Lucid Air HiFi & Sound System

Oh yea forgot to mention, I tested the Dolby Playlist on Tidal and it played just fine. No hangups

@borski, @copper, Do you guys know if the Millbrae location offers test drives? I generally hate going anywhere near Valley-Fair/Santana-Row.
I registered for a test drive there during their opening, they told me it would be about 2 weeks and they would call me. That was Dec 11 still no call.

I just did a test drive in a DE from Valley Fair. It was during rush hour but honestly the traffic wasn't bad. Only on the way back was there any real traffic to contend with. Got to go on some local roads and feel how the car handled on some curves. All in all, very excited to be getting one. Now its just the waiting game. The only thing that was odd to me was the autobraking release. Is this a common issue? Hopefully the engineers can tweak that.

What autobraking release? Do you mean the regenerative braking once you take your foot off the accelerator? There are two modes for that: standard and high. High will feel like other EVs (Tesla, etc) and “standard” should feel more comfortable. There’s no way to turn it off entirely, and over time you’ll honestly learn to love one pedal driving.

If you mean the full stop once it’s braked, there’s a setting to “roll” and/or “creep” like an ICE car too - again, you’ll eventually learn to love not needing to use your foot, but that’s an option.

Possible I misunderstood!

You mean the clunking sound? Yea, it's because on the hold mode it physically locks the brakes in to hold it after the motors come to a stop. I'm not sure how other cars handle it but that's how Lucid decided to do it.

Sorry for the confusion. So this would happen to me in this situation. I would slow down using regen braking and allow the car to stop at a traffic light without touching the brake at all. When it was time to go again, I just put my foot back on the accelerator and the car would take a moment, the car would make a more mechanical noise, like it was releasing the brake, and then go. This was separate from the regenerative braking modes that you are referring to, which we were playing around with. It might be more related to the "roll" or "creep" feature you are referring to.

Yea, that's what I'm referring to. That was the only thing that stood out to me I thought could be refined from the driving experience. Other than that, the experience was nothing short of amazing and fun.

Yeah - if you’d prefer to keep your foot on the brake you can do that with roll/creep. Otherwise it does make an obvious sound when it starts going, but I’ve heard that on other cars too - perhaps there’s a way they can make that quieter! You do get used to it though.

The Model 3 is quiet but I'm not sure if they do it via the actual brake or through the motors.

I’ve not experienced a clunking sound on either my I-Pace or e-Tron once the brakes release from a full stop. I don’t recall my MS’ behavior.

I love the regenerative braking on my Leaf which I affectionately call ‘golf cart‘ mode. It now seems weird to drive a car without it. Rarely use the convention brakes unless coming down a hill when a light changes and don’t have time for the regen braking to bring it to a complete stop. No noise when starting back from a complete stop.

The Lexus LS460 has the same function but without the sound when releasing. Just requires a definitive (not hard) accelerator press to ensure the driver's intention. It's like a trigger pull, which might be adjustable in a future software adjustment. On the other hand, you don't want a passing brush to the accelerator to initiate a forward movement!

Mine (and others) just cut off without warning, and stays in that condition, so it's not a loss of signal. It's as if I actually turn the radio off. The worst part is that I am driving and can't fiddle with it. Just accept it until I get home. :-(
I have a singular FM station as a favorite and it has been pretty stable. The exception is if I take a call on the phone via bluetooth the Radio frequently will not come back on after the call. This has happened once so far with 1.1.5. Sometimes switching sources will get it to work again. Often it requires a restart.

Afternoon,

I received my Lucid today and I logged into Tidal…I have the hi Fi plus plan…when I play a Dolby Atmos playlist the songs have Dolby Atmos Highlighted in white….it sounds incredible even though the car in the car has master and hi fi grey out.

I have a HIFI subscription but the Streaming is in High, not HiFi (see attached). Plays o.k but should sound even better if the streaming was on WIFI. Also Tidal seems to stop playing after prolonged use for some unexplainable reason. Switching to radio stations and then back seems to do a Tidal reset of sorts as it starts working again.

Yup to both of these. Customer care is aware (but please email them because more cases means higher priority) and I’ve also let Tidal know, though they haven’t responded.

My concern with them allowing higher bandwidth is Tidal failing even more. Right now it tends to fail on a fairly high frequency when using Atmos, I'm thinking that is from the higher bandwidth requirement.

Has anyone confirmed that Apple Music streaming through bluetooth actually uses Atmos? I've seen no indication of it. AFAIK the only way to use Atmos is the like 30 songs that Tidal has.

Also, fun note:
If you tell Alexa: "Alexa, Read my book" it starts reading your last Audible book and has very basic integrated Audible controls.
