Gravity Delivery Discussion

This is an old photo but no, it’s not. For SUV’s, yes.

Yes, they do.

FYI I also was offered a GT in Aurora Green *with the tech package.* So it seems they may be getting applied not just to DEs at this point.
Might be the Aurora Green I refused 🤪🤷🏻‍♂️.
They wanted me to take one without the Tech Package and I told them NO. It looks like not many takers because I had told them repeatedly that I do not want to take delivery before fall. I am going to wait and see if the prices for used ones fall like the Air GT. The salesman told me that the Tech Package would push the delivery to fall.

They are not selling many more Air’s either so I wonder how they are going to survive burning what 1 to 1.5 Billion $$ on a regular basis.

Yes, I understand that for context purposes, it may be good to know how many cars have no key issues (fob or card). But if I was one of the new owners with key issues and got that response, I might think “Well isn’t that just f—-ing great for you!!!” It might be good for one of the actual early Gravity owners to start a poll to track how many owners have no issue, just key fob issue, key card issue, and I guess eventually mobile key when Lucid releases that. Then we could get better idea of the extent of this problem.
Yes, I recognize that a majority of new owners are not having any key fob or key card issues, but a majority is not acceptable for this critical access issue. The key fob and card need to be 99.999% reliable. The Gravity is Lucid’s critical model to go mainstream and expand their customer base. People like me are coming from Mercedes and BMW where we never think twice about going out with just the one key fob and not have to rely on any potential backups or work arounds.
To me, this is the biggest issue BY FAR for Lucid to address with regard to the release of Gravity.
I would bet they are working hard to address this now. I was informed last night that my soon to be delivered GGT now has a “at least 4+ week delay”. This is a guess here but I believe they are not going to deliver many in July until this issue is resolved. Or my car fell off the truck and they are repairing it..lol.

I understand it can come across as dismissive but what if out of 100 keys, 90 are working and 10 aren’t? It makes a mountain out of a mole hill for something that 90% of owners aren’t having an issue with.

Are these people contacting Lucid to see if it’s an issue with their car or are they just complaining online hoping that venting will fix the issue. Maybe something needs to be checked out and once rectified it works 100% so is it a big issue in that case? 🤷‍♂️

My key works 100% so it’s not a 100% failure rate on all vehicles. It seems in here though everyone is amplifying the issues and others who don’t even own one are piling on. Then those who actually own a Gravity are saying “mine is fine” are told “well, we don’t want to hear from you”.

NFC from the fob didn’t work, FYI.
I wonder if this is similar to the Air where you have to also depress the door handle at the same time. Also, on the Air the position for the key card to unlock is different than the position key fob NFC. The key fob NFC is below the camera on the Air.

That’s incorrect. The gravity is not faster than a McLaren. A McLaren has a top speed of 205+ mph. The Gravity does not. And it’s also not as quick as most McLarens.

Note that I said “as fast as”, not “faster than” A McLaren, nor did I say faster than McLarenS or as fast as most McLarenS.

The only comparison Cammisa drew between a McLaren and the GDE was to say that a McLaren 750 had the same trap speed -- 139 mph -- as the GDE in their tests. He said nothing about their comparative acceleration times, top speeds, or any McLaren model other than a 750.

GDE is #1 in 1/4 mile quickness. (According to Haggerty)

I think you're confusing trap speed with "quickness". The GDE was one of several cars mentioned in the video that ran the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds -- which is the measure of how quickly a car runs the quarter mile. And even the GDE's trap speed was matched by the McLaren 750. In short, of all the cars Hagerty mentioned testing, the GDE was #1 in neither quarter-mile quickness, 0-60 acceleration, nor trap speed.

The GDE is a gob-smacking amazing vehicle -- almost downright unbelievable for a 7-passenger conveyance -- but Hagerty's tests are disciplined enough not to be stretched beyond their actual findings.

As exhilarating as the Hagerty drag race video was, the one I'm really waiting for is full track testing. Whether one large SUV can edge out another in a drag race is immaterial to me in real-world driving terms. Handling dynamics are another matter entirely.

And this is one where I really would like to see a Model X Plaid included.

Got a call from Lucid SA today. I was supposed to pickup my GDE at the Costa Mesa SC on Friday but they said its not ready now. No new date for pickup yet. Ugh!

Any reason given?

NFC cards didn’t work either. They pushed an update to my car (showed 3.2.0 which I already had) but in any case, it resolved the issue. A new update will be coming out in the next day or two addressing this issue among others. This is systematic issue that they are addressing, regardless of how many people are not having problems with their fobs. It just might be that they haven’t been affected “yet”.

Trying to work with my SA to get assigned a VIN asap.

Also ran an insurance quote with AAA and it came back at 7K per year. I suspect this says more about my driving history than anything else.

Wow. We just paid our first 6-month premium to State Farm for our GDE: $557.44.

Respectfully, 10 out of 100 cars not having keys that work would be an actual a mountain, not a molehill.

Respectfully, if 90 out of 100 cars have no issue, that’s a 90% success rate. It’s not ideal, but it’s also not a mountain. It’s a bump that’s worth figuring out/fixing, but let’s keep the scale in perspective.

A good friend of mine has Gravity #70. He had key issues. Lucid sent out a tech and issue has been resolved. I had to laugh a little as my biggest complaint when I took delivery of #40 DE Air, were key related. 🤣 I personally am very happy with the Sapphire and have no need of an SUV. I like my Sierra EV for utility. If I needed to carry 6 people on a regular basis, I would have my order in for a Gravity. Like the Air, not everything is perfect, but it is a very nice second model and many areas are improved. I like it a lot. I'm pretty sure I can trade him the Sapphire for the Gravity from time to time.

I'm sure some of it has to do with the coverage I need, but I'm also sure it has A LOT to do with my driving record. I wasn't the most responsible, and it took me awhile to learn my lesson. History repeated itself a few times.

Something's going on. My GGT VIN changed today. Original vehicle (which "came out of the factory" on 6/28) was supposed to get on a transport last night but no one could confirm it. Waiting for SA to share more details.
