Mercedes EQS 580 SUV
My wife and I and a friend attended the Grand Reopening of the Lucid Service Center/Studio at their KOP (King of Prussia, PA) location. They had four Gravity's, two in the showroom on display (Aurora Green with Tahoe leather), one in the service area (locked and not intended for the public today, also Aurora Green with Yosemite) and a fourth Gravity in the parking lot (Aurora Green with Yosemite) that also was not for the public. There were no test drives available today but they said they should have a demo model in three weeks. The event was full of people and I must say, Lucid put on a very nice spread of food including sandwiches, fresh fruit, shrimp cocktail, deserts and many assorted drinks. The staff was very friendly and the fellow that was helping me took his time to answer every question I had including allowing us to sit in the Gravity outside which had the Yosemite interior. This was helpful as I was leaning toward that interior option but after seeing and touching it, my wife and I are leaning toward real leather, either Tahoe or Ojai. They have the small samples of the leather to view and touch and the Purluxe is thinner than the leather. We also noticed a number of dirt marks on the Gravity sitting outside with Yosemite.

The interior is very nice but not as premium as our Mercedes EQS 580 SUV IMHO. The screens looked very nice and the steering wheel felt fine. The first display model was set to the lowest height and it is low! My wife loved it as was easier to get in and out of compared to our EQS SUV. But the rear hatch door was kind of too low to walk under without bending my neck a bit and I'm 5' 10". The other display model was set to next to the highest height and I felt it was just as easy to get in and out of but the rear hatch was noticeably easier to walk under.

The second row leg room was very good and I sat in the third row. It was easily the most leg room I've personally experienced in a 3-row SUV, and I owned a few over the years. The frunk is just as big and roomy as I imagined. That would be a nice area for groceries.

I still need to test drive the Gravity before I decide to order it. I need to experience how it compares to our EQS SUV, which is very comfortable to sit in a drive for a long distance.

The two display models both had the largest 22/23 wheels which are beautiful but the Gravity they had in the Service area had the 21/22 with the Michelins, they were very nice looking in person and I would option one with those wheels and tires if we decide to order a Gravity. Oh, and they have a Sapphire if you have $250,000 laying around.

Here are some pictures from the event...

I’m assuming it was set to its default highest opening, but the tailgate height is adjustable; it’s possible (though not likely, I think) that they lowered it? I don’t see why they would’ve done that but who knows.

Oooooor it’s a bit of a duck-under at the lowest ride height - I’ll be honest, I never ever tried that haha.

It was set to the highest opening, but the car itself was at the lowest height setting.

Yeah, gotcha. I’ve just literally never had it in the lowest setting and had the tailgate open; so I never ran into it!

It’s a good question. I was just surprised when I first stood under it how close it was to my head. In fact, I had to tilt my head a bit, but he pointed out that it was the low setting that was causing that. Then when I walked to the other one which was almost to the highest setting, there was plenty of room to walk under the tailgate.

I forgot to mention that seeing a Gravity for the first time in person, it wasn’t as big of a vehicle as I pictured in my mind based on the picts and videos I had seen before coming to the event. That said, the interior room was more expensive than I pictured in my mind’s eye.

I had concerns about the windshield extending over my head, but the tinting above the head is significant. Inside the showroom it looks plenty dark, but I’ll know for sure once I can test drive it on a sunny day. I kind of think it won’t be a problem for me.

It was a very nice event! They had little swag bags for those of us in the owners club. I asked the execs about the HUD situation, no new info just talked about a vague supply chain issue.

I got there near the end. It was awesome to see. Was most impressed by the ease of entry (for my older parents and small kids) and the excess of leg room and space in the third row. Looking forward to a test drive.

It's a very nice facility with lots of room.

And the sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, fresh fruit, cheeses, and drinks were top notch. Lucid made a very good impression on me and my wife, and I'm sure everyone else that attended.

I went as well but didn’t do a very good job meeting forum members apparently…though I was very happy to have a chance to chat with @Babyrocko1908 and @moytoyx again!

As per Lucid employees, Android Auto will be the focus of an upcoming "soon" major firmware update, whenever that may come.

The infotainment computer in older Airs will also at some point be upgradable to the newer unit in the Sapphire. Apparently the units are pin-compatible and designed to be swapped in, and the older unit just isn't powerful enough for capabilities they have planned down the line. (I told the Lucid folks that the upgraded computer will be an immediate purchase for me when offered.) There was another thread that referenced this possibility in Germany but this is the first time I'd heard that directly from Lucid here in the US.

Hands free Drive Assist is still in the works but no promised release date. V2H power is also actively still in the works, but again no promised release date.

I also spoke to one of the reps about V2H and all he would say is that it’s being worked on and will be offered in a software update later. I’m personally interested in that capability and would install a new home charger if it supports V2H. But there are a number of promised upgrades that are not yet available.

I was surprised by the large number or Air models sitting around the building. I wasn't expecting to see so many.

Good question: if the test drive alleviates any concerns and we decide to place an order, we would entertain Lucid's trade in offer when the time comes. But if the numbers don't work for us, we would buy a Gravity outright and sell our EQS SUV privately or maybe even keep it. It is a great car, one of the best and most comfortable cars we've ever owned so we wouldn't just give it away for the sake of a trade.

From what we saw at the KOP event, our Mercedes EQS SUV is a bit more high end in its interior appointments, but we'll keep an open mind during our test drive.

Interesting. I've heard decidedly mixed reviews on the EQS. Good to know.

Got a call from KOP mall (not SC) that test drives available until June 15th.

Any word on trade in Air ?

Why would test drives only be available until June 15? Do they have their own demo for test drives or is it there on loan only?

from the SA

Yes Sir that is correct!
Our Lucid Gravity is currently staged for display as well as Demo Drives in the King of Prussia Mall until June 15th. The mall is right across the street from our Studio and our Lucid display is right outside of the Nordstrom Court inside the mall.
With that being said, Our Gravity Demo Drives are on a First Come, First Serve basis meaning that there is no need to register and book an appointment, feel free to come down at your own convenience for your Demo Drive experience!”

Guess I’ll pop by an afternoon this week
