terms of sheer numbers to push the Touring ahead of the the GT and a potential Pure variant.

I’m also in an 18 month “Bridge to Gravity” lease and my lease ends next July. I doubt Lucid will be able to accommodate everyone who may want to switch to a Gravity at least until the end of the year. They probably will have some sort of lease extension for those who commit to or put down a deposit towards the Gravity. In which case myself and others would be able to hopefully get a Touring instead, which to me at least on the surface makes poor financial sense to launch volume production with the GT. But then the Saudi sugar daddy’s probably don’t care.

I might consider getting a GT based on availability and incentives especially if they let me keep my Air which I absolutely love, probably one of the best cars I’ve ever had the pleasure of driving long term.

Keeping the Air and adding a Gravity to the stable 😝

Not surprising at all. They'll need to get the production kinks out, just like they did with the Air. Better to start with the lower volume trim to take time to ramp up production. If they started with the more popular/cheaper trims, people might have to wait a long time from order to get their vehicle (yes, I know people will need to wait a while regardless given Touring won't start for a year).
