Gravity Delivery Discussion

I saw a few more details today and it looks like it's more like 99%. Or maybe I should say it IS just a regular Gravity, with a few different trim and appearance items added. At least it appears that way. Which makes more sense than diverting resources to a significantly different vehicle. Looks like some extra paint here and a sleek roof rack.

This differences in this one-off concept vehicle may be mostly cosmetic. However, if you know anything about Lucid, should it head toward production it will become a significant drain on resources.

Lucid is not a company that will just change wheel offsets, raise the suspension a few inches, gussy up the upholstery stitching, and slap on a new paint color to get "a look". They will thoroughly optimize the suspension geometry and reprogram the control systems to deal with those changes. They will not just grab a set of off-road tires off a rack to slap on the wheels. They will test an array of off-road tires to pick the best for the application and then tinker some more with suspension algorithms. They will re-assess the battery management and coolings systems for off-road duty. Et cetera . . . .

Just look at the engineering interplay between the rear chassis and traction systems of the Air Sapphire and the Air Pure at opposite ends of the trim spectrum when many automakers would have just removed the front motor for the Pure instead of worked through how to apply the learnings from the quarter-million-dollar Sapphire to the "budget" Air.

It's this engineering mania that sets Lucid apart from most automakers and that allows them to produce ground-breaking vehicles.

It's also what makes it excruciatingly hard for them to get cars into production quickly and smoothly.

I hope they stay this way . . . and I hope they survive doing it.

There’s nothing Earth shattering that I am aware of that makes Gravity super hard to build. HUD may be large and new tech, but it’s not a falcon wing door. And yes, I had a super early Tesla X and the FWDs were odd, but they were able to manufacture at scale.
Sure. But they were definitely glitchy. I had an X from the first 6 months of production and I liked it overall. But the FWDs were pretty finicky over the life of my ownership. But you're right they did get it done.

We picked up our Gravity Dream Edition at the Plano TX store. As expected - very nice. We are long time Tesla owners and we were expecting our our two Tesla Level 2 Wall Connectors to work on the Gravity. Neither of them worked - Nothing but red lights. Lucid customer service could not help. Anyone know anything about this incompatibility?
If it's a Gen2, you need to lower the amps to 56A via the dial inside the charger. disconnect power first.

Especially when there's so few service centers.

I've always owned legacy vehicles (mostly Fords), where the dealership is 10 minutes away. The only Lucid service center in my state is an hour from me, and I'm probably lucky to have one that close. I've never experienced mobile service before, but I'm guessing that will be pretty limited on the issues it can handle.

All part of the risks of buying a car from a fledgling EV automaker, I suppose. I knew this going in and am willing to take the risk (I'm more concerned about them even being in business in 3 years), but it's still a little scary. But I wouldn't being doing this if I couldn't afford to take the loss if it doesn't pan out.
I have experienced mobile service with my Model S. and have had upgrades like the larger hepa filter and modifying the charger to accept CCS. Also a window regulator repair. All have been done in my garage very efficiently and professionally. Excellent experience and convenient. Of course this is Tesla and a more “mature” service department.

Anyone here traded their existing vehicle for the Gravity? How was your experience?
Yes - pretty good experience. They do a virtual inspection over MS Teams, and then, after your offer is made, you have 21 days (or 1,000 miles) to take delivery. So you kind of have to time it right once you have a delivery window, but then it was just a simple exchange of old for new during the delivery process (along with relevant paperwork, etc.).

But how long did it take to schedule the mobile service? It used to be quick (7+ years ago), it now is usually a 3+ week where I live in the DMV. Not so great.

They use KBB to value it, so if you want to generally know what they’ll offer, try the KBB site and look at the trade in value.

I don't remember how, but we've ended up with three speed forms. Now a fourth one is apparently on the way. They're nice enough, but I'd still rather have a HUD unit that doesn't send ghosts dancing across our windshield or a navigation system that is not permanently frozen in California.

I kinda feel like a dog being tossed treats in the hope that I'll quit barking.

Perhaps it would be more useful to give a GOLD speed form to the supreme leader, see: 24-karat gold base from Apple CEO Tim Cook
He is the main source of supply chain issues and needs some kowtowing from Lucid's CEO.

According to this X post, white Gravity’s are being produced and visible on the lot at rhe factory! Anxiously awaiting the next flyover 😁 @Adnillien
Don't get hopes up to high if you have a white Gravity on order like I do. Out of several hundred Gravity on the staging lots, there were only about 16 white Gravity today. The rest are Green and Black with the number of black increasing. Below are pictures from the West staging lots, there was only one white Gravity on the East side. I will post a full flyover video when I finish editing it.

Let me know if their offer is competitive. As I am debating Carvana, CarMax for trade in for my MX
I traded in my Cybertruck Foundation series to Lucid for the Gravity DE - and took a bath. I was given 64+K for the car - (new 100K) however Lucid through KBB gave the best offer (other than Tesla which would have given me 69K). All other options were lower priced including the ones you mention above. Overall an easy process- the Teams call got set up by my SA a few days later. The car looked new (of course what damage could be done to a stainless steel finish?). Probably the last Tesla I will buy for a while....

Thanks for the info, Tesla just announced the Luxe package - guess their supposed "refresh" for S / X has not moved the sales meter much

I saw that, but “luxe” means “free” FSD, supercharging, service, etc. No interior changes. Personal opinion X is still woefully behind the Gravity in most areas…except fob. 😏

I got my lucid level 2 home charger installed 2 weeks ago (100 amp breaker). Yesterday I was excited to try charging our new gravity for the first time. I got a message charger connected then preparing to charge followed by clicking sound in the charging unit and a message charging has stopped. I called customer Service and they recommended restarting the home charger. I did that and it seemed to fix the issue. Today the same thing happened, but restating the charger didn’t seem to help. Any idea what could be the problem? Do I need to get back the electrician who installed it?

I’d put this in one of the charging threads and you may get a better response…
