Lease return excess wear & tear

Were you ever able to retrieve the explanation of the charges?
Yes I got access to it yesterday. Too many photos to post it all but pretty much every wheel has a $200 ticket (I think one of those is deserved). Here are a couple examples.

The rest are pretty much in the same category. The interior trim repair $200. I cant even tell what is being pointed at.

If you still have one of these you're leasing, take it to a body shop before you return it. On that list, everything passes their excess wear and tear guidelines except the passenger side rear wheel.

It’s the worn / rubbed phone holder for the charger. I agree this is absurd. There is literally no way to use that phone holder and *not* have it get worn. To me, that seems like the literal definition of normal “wear and tear.”

I’d fight this, but I’ll also say I’m glad I’m not leasing.

Holy Guacamole!! $585 for that tiny "dirt in paint"? And $1,200 for a missing rubber? Wow!!!

Holy crap. Yeah this is indefensible. Can’t believe the normal wear and tear is being charged. Here’s a picture of my 2022 cup holder charger, same marks, no way to use it without those marks occurring.

FWIW, you are "allowed" 11 paint chips on the car at the end of a 3 yr lease, per Lucid's own description. Honestly I am starting to regret leasing this car. I had to go through some logistical backflips to be eligible for leasing. Now every time I am out in the car I am super worried about getting any little scratch or ding. Hey Lucid--nice job taking the positive buzz off getting a new car.

I understand that this is a very concerning issue for lease holders. Please keep the tone respectful toward Lucid, LFS and BofA and employees.

I don't want to discourage comments here because I agree with the vast number of complaints about charges for what I would consider normal wear and tear. I also believe that the return process is creating a very bad look for Lucid and would like to see it corrected as quickly as possible.

Can I ask @borski and @joec why this thread has been moved to the subforum area called "Ordering / Pricing / Production / Delivery"? While I guess some number of future potential lessees may come across it there, the audience it's most relevant to right now are those getting ready to return their vehicle after a lease, and others who are more generally looking into the experience of owning or leasing a Lucid, and I'd bet few of those people are looking in that particular area.

I do know from my role as an admin on another forum how hard it is (and typically thankless) to keep forums well organized, so i respect your work here and of course organization of the posts is your call, just wanted to bring it to your attention in case it was mistakenly put there along the way.

This. As I’ve stated, I agree with this being a serious issue. That said, please lay off posting personal info of employees (of either Lucid or BoA) or direct personal attacks on anyone. Anything like this will be deleted.

I didn’t move it, so I’ll wait for the other mods to respond - I can guarantee it wasn’t done with anything other than an attempt to organize, though. We don’t hide threads or anything. :)

thank you. I didn't infer any bad intent...

if it helps, as long as there are two forum areas for this discussion, my temptation is to crosspost updates to both of those threads which seems silly. If they're both in "general", seems we can let there be one thread for this ongoing discussion and i'd not feel the need to post twice.

Please feel free to delete any of my posts deemed inappropriate. As Lucid has made a decision in my case and I no longer own a Lucid. This is likely my last post in this forum. I appreciate the community and discussion. I'll be keeping my vehicle purchases a bit more mainstream going forward. Lesson learned.

Cheers

Does Lucid have different standards for a 3 year lease vs 18 month?
They all go through the same return process. It’s the inspection where people are getting dinged and everyone will be going through that whether it’s 18,24,36 months.

I understand all will be inspected. I’m curious if they will expect more wear and tear on a 36 month vs shorter. Logic would lead one to believe that yes, they would. Obviously vehicles rack up more wear in an extra 18 months.

At this point in time it seems the inspection company wants a brand new car returned and with how petty they’re being I don’t think they care about the lease term.

They’re not even following Lucid’s wear and tear standards.

At this point, I feel like I’ll pay the residual. I have a ‘23 AWD Pure. Residual is $43k and I’ll be way under the mileage limit of 36k miles. Probably around 26-28k miles. Time will tell.
