Why cant Lucid have an interface that tells you how much battery is left in your key fob? It is so frustrating not knowing and being concerned it may run out when I am at a location.

Not disagreeing, but be aware that you can unlock your car with a dead fob if you need to. Hold it next to the camera on the B pillar and it will work just like the key card, allowing you to unlock, and after entering your pin on the pilot panel, drive.

There's a video of this process in the FAQs of www.lucidupdates.com.

Several years ago, I would get a message that the key fob battery was low (in the Lucid Pilot Panel). I believe after the last key fob software update, I no longer got any messages - but then again, I stopped using the fob because the phone key was pretty reliable, so can’t say if this message is still there.

They removed it for a while but it’s back now.

Where in the pilot panel? Does it show fob battery level only when low or at all levels?

It gives a warning on the left side of the center dashboard where it normally says “Smooth” and your trip odometer.

Oh so the cockpit panel?

I wish we could wirelessly charge the fob, like you do with a watch or hearing aids.

My fob was dead this morning (luckily the other one was fine). I don't believe I ever saw a warning about the battery being low. Also, the car is only a few months old, does the battery really go dead this quickly? I replaced the battery and it's working now, so that must have been it. Am I going to have to replace it every few months, or was just this a bad one from getting the car?

When the naked fob is in range of the car it constantly checks in. This drains the battery. Get a Faraday pouch for the fob or use the mobile key.

My battery started getting weak after 14 months. Annual service replaced it for me.

A dead battery in the fob does not prevent unlocking the car. See Bobby's site for all the tips and tricks, if accessing the on-board owner's manual is too cumbersome.

My fob isn't in range of the car most of the time, just when I'm in it. And I prefer using the fob to the mobile key, it wasn't working that well for me. I'll see how long the new battery lasts.

A few notes:
1. The fob is usable without the battery (though obviously this isn’t ideal). You can hold it up to the B pillar, even without a battery at all, and it will let you unlock the doors.

2. Yes, the fob battery dies quicker than anyone would like, but should last somewhere between 3mo-1yr depending on the battery.

3. To prevent the battery from dying earlier, ensure you buy batteries that don’t have bitterant coating applied, or wipe the batteries with rubbing alcohol well first to remove the bitterant. It, like with Apple AirTags, gets in the way of maintaining a consistent and stable contact connection.
