Gravity Delivery Discussion

I altered it during June I believe. Dropped the HUD and went from Grey to Black. I didn’t know how to amend the tracker.
Thanks, yeah, the tracker is complicated. So you're getting your actual build, then.

I'm just disappointed; one of my configs is very similar to yours on exterior color and what I understand to be the constraint items (I also have power pack instead of full Tech/HUD).... though mine is also $10K pricier than your build (7 seats, leather interior, etc), and I ordered on day 1 (3.5 months earlier than you).... yet still I wait. I really have no clue what the rhyme or reason is to the build order at this point.

I'm not saying I'm not happy for you, but this whole experience is discouraging. I try to keep telling myself I'll be happy to be a later stage guinea pig on key fob and other issues, but my patience is wearing thin.

Texted my SA today just to let him know I’m still here. His quote “ production has jumped tremendously since we last spoke”.
We last spoke(texted) a week ago so I think he actually meant when we talked to him on July 17.
He also said he was on the lookout for configurations close to our order. I let him know that we wanted what we ordered.

I find it very hard to believe that the slow production is due supply issues. Haven’t heard other EV makers saying the same. In Lucid’s own words, this year’s delivery is well into the three digits, that’s less than 1000. They probably planned to sell close to 10,000 Gravities, I would think that they should have stocked enough material to produce that many cars. Any way, that’s the official word, but it doesn’t make sense.

Now knowing from personal experience with part supplied to Lucid, but improperly assembled, supply issues aren't just about availability.

Quality clearly matters.
I recall Peter or one other Lucid leader talking about quality of supplier parts. Lucid sought to minimize that impact by bringing some parts in-house. However, they can't do that with every part.

And the impact of tariffs on Lucid's suppliers is definitely an unknown to the general public.

Didn't think about giving my number but I gave them plenty of info on things still going wrong and asked about pin to drive for a backup for the key issues. Hope they take the time to address those surveys seriously.
A pin is a very good idea. If someone borrows my car, I'm likely to give them the fob, and not a card. If they call me up because the fob won't work, I'd like to be able to give them a pin to get them going.

On the other hand, we have several orders of different products that we've heard from the manufacturers or resellers are delayed, due to supply/sourcing/tariff issues, and none of them are even remotely comparable in complexity to an EV - especially a brand-new model like Gravity. So, I don't find it hard to believe that the supply issues are a significant, if not predominant obstruction to full-scale production.

Marc Winteroff was on MSNBC or Fox Business or something and literally said rare earth magnet availability had slowed production, RJ Scaringe of Rivian said something similar. As for other outsourced parts, if Lucid gets a part that has an issue from a supplier, it’s not easy to just go to another supplier they don’t have a contract with and give them their extremely highly customized design and say “hey build this, the other guys messed it up, can we have it next week to meet production targets?”

I’m hoping mine doesn’t deliver until November actually. I’m only in a hurry to get rid of my MX and get a better vehicle, but I don’t NEED to, I can wait a bit more and as I do, like you mentioned, the kinks get worked out more and more.

Same :)
