Issues Gravity Software Updates Haven't Yet Fixed

I know it seems to some that I post about an extraordinary number of issues with Lucids. However, as far as I know, I am the only forum member who has owned 5 early-production Lucids: 2 Air Dream Editions and 3 Gravity Dream Editions.

Given the fact that Lucid issues -- especially software ones -- seem to vary a lot from car to car, if anyone is going to see an outsized number and array of issues, it would likely be me. And not because there is anything unique about where I live or how I use and drive the cars, but simply because I have had so much more exposure to them than most forum members over the past four-plus years.
You've earned (and paid for) the right to expressing your thoughts and opinions. I, have learned from your experience and am grateful for you sharing. Keep on keepin' on....

I've been thinking about this.

If three Gravities owned by contributors to this one thread have experienced this identical problem, these cars are on opposite coasts, and they were manufactured over a span of at least six months, I think it's highly likely that other Gravities are experiencing this problem, too.

I have sent all the photos (mine and @bryway's) and information I have about it to the software team email. I've never had any acknowledgement of receipt or follow-up contact from this team, but I'm hoping someone sees it and addresses it.
As another data point, when I was "installing" my center console bins earlier, I noticed the LED strips in this same area began to pulse in and out (on and off) in several sections of this front passenger dash strip. I have not seen this before, however, it was not super obvious. I don't know for certain if I would have normally caught it.

Yesterday was another roller coaster with our two Gravities. In late afternoon I saw that both Gravities had received 3.5.1 for download. It downloaded without issues in our older Gravity. Since we were going to dinner in the newer Gravity, I held off with the download until we got back home.

When leaving for dinner, the key fob would not open the car, as has increasingly been the case over the past two weeks. So I used the key card. Same thing when leaving dinner to return home. When I got home, I plugged the car in and went inside before starting the download from my app. When I tried, I got a message that the download couldn't proceed. I went to the garage and found that the Gravity had not powered down. The doors were unlocked, the interior lights were still on, and the front and rear exterior lights were running the linear pulse to indicate charging (something that usually stop within a minute after leaving the car).

So I went back inside to retrieve the key fob to use it to lock the car. The car did not respond. So I used the app to lock the car. The driver door locked, and the mirrors folded in, but the other doors remained unlocked and the exterior lights continued to pulse. (This is the opposite of what had been happening over the last few days, when the driver door would sometimes unlock, but the passenger doors would not.)

At this point I called Customer Care. They said their system was showing the left rear door was open. No one had opened that door all day, and we had just driven the car to dinner and back with no indication the door was open. But I checked, anyway, only to find it fully closed. Nor was I getting a warning light on the dashboard showing an open door. When I opened and reclosed it, the car still would not power down, self-lock, or respond to a key fob command. So I used the app to lock the car, and this finally succeeded.

I now ran the 3.5.1 download, hoping the issue would disappear with the update. I also ran a key fob update on all four key fobs. One fob indicated it was up to date (the one I had been using on the newer Gravity), but the other three needed the update. I went back to the car about two hours later after the app showed the download was complete to do the reboot as I always do after an update. The car wouldn't respond to the key fob, so I again had to use the app to lock and unlock the car. I was also getting a warning that the key fob was not detected, although I had replaced the battery a few days ago while attempting to get the fob to work that day.

Thus passed another day of unrelenting Lucid malfunctions.

P.S. This update did not fix the dashboard VIBE lighting issue several owners have been experiencing.

You’re next post should be something like “Yeah, Carvana picked them both up today”.

Not should be, but none of us would be surprised if it was. Hopefully a software miracle fixes the issues with both Gravitys.

Seriously... It's hard to call defeat sometimes, but going through this every day really impacts quality of life and mental well-being

Sorry all this crap keeps happening to your vehicles. You really must have disturbed the cosmic forces, or built your house on a native burial ground, or....

As a guy who’s Air has been in a shop for five weeks, it absolutely sucks. I feel like I don’t even have the car anymore.

His, or yours? :P

I hear ya. That really does suck.

3) When the 2nd row is occupied by 2 car seats or boosters, you cannot access the 3rd row. The seat back does not tilt forward enough to trigger the seat to move forward. Manually moving the seat forward does not allow enough room to enter the 3rd row.
I might be confused here, but if a child seat is occupying a seat which needs to fold forward wouldn't what you say always be a problem on any car?

Yes.

I recently bought an i7 and I tell you what, the tech and luxury is amazing. But the handing…Lucid is still king a nobody can debate that. If I didn’t miss it I wouldn’t be so bummed about the situation

Tech yes; luxury is a bit opulent for me, but that’s the definition of subjective

In the past 36 hours I have taken our newer Gravity DE out four times on local runs. In those 36 hours I experienced these problems: The car is running 3.5.1.

Screen and Steering Wheel Controls Inoperable

This happened twice. During the drive, although the screens stayed up, the car lost the ability to control any UI features. The roller volume knob and the steering thumb pads would not change audio volume; the toggle switches and the Pilot Screen would not adjust climate control; the Pilot Screen home menu and the steering wheel button would not change the drive mode. Both times the car had to be rebooted using a "deep" reboot, in which the X/mic/brake has to be held beyond the first chime until the second time chimes. On the second reboot, the chime never sounded, so I just held the buttons and brake down for a couple of minutes before releasing them.

Easy Entry/Exit would not bring the driver seat to the programmed position

Music quit streaming, and I got a "Media Unavailable" alert.

This happened twice while streaming Tidal. I had a strong cell signal, as the satellite map was functioning properly. Each time a reboot corrected the problem, indicating it was likely with the car and not with Tidal.

Audio Constantly Paused When the Other Gravity was Also on the Road

This has been a problem ever since we got multiple Lucids (an Air and two Gravities). When any two of them are on the road at the same time, they both lose audio no matter if they are sourcing music from different sources (Tidal, Spotify, a USB stick).

Rear Hatch Did Not Seat Fully When Closing Automatically

This problem began some weeks ago. The latch has already been replaced in a vain attempt to fix the problem.

Key Fob Would Not Unlock the Car

This intermittent problem began a couple of weeks before the 3.5.1 update and has recurred since.

Window Moving in Opposite Direction of Switch

When in a midway-down position, when pulling the switch upward to raise the window it lowers instead before then going up after a second pull on the switch. This problem has occurred in both our Gravities on and off for some months.

And . . .

There was nothing unique about these past 36 hours when driving either of these Gravities.

This one is happening to us too, fyi.

The rest is... somehow your cars (not just you, obviously, but you know what I mean). I just have absolutely no idea.

FYI, I'm also experiencing many of these software glitches in the latest release.
Yesterday I was greeted with boot screens graphics of the bear which would not go away until I did a reboot sequence, which worked despite lacking the usual beep confirmation.
Keyfob locking or unlocking based on distance is always a crapshoot, with unpredictable action delay up to never.
The car is still better than it was 6 months ago and I appreciate my favorite Google Maps navigation, but "robustness" is still out of reach for Lucid Software Team.
Worst part is that software failures usually happen at just the right moments when I have no time to admire them due to being late somewhere, which infuriates me and ruins the enjoyment such car should bring to my day. It's an ongoing love/hate relationship.

While I'm probably experiencing more of this than most because we have two Gravities, I'm increasingly convinced from your post and others from @bryway, @Ron_Burgundy, et al, that the problems aren't as isolated to our two cars as I once thought.

Another local Gravity owner who is not on the forum has also begun to see a recent increase in software issues with his Gravity GT.

What's particularly worrisome is that some of us are seeing something beyond ongoing unfixed software issues. We're seeing an actual increase over time in issues, and it does not necessarily occur on the heels of a software update. For the first couple of months, I was relieved to see that our newer Gravity -- manufactured six months after our older Gravity -- was having significantly fewer software issues. It is now neck and neck between the two cars, with the cars sharing some issues but not all.
