Issues Gravity Software Updates Haven't Yet Fixed

I might be confused here, but if a child seat is occupying a seat which needs to fold forward wouldn't what you say always be a problem on any car?
When operating the button to move the seats forward to access the 3rd row, the seat is able to move forward far more than if you simply use the seat move forward/backward adjustment button. Using the adjustment button I’m unable to move the seats forward any further forward than in the picture.

I’d love to move the boosters to the 3rd row, but for whatever reason, the Lucid engineers thought that only adults will sit in the 3rd row, so they didn’t install LATCH anchors.

Front camera doesn’t automatically appear in the clear view cockpit panel when pulling into a parking spot. The top view angle appears in the pilot panel, so the Gravity knows I’m trying to park.

We're experiencing this, too, in both our Gravities. And neither of the parking views come up until you're almost all the way into a parking space unless you hit the button on the Pilot Screen to call them up manually. The parking views come up in our Air much sooner.

I had talked to our mobile tech about installing the upgraded chip in our Air so that it could run UX 3.0 when it becomes available to Air owners, as I like the screen layouts and design better in the Gravity than the Air. But at this point, moving our Air onto 3.0 is the last thing I would consider.

I don’t have a kid yet so pardon my ignorance, but couldn’t you still install them in the rear seats, but with the ratcheting seatbelt tensioner rather than LATCH?

While I'm probably experiencing more of this than most because we have two Gravities, I'm increasingly convinced from your post and others from @bryway, @Ron_Burgundy, et al, that the problems aren't as isolated to our two cars as I once thought.

Another local Gravity owner who is not on the forum has also begun to see a recent increase in software issues with his Gravity GT.

What's particularly worrisome is that some of us are seeing something beyond ongoing unfixed software issues. We're seeing an actual increase over time in issues, and it does not necessarily occur on the heels of a software update. For the first couple of months, I was relieved to see that our newer Gravity -- manufactured six months after our older Gravity -- was having significantly fewer software issues. It is now neck and neck between the two cars, with the cars sharing some issues but not all.
I think the problems at Lucid are much deeper than we had thought. But I think they’re are more prevalent in newer models. It’s like something went wrong in 25-26 that wasn’t there in previous model years with good reputations.

Not to 🧦 up this thread, but my Air has been in service for 6 weeks this time alone. They can’t get parts. They don’t have a way to test app functionality with door locks (they literally asked me for my Lucid account credentials to try something at service with a techs phone!?!)

When I read the service findings, there are all sorts of things like finding cross threaded screws, blisters in factory glass, assembly issues, etc. these are things that shouldn’t be happening over and over again.

I also noticed they are only selling cars in about twenty States now (must be registered in specific states now to lease), this is a good move for their reduced service footprint, but overall doesn’t seem good. According to their recent sales, literally no person in my State can buy a Lucid now.

I have also seen reports that the latest Gravity update has bricked fobs again, or just disconnected the car completely. Who’s going to fix that? How did that happen? It’s pretty wild.

They say a child changes your life, but I’d argue the child seat changes it more 🤣

I also clearly see a trend of increased glitching over time, so I'm convinced there is some memory leak or some resource leak bogging down the software over time. I don't know when Gravity truly resets itself, maybe during update, but even that isn't guaranteed as software could save/restore data over update and some bad data could carry over. The reboot we do is just an infotainment reboot, it certainly is not a full reset as many issues persist over it. Beaty sleep is a much deeper reset, but could also be the source of problems if multiple subsystems get out of sync during sleep/wake cycles. I believe I see a good period for some time after an update, but then old glitches inevitably creep back again. Short sleep cycles seem to be problematic, when you walk around parked car with keyfob in the pocket and car cycles on/off every few minutes, there is a higher chance of some glitch popping up during next drive, IMO.
With modern computing platforms anything is possible and true root cause could be difficult to pinpoint, so I will continue to give Lucid some slack, but not forever. If they don't nail it within a year I will be considering selling the car as these bugs are too annoying to live with forever.

You can certainly install a kid this way, just make sure the belt tension doesn't cut off blood circulation :p

For a car seat yes. We were doing this. However now that my son is bigger and uses a booster seat, this is no longer an option. The only way to secure the booster to the car is via the LATCH anchors.

The latch anchors aren’t required unless it’s a rear facing child seat. The third row wasn’t made for rear facing seats, hence no latch anchors. Front facing and booster seats don’t need latch anchors. Booster seats would just be on the seat and with the child using the seatbelt. If you’re going for the safest method, I’d put my child in the 2nd row all the time if possible anyways. Safer there in case of a rear end collision.

My uneducated diagnosis is that the effectiveness of the OTA fixes seems to degrade over time. But you explained it much better.

Without the latch anchors, the seat will move around too much.

It’s a booster seat, its sole purpose is to raise the child up so the seat belt is in the correct position. Booster seats are not made to stay connected to the car like a car seat. The high back booster seats may have latches as an option. But, they are just that, optional. Backless boosters are just thrown on the seat. I use a high back booster for my son and I do utilize the 2nd row passenger seat latches. But, I don’t criticize Lucid for not putting latch points in the third row.

I imagine that it is very possible that the third row folds into the floor and that may interfere with the requirements for secure latching of a child safety seat. I'm just thinking out loud here but those folding seats might be the reason.

Just curious how a discussion about how to secure baby seats in the Gravity wound up on a thread created to discuss unresolved software issues. I doubt if even properly functioning software will resolve this matter.

Following the trail of posts, it's seems to originate with item #3 of this post.

Yours was probably a rhetorical question, but my motto is "Well, just in case ... ".
Kinda like assumptions. :)

That doesn’t feel like a single bug, more like the car getting into a bad state.

I’d try letting it fully sleep for a while, then see if behavior resets. Also worth removing and re-pairing the fob, and turning off phone key for a bit to rule out interference.

The LED strip still sounds hardware, especially since it’s always the same section.

If all these issues keep happening together, I’d push the service center to look beyond software and check modules instead of just recalibrating.

They claimed they checked modules and wiring connections in a recent almost 4-week stay at the Service Center.
