Gravity Service Appointments and Time In Service

I took delivery late December, so it's early for me - I haven't had the months long and multiple SC visits many on the forum have. Also, I have a Polestar 3 experience that prepared me for this - now, it's a great car!

Lastly, where would I go? After driving this vehicle, where else can I get the acceleration, handling and ergonomics for this price? If I traded it for another, later build Gravity without bugs, I'll lose the Dream Edition.

Nah, I'm good - for now. I went into this with my eyes wide open. But, everyone has their limits...

The answer would be anywhere other than Lucid where you can maintain your sanity - that has to be worth something, no? Your limits are infinitely higher than mine. 😜

Man you guys have way more patience than me - I would have lost my sugar by now and gone the lemon law route.
The problem is once you mention Lemon Law to Lucid (or any car manufacturer) they're going to pass you off from Customer Care/ Service to their Legal dept and then it's time to go lawyer up....ask @hmp10

Yup. Until legal gets involved, Lucid (and any other auto manufacturer) has plenty of options.

Once legal is involved, they are your only option.

Total agreement on the "where would I go".
I'm sure others have alternatives; depends on your criteria.
And a Dream Edition ... yeah, that's special.

And depending upon the impact on your sanity, I highly encourage you to do what works for you. :)
I once had a neighbor who took a baseball bat to his wife's car. Not pretty.
Although I think he took his anger with her out on the car.

Hard to know what they are when you don't hear from them

I’d like to think they’d accept a standard buyback arrangement since they would be forced to anyways. Like I said, I have found Lucid to be friendly and reasonable with other issues. I’m sure we’d both like to avoid legal expenses. I think it helps that it’s a lease, and they can walk away from it for not a lot of money (total paid is maybe $15k so far).

My understanding is that Lucid starts with a mediator. I’ve only lemoned one car (INFINITI) and they fought me tooth and nail but they did that with everything and lost anyways. It also wasn’t a lease. I can’t imagine Lucid would have an internal mediation team if they didn’t intend to do exactly that: mediate.

The usual process is Better Business Bureau complaint and request for buyback, and then lawyer if you have that. So far I’ve engaged none of that, and am happy to discuss with Lucid directly.

They still control the entire process - how and if they respond, what they decide to do to help, how long it takes to get a repair, etc. Everything is out of your control anyway, where Lucid has all the options and you have none.

Once attorneys get involved, then let your attorney deal with theirs - you’ll be out some money but you have the same exact same amount of control as before - none - but with a very clear path to resolution now.

Didn't say they were perfect; just that once legal is involved the options are gone. They may feel gone prior to that, but they're still there... if Lucid responds. :)

True...
I'm really rooting for Lucid to finally prove me wrong so I can come back here and apologize. Until then, my experience and outlook remain pessimistic.

I dont necessarily see that as a problem. Presumably you don't have that conversation unless giving the vehicle back is a satisfactory outcome for you. And while its true that dealing with legal will be different than dealing with customer service, legal will have options for how they resolve a case. Many years ago I sued the IRS, and being move over to the IRS lawyers was a breath of fresh air from dealing with the other parts of the organization. We easily came to a satisfactory agreement and settled the case. The legal team may well have more power to force other parts of the company to be responsive to your complaint than customer service does.

I’ve also heard nothing about them being hard to deal with. Most manufacturers I hear about are pretty chill when it’s obviously in the lemon range for repairs. I would also assume that Lucid had a lot of lemons right now.

On my third visit for warranty work. Each seems like the issues are not resolved or something breaks.

- Front “Lucid” trim separating (3rd attempt)
- Rear gloss black trunk trim replaced lifting again (2nd attempt)
- Both rear taillights cracked from replacing the black trunk trim (2nd attempt)
- Third row is stuck and can’t be moved to the lower compartment (occurred right after 2nd visit)
- Third row driver side headrest doesn't drop when using the infotainment (was suppose to fix on 2nd visit)

It’s been a week in “queue” and hasn’t been seen yet. Although, I did receive a Corvette as a loaner so I’ve been enjoying driving it.

I estimate it takes around 2-3 weeks before a car is seen and fixed. They’re definitely overwhelmed at every service center.

There are definitely Gravities being lemoned right now per conversations with studio.

Not a problem in general, but many people don’t realize that fact; so they go start a case “just in case” and remove all the other options from the table without knowing it.

Of course, if you are wronged, sue. I just usually see it as a last resort, but we live in such a litigious nation that some others see it as a first resort. I, personally, see that as a mistake.
