Yes, but that is because it comes with a lot. The range also creates better performance, flexibility and usability. If all was equal - just 100 more miles and no more power - then I would say no.

200 more bhp and a lot more fun everyday, coupled with making every road trip I take multiple times a year needing at most one 20min stop? Hell yes.

That said, most people will not feel it is worth it and I totally understand why.

Right, 100% but that is why I asked about just the range. If the other things did not matter to you, is it worth it...

Here is the real question:

Is it worth $27,000 (GT - a fully loaded Touring) for an extra 100 miles of range, 200hp, and a more luxurious interior (additional alcantara in the GT).

You are probably right!

The Porsche forum always had the same debates between the Taycan 4S / Turbo / Turbo S. The price difference was huge between the models, and it hardly seemed worth it for more horsepower. But when you configured a 4S or a Turbo with the Turbo S standard options, the gap became much smaller.

I'll tell you one thing. I have not purchased a Tesla due to the simple fact that I cannot stand the interior. The yoke made it even worse. I have been holding out for my GT for 2 years. (FYI, in Canada, and still have not received confirmation of order... I think they have some issues with Canada or something).

The price is worth it to have a nice interior. The Range... added benefit. So is it purely for the Range... no, but it definitely has it's merit.

Just saw this today on Canada deliveries. Supposed to start this spring.

Heh, the twitter poll with over 50 votes is right now 50/50

The baseline for me is my '21 GLS450 (I know, I should've got the 580, lol), at least in regards to option level, which for about 90K includes almost everything. Add about 10-15K for the benefits of EV, and I'm at around 100K. Was really only expecting 350 miles of EV range, so 400 is great. I will miss the massage seats if I end up with the Touring, not so much Alcantara or horsepower (as I have only 352hp now). I'd consider the EQS SUV, but I know it will be about 120-130K with dealer markup and as well not pleased with the MB idea of overdwrought luxury. Touring now, Gravity later I think.

500 means I can get to LA without recharging along the way. Can’t do that on 400.

I bought a GT for the range. Love the luxury and the drive, but if it did not have the 500 miles of range, I would not have bought it and would have continued with an ICE for trips. We have a Nissan Leaf. It has 151 miles of range which means it is only a local car. After 4 years and 60k miles, it has about 130 miles of range. So what you start with is the best you will get and it’s downhill after that. I have charged the leaf at the Level 3 stations, and I cannot tell you how frustrating it is when you need a charge and have to wait because the stations are full, then charge for 30’ after you have waited for a half an hour. One hour later you are back on the road. That is not fun. I actually would like more range than 500 miles so I could drive on a trip and just do destination charging overnight. When the battery degrades, you could still get a decent amount of range before stopping. Unfortunately, it will be years before that is a reality. Yes, I stop for breaks and can charge during them IF THERE IS A CHARGING STATION AVAILABLE. Otherwise, I can make my bladder break and move on if I have the range. So yes, after 4 years in an EV, I definitely am choosing range.

No way - that is a complete ripoff. EV’s need to get where they are affordable and more that 500 of real range. Not this fake stuff where they say 400 or 500 and it is really only 300 give or take.

And on the Tesla yoke, I actually love it and when I get in a car that has an old steering wheel, it feels like stepping back in time. Even my wife loves it, which totally surprises me.

Current technology doesn't allow an affordable EV with over 500 real range. We need a battery revolution in order for that to happen.

Agree - will be a game changer when that happens, unless some better technology takes its place.

I want a car with a mini nuclear reactor inside the size of a golf ball that will power the car for 2,000 years. On second thought 1500 years might be acceptable!😊

I think that's right around the corner:
