hi there!! has anyone noticed and/or solved the high pitched “ringing” noise coming from the interior of the car just being “on” - i’ve concluded it is not from the motor.

with this new update, it helped with pinpointing it’s actually coming from the headlights/lighting system… but i’m not exactly sure “why” though? i’ve always generally heard when electrical systems are “on” but this is the first i’ve heard it from a car with i’m going to do some digging here in a bit but wanted to see if anyone knew anything

Change your screen brightness and see if it affects it

Could be HVAC. Could be the LEDs inside the window switches.

They fixed the screen backlight noise in 2.2.2 (for me at least).

ahhhh it seems like i had some internet issues and my edits before i posted didn’t go through :(

so it’s definitely the headlights. i got my first suspicion when i began noticing that it was only happening at night (i don’t drive much during the day since i wfh) and then when we got the update that lets us turn off the lights while parked, i ended up needing to park and sit for a bit and that’s when i put 2+2 together that it’s the headlight system.

again sorry, before i hit post, i had rewrote what i had to say it is coming from the headlights

Interesting...so when you turn off the headlights while sitting and night, and the window switch LEDs are still on, you don't hear the noise?

yep!! when i hit the “off” button on the left side glass panel, the sound turns off and then if i turn it back to “auto/on” the sound comes back. i don’t think the other lights in the car are contributing to it and/or if it is, it’s not the primary source of the issue on my car :))

Yes I have the same issue on my 2024 Touring. Would love to know if this is something that can be fixed, very annoying.

yes, i agree :( most times turning up the music is enough but other times, if i have someone in the car and i’m trying to talk with them… it’s distracting at best, very annoying at worst

i don’t live by a service center so i’ll just be doing research for now until i can pinpoint something to talk with Lucid about or until someone gets our problem solved haha :)

from what i’m looking into though, electronic devices can create high-pitched frequencies due to magnetostrictionsomething something about that, as energy is converted into electricity, the materials in the power supply constrict and release causing the wiring (?) to vibrate, which in certain circumstances can be audible to some people.

the unfortunate part of this concept: magnetostriction is generally not indicative of or the result of a “problem” assuming the device is operating as expected 😕 it’s just a feature of how this stuff works. the other part of this concept, it can be “fixed” so i think there’s hope :)

I tried this on my car, and when I turn the headlights off the window switch lights also turn off. I can also hear the sound more readily with my ear right next to the switches. So I’m not convinced it’s the headlights specifically.

And yes this is most likely a design consequence and not fundamentally a defect. I am just hopeful that whatever company supplies the window switches would have a hardware revision to fix - especially since I've never encountered a noisy window switch in any other car.

Also to be clear, this isn’t endemic to all vehicles. Can you measure the frequency with a microphone? I want to see if it is high enough that age would cause someone to be unable to hear it.

It seems a high enough frequency for that. I will try and record and see if I can't pick out the specific frequency from the power spectrum.

I just started hearing this tonight. Drove for 2 hours this afternoon fine, and then hear high pitched noise immediately when headed to dinner this evening (light ones). I guess it's good I'm not alone, but this is first time it ever happened. Will need to debug tomorrow I hope

I heard it today. I have to really look for it, but it’s just barely there. Play literally any music, at any volume, or drive at any speed, and it’s imperceptible.

To me. YMMV.

It would have to be louder than my tinnitus.
I made the mistake of having my hearing tested.
On ear began rolling-off at 8 kHz, the other at 6 kHz.

I would love to know what frequency it is.

The dash/pilot screen backlight noise - fixed in firmware 2.2.2 - was IIRC something like 8 or 9 kHz. To my ear the window switch noise is a higher frequency but lower amplitude. I have a microphone on order and will try and test when it arrives.
