Let’s boast some free juice for a toast!!!

We all know Lucid Air has 2 or 3 years EA free charge without idle penalty. Most of other EV companies have 2 years of 30 min free EA sessions. Let’s post some surprise free juice story here.

I’ll start mine. I’m driving a Rivian back home to Texas from Los Angles. Rivian doesn’t have any free charge contract except their own limited charging network just started growing.

I was looking for EA at Barstow, California. Rivian navigation led me to EA, but I passed by and saw a charging station across freeway, it turned out be Rivian charging station and free to its customers. This was a very pleasant surprise.

I then got to Vegas and use EA. It started out nice with 202 kWh speed, it then got dropped when a Tesla MY came next to me to share load to drop to 37kWh.

To my surprise, another free session, maybe EA comped me for bricking out?

I got there at 11:47pm, but after charging 18 min 53 sec, I unplugged for slower speed. Then invoice says 1 hour 45 mins have elapse. EA has accounting error after session cross midnight?? I thought Germans are suppose be good at math.

I then come to Palazzo Casino & Hotel, another surprise for FREE JUICE all night long!!!

I like that the charging details in the vehicle provide more info on the destination of the charging session. Also, in your EA screenshot, I see a Polestar logo, do you have one as well? Did it come with free charging? Maybe EA mistook your R1S for a Polestar! Lol

I think EA did, it’s on the same Apple Wallet. Polestar 2 gets 2 years charging of 30 minutes session. 2023 onward, that free charge won’t be offered. Superior EA software couldn’t even tell it’s Rivian connected.

Apple Wallet? Lucid delivery guy didn’t say anything about this. Do I need one? I don’t even have a registered EA account on my IPhone.

Well, looks like you have free charging for your Rivian. It’s not on you to insure that their backend system works

If EA plug and charge doesn’t work, you have to authorize the EA charging session in the Lucid app. EA app isn’t needed for Lucid.

You don’t need to download. For Air’s it’s just Plug and Charge like Tesla cars to their supercharging network. But after complimentary period, you will have to download EA and set up a card in Apple Wallet.
