Lucid Grand Reopening KOP

I spoke to the folks at the studio and they said they should have their demo by mid July. But no definite date yet. Thanks for the info!

I test drove it he Gravity at KOP yesterday. It was everything I expected: quite, smooth, fast when needed.

The UI was similar and familiar enough to my Air Touring’s that I was able to use it quickly and without question what I was selecting.

Driving around KOP gave me a flavor, but was not sufficient to try out DD Pro 2.

The stereo was amazing. I think better than my AT’s surround sound pro, but I’m not an audiofile.

I still love the Tahoe interior. My wife loved the green exterior.
I personally would have preferred captain’s chairs in the second row and the option to choose CCS charging port like my AT has.

Great vehicle. I hope they sell lots of them.

When I mentioned issues of not being able to deliver cars with the HUD, she said something to the extent, "well I guess that's why they made us cover up the dash and not display it" as she had no idea of that issue
Interesting, when I drove it on Monday we removed the cover and gave it a try. It was extremely dim and nearly impossible to see, it was definitely malfunctioning. FWIW, this was a Touring model that is equipped with the HUD.

That is why I posted the other day that I do not think HUD delays are completely due to a 3rd party vendor not having enough ready. I feel it is more a software issue that they are still working on. Just my opinion though which isn't based on any real knowledge of the facts.

You stop noticing it after like 3 days, especially on the Gravity.

It was one of my initial worries with Air too.
I hate modern car A-pillars. A full grown adult fits in the blindspot they create. Always bobbing my head around every time I make a left turn. I've also been hit by a car turning left (I assume because they didn't move their head)
I always wonder whether instead of making them wider in the dimension that blocks your view they could make them wider in line your eyes.
Volvo had a neat concept a couple decades ago:

That Volvo does not have an A-pillar air bag. Yes there is a curtain bag across the top but nothing on the A-pillar. With IIHS ratings I doubt you could sell a modern car without A-pillar air bags.
Forgot about that. Could probably still do the lower half, good for seeing kids.

I think about that Volvo concept probably once a week because of how obstructive the Air pillars are. I'm also ducking and weaving in the drivers seat to try and see things hidden behind it 😂

It's a real problem. I've been deposed in several lawsuits over A-pillar width and it's relation to vehicle accidents. Everything related to visibility is a compromise.

If that were true, they wouldn't be delivering DEs with HUDs.

The Gravity actually has a window just ahead of the A-pillar, which is an improvement over the Air, in my opinion. You really do stop noticing it after a few days because of that.

I wasn't aware anyone took delivery of their GDE with a working HUD. If so, I'd love to hear how HUD is working out for them.

Looking forward to sitting in one. Again though, my concern isn't about noticing it, it's about noticing things that are blocked by it. I do realize that every modern car has this issue.

All DEs being delivered have a working HUD, to my knowledge. Again, I posted a picture of a working HUD at the Valley Fair studio.

It does not have the AR capabilities yet, but it does work.

I understand but the two GGT's at KOP have what appear to be "working" HUD's but both are covered with paper so Lucid doesn't want us to see it yet. I have no direct knowledge why but one person at KOP said it requires a software update. Of course when customers begin receiving their Gravity's equipped with a HUD we will know for sure if it works at all or works without AR, or is awaiting a software update. Hopefully they are working as promised by Lucid. But it is clear that something is up since we haven't seen even a video of a fully working HUD yet. Launch issues like these are common for any manufacturer.

Uh - I literally just told you it was working in Valley Fair (and I posted a photo), and we should all be well aware at this point that sometimes salespeople … make things up.

Anyway, I should have my DE in the next week or so, so I can tell you for certain soon, if someone else doesn’t first.

I don’t know why they covered them up, and it’s possible that between my visit and now there was a bad software update or something, but I have no doubt mine will be delivered with a working HUD.

Uh - I not debating you, I’m just stating what I’ve seen myself. They’re covered up and not visible. What you saw while working doesn’t sound like a finished product. I’ll leave it at that.

Can confirm at least one of them was not working properly, hence why it was covered. And the manner of the malfunction really didn't seem like a software problem. Leads me to believe the supply chain issue is actually a design flaw and they need extra time to source updated replacement part(s).

I agree! It’s definitely not finished, but that’s not the same as not working.

I’m not trying to be combative, I promise. I’m sorry it apparently came off that way.
