Response from Bob: "This is something we've discussed a lot on the Audio Team. For any team responsible for the sound quality of any system, whether it be consumer electronics or car audio, there's always the question of enabling an EQ and how much flexibility to give the customer. Of course the ideal situation would be for us to make it sound so good you wouldn't need to adjust anything (as with a home HiFi system, for example), but we do realize everyone has their own personal tastes."
No need to protect us from ourselves. A more expansive equalizer with your presets/defaults clearly indicated would be terrific.

Nice to have this opportunity. For me, my AGT audio system is a train-wreck and it appears other have some of the same issues. In call cases, I have rebooted Lucid but problems return.

Here are four:

1. No sound coming out of any of the inputs including Apple Carplay, native inputs like FM radio, etc. Bleeps from touching icons on the touch screens can be heard but no audio. Parking the car and coming back later usually fixes the problem but it does come back.

2. Similar to #1 with no sound but the weird performance is that whenever I touch an icon on any screen, the sound comes back for one second and then quits. Each time I touch anything, like the seat heater, it get one second of sound.

3. Song album covers that are playing and displayed on the main audio screen do not match what is shown on the screen in front of the steering wheel. Often the first song of the day stays stuck on the steering wheel screen all day.

4. Sometimes it is impossible to get Apple Carplay to connect to Lucid. Tried deleting the iPhone from Lucid bluetooth, and vice versa, but it would not connect. Over time, it was resolved but from time-to-time it still has trouble connecting to Carplay.

Thanks

Hello! Any plan to upgrade the sound scape of the car? I feel like the sounds from various notifications in the car are like Windows 98 error dialog sounds. I'd love for a more streamlined notification sound experience. In my previous cars, all notifications sounded like airplane chimes which gave it a futuristic and calm sound. I'd love lucid to follow this direction (maybe taking a cue from shinkansen train chimes for example), and spacialize in Atmos all notifications :)

I have the SSP in my Air Touring. Can you tell me where all 21 speakers are located? I haven't been able to identify them all.

Hello: I have notice recently, perhaps since the last system update, that the audio has a very high pitch volume that makes it difficult to listen to, like the high-end EQ is significantly higher but it it not when I check the setting. Even the turn signal sounds different, higher pitched. Is this intentional? It is not comfortable. Should I bring this into service? Thank you, BTW, this car is absolutely incredible, I have had nice cars, but this is amazing! :) - Air GT with the upgraded audio (pro)

Is there any delta in the Lucid Air sound quality (decoding) using Apple CarPlay if you are using bluetooth vs. a cable?
Response from Bob: "I don't have any technical data to share on this, but I think it's fairly common knowledge that hardwired is always going to result in better sound quality, as there's no bluetooth compression happening. That said, bluetooth quality has come so far these days, many people find it's hard to hear a difference."

Second the question to have native Apple Music in the car like Tidal. You went to all the trouble to give the car the ability to play Atmos, but source material is limited to only Tidal. Apple has the ability to play Atmos quality but only as a native app.

Recently I went to turn wifi (not bluetooth) off in my iphone and I got a message warning me that the Lucid CarPlay would be disconnected. Does CarPlay use bluetooth or wifi?
This one I can take as it isn't audio, but is a good question. Wireless CarPlay requires Wi-Fi as Bluetooth doesn’t have the necessary bandwidth to send all the data needed to run the CarPlay interface or apps. Bluetooth is just used for the initial connection. It creates a local Wi-Fi connection between your phone and CarPlay. Your phone’s data will still run over cellular during this time.

If you use Wired carplay, then you can use wifi at the same time.

The SSP has so much potential but it seems like it is lacking DSP. It needs more clarity, better sound stage and overall more dynamic sound. Tidal with Dolby Atmos solves some of the complaints but it should sound like that or better with basic Bluetooth streaming. This is $100K plus car and performance is similar to a $30k mainstream car with upgraded audio.

Would this mean that audio is also transmitted through Wi-Fi?

Any plans to try and implement active noise cancellation ?
Response from Colin: "Currently this is not planned. Air has a very quiet cabin with a low noise floor. Some of the negative artifacts that can occur with active noise cancelation could be more detrimental than beneficial. This is something we may consider in the future."

This seems a little unorganized but, the sounds to the front speakers are dead like am radio. Needs clearer mid-range, crisp highs and better processing.

I second the question on Tidal playlist issue (resetting to the head of the playlist instead of resuming where we are)

Generally speaking with the auto industry regarding audio when working with vendors such as Apple or Tidal how much of an advanced notice do you have of new systems or technology in so you can build them into future vehicles? How much of a push-pull system is that with Lucid? For example, are companies seeking Lucid out to showcase their technology or is it the other way around with Lucid going to a vendor to find drivers or signal processing units, etc?

Just a general question on audio levels. I have a Dream Edition P and I feel like with windows down the stereo (usually listening to Spotify through CarPlay) barely gets loud enough to overcome road/wind noise. I don't know how much power the stereo produces, but I am surprised by the lack of volume. Am I missing something?
Interesting feedback. Do you have the latest software? In the retune that came out in 2.5 we added 6dB of gain to the system and to our ears it's satisfyingly loud.
