I asked the Lucid Assistant, "Hey Lucid, what is the weather?" The answer said it could not respond because "location services were not activated" and that I would have to specify a city for the weather. Does anyone know how to turn on location services? It seems reasonable that the Lucid Assistant should have location awareness when responding. Thank you.

I don't know that you can. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, for mysterious reasons. The setting it's referring to is not user-accessible.

Used to work and stopped working after the last update. I gave up on it, it’s a piece of crap that Lucid is dragging its feet on fixing. Soundhound AI won’t be long for the world if they think delivering this shit is going to cut it either.

At this point in time Lucid would be better to just remove the voice assistant all together.

I agree with you that the Lucid Assistant in its current form is immature. You can always turn it off. That is a setting that is user accessible. I keep it on and "play" with it now and then to see how it's doing. But for anything meaningful I go with "Hey, Siri" and CarPlay.

It could be forgiven if the updates to it were plentiful but since releasing it they’ve done nothing. If Lucid doesn’t have the resources to aggressively update these new beta features then they simply shouldn’t release them. It’s a bad look.

I agree with you. However, Tesla has been beta testing full self-driving- and charging a lot extra for it- for many years. I don't think Lucid should simply eliminate the immature and not-so-useful Lucid assistant. Why? Because it checks a box. Almost all cars have a voice assistant of some sort but most of them suck. The one in my last Cadillac Escalade was laughable. The Rivian assistant is a bit better but pretty useless. The Telsa assistant is probably the best of the lot, in my opinion. I wholeheartedly agree that if the Soundhound AI system does not "learn" and improve quickly, Lucid should dump it. I was optimistic because of the splashy press release when it launched, but so far, it's been a disappointment.

Update’s what, tike between updates has increased drastically last year. We are waiting off months for a bug fix and nearly half year for a feature.
I have convinced myself that i bought a vehicle with fixed futures and a dealer visit fixing bugs once or twice a year. Unfortunately thats not what i bought into ☹️

It’s been 43 days since the last update, with a maximum-ever time between updates of 85 days. That’s hardly “once or twice a year.”

Everyone always wants all things faster, but let’s not go and turn a month and a half into “6-12 months” eh?

I think Lucid has been incredibly aggressive with the rollout of new features and bug fixes. Since my AGT was delivered with version 1.2.1, I can say with conviction that the updates have been frequent and meaningful.

I always find it gives me a chuckle when people assume that every feature should take a week to build and every bug only 24 hours to fix.

And those same folks forget, entirely, that not so long ago you were just stuck with it, period.

We live in the future. Sometimes getting to the future means dealing with 56K, then DSL, then cable, and finally fiber. Some of us had a T1 or ISDN line thrown in for good measure. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, good - it means we live in the future and not the past.

One day we will all laugh at how insane it was that cars ever shipped without OTA updates at all, but for now we are building the future, and sometimes that takes time.

Fast is good. Good is better.

Did i say 6 months for updates? I said for new futures it’s nearing 6 months looks like and months for bug fixes. Hoping this is temporary slowdown.

The World is same for every company. Lets see how Rivian is progressing, i am not saying Lucid is not good, i am trying to convince myself as i got a car with fixed software and anything above that is a bonus. But i wish Lucid is 50% better on software work compared to 200% better or driving dynamics and as a Car.

It depends on what you mean by feature. The way @Bobby ranks it it’s just over 4 months since the last feature update.

I’d argue those aren’t features, but major releases. For example, Lucid nav, as of the last update, calculates your return trip mileage. They also retuned the entire sound system. They added the ability to define how long the LCA turn signal is held.

None of those were bugs. They are all, technically, features. All in the most recent update, 43 days ago. 🤷‍♂️

Great! I’m super happy for Rivian (genuinely!) and I like their software too. I agree that their software progression has been faster than Lucid’s. They also have a significantly larger team.

That doesn’t change anything I said, though.

Look, I’m not arguing Lucid’s software is perfect; far from it. I’m just saying that people sometimes have exaggerated expectations that are not equally applied.

For example, there is only one feature I’m “waiting” for, which is hands-free DA. Therefore, waiting for this one feature doesn’t bother me. I’d also like Apple Music in the car, but meh.

If I were waiting on Android Auto, the wait would feel much more excruciating, and that is my only point. Everything feels longer and worse if it’s the thing you specifically care about. That’s not an attack; it’s just fact.

And I’m not defending Lucid’s not having AA or V2H or anything else yet - don’t misunderstand me.

But those not being out yet doesn’t mean Lucid isn’t pushing out useful updates. Both things can be true at the same time. It just doesn’t always feel that way.

I hope that makes sense.
