How often do you reboot?

Crazy the differences we have. I've had my (2023 model year) car about 18 months and I'd guess I've done a reset 10 times or fewer.

I’ve had my car since Sept 2022 and have rebooted less than 10 times.

I've had my MY25 AirGT for 2 months now and just learned how to reboot too... (SXM connectivity issues...)
I think it would be beneficial for that to be 'shared' as part of the operation & SW review done at delivery when we pick up our vehicles...
(My 2 cents... and constructive criticism...)
I agree with you. It's probably not something Lucid wants to do since it implies that you'll have software problems. But it's something every owner needs to know. If something stops working, be it a dead panel or music or whatever, knowing how to fix it quickly makes it a minor issue instead of a major one that involves calling customer support. Especially for people not on this forum who wouldn't have an easy place to ask questions and get an answer.

I wonder if there is a thread somewhere on this forum that has a description of each of the kinds of reboot, and the types of issues that are associated with each.

I’m aware of the logo reset, and the steering wheel two buttons and brake reset.

But I’ve also heard tell of a “hard” reset, which involves leaving the car? I have no idea what that involves or what it fixes.

(and recently someone mentioned the TCU reset, which requires mobile service but as quick; again not sure what requires it)

So yeah: has all this been compiled somewhere? Thanks.

Probably once every few months. The software is much more stable than the early days.

It depends on what counts as a reboot. Several times lately when I've been parking, the front camera and the birds-eye-view won't come up, and I just get black screens with circular yellow spinning arrows saying the camera is not available. (It did it again this evening when I was parking at a restaurant -- and it reminds me how dependent I've become on that birds-eye-view.) When I get back in the car, the camera images have returned. My understanding is the car reboots when parked and restarted if you get 20 or more feet away from the car for a few minutes. At least that was the case in the early days of UX 1.0 when rebooting was almost a daily occurrence.

Resets are described at https://www.lucidupdates.com/faq.html

There is no "hard" reset. The two-button+brake reset you mentioned used to be the nuclear option, but is now the same as the logo reset. It's just there in case your screen isn't working enough for you to get to the logo reset.

The thing that involves leaving the car is sometimes called the "blinker reset" - not because the blinker actually does anything, but because if you leave the blinker on and walk away from the car, you will see the blinker go off when the car goes to sleep. This is not even a reset/reboot, it's just the normal sleep procedure. Sometimes it un-breaks small infotainment problems without having to wait for an actual reboot.

The TCU is the telematics computer which gives the car access to LTE and GPS and whatnot. If those things aren't working, it might make sense to unplug that module and plug it back in. This is not, however, sanctioned by Lucid as a DIY method.

So, this is what's happening with the camera views returning?

Yup. That sleep state is presumably enough to power down the cameras, and the cameras themselves are what are misbehaving.

Feel like Windows doesn't it?

I found this link by accident (while looking thru this forum) that shows the different kinds of reboots which are listed here under the section Labelled "Software":

There's ALOT of great information for new Lucid owners!

quit using alternate accounts, @Bobby

:P

I have an early '22 AGT. No soft reboots needed with any update until the current: 2.5.0. Now I'm rebooting about weekly, mainly for the FM radio. The blinker noise was off too, but I didn't care since I don't use them...

Same with early ‘22 AGT. I’ve found my native navigation has been freezing or not displaying granular details sometimes since 2.5. It’ll just show road lines. Not sweating it. They’ll fix it.

But what I have found, and sticking with the “reboot” theme here, is switching the map over to offline mode and then back to connected. It reboots your navigation while driving without the need of the Air logo reset which can’t be done while driving. So, yet another way to reboot a specific part of the car if needed. Maybe @Bobby can add to the Lucid Updates site if it can help someone else 🤷‍♂️.
