Gravity Delivery Discussion

I spoke to my 3rd SA today after the previous ones have left. He said my GGT has a build slot which means it should build this month hopefully. However, he then went on to say that delivery could be between 1-4 months following that build to make sure it’s right. I definitely want a well built car but a 1-4 month window? Huh?
There’s logistics of shipping car to pre delivery inspection location which is usually not in AZ, then logistics of shipping car to either your studio or to your house which are often fraught by last minute difficulties.

I received a similar call from a new SA today (my second). I have a white GGT ordered with most options selected including the Tech package with the HUD. He said that it is currently slated for a September build slot. This was the first guidance I’ve heard of for a grand touring with Tech package. He also indicated a 1-4 month quality control period before delivery.

Federal Tax Credit (for those leasing, etc) happens to now expire at end of Q3. So there will likely be a big push for that and end of quarter.

At this point, no matter what anyone says, I will be happy with a 2025 delivery even though I have a November 2024 GDE order (have to update that in tracker). It will get here when it gets here. Our GGT is supposed to be much sooner, but I have my expectations set to 12/2025 and hope I am pleasantly surprised.

Our SA is amazing, but SAs don’t control the build and delivery process…

Anyone scheduled for a delivery this week? Come on, need to hear more are coming!
My GGT was delivered to the Chicago service center today. I love close by, so I stopped in and talked to the service mgr. If everything goes well, I'll be picking it up in a couple days

Off to a great start. Dropped the vehicle off yesterday for tint and wrap. Now it doesn’t respond to the key fob and they only gave me one. Hoping to be able to reprogram it from the car. Otherwise I have to go back to the house and get the flat key cards and hope that works.

The key has an NFC chip, so it should work like the keycard. From manual:

Depleted Key Fob Battery
It is still possible to access the car even
if the key fob battery is depleted. To
unlock the car, tap the NFC part of the
key fob on the B pillar.
You can also lock the vehicle in the case
of a depleted key fob. To do this, make
sure the doors, hood, and liftgate are
closed. Then, locate the camera on the
driver’s side of the B Pillar.

Thanks for this. Will give it a try as soon as I am back at the vehicle.

wow. i was seriously hoping the gravity was fixing all the key fob issues that the Air has. I am used to my tesla, i keep a flat key card in my wallet for valets and then just use my phone as my key.. hoping i can go that route and not have to deal with the key fob at all.

As the first few reports of key fob issues with early Gravity deliveries came out, I held off saying anything, hoping that it was maybe one-off. I know some of you are going to say, don’t worry, this is early production and it will get sorted out. Air key fob implementation has been a total train wreck but numerous people on this forum assured us that Gravity was going to use a new key system and we should not worry. Well, I am officially Very, very worried and if this turns in to a repeat of Air, I doubt I will keep my reservation.
I can be patient with a lot of new techy implementation issues such as the HUD or infotainment issues as they fine tune the new UX, but opening and starting my car needs to be 99.9999% reliable and at this point it does not appear to be even 90% reliable based on initial early delivery reports and reports of issues with demo cars in studios.
Also, those of you who respond with “My key fob works great” are not being helpful.

My key fob works great! Actually no issues after pickup. Just adding to context that there must be something going on.

Yeah it’s hard to gauge with small sample size but so far it seems like 4 Gravity owners here are having fob problems, 3 or 4 are not, and the test drive one I drove the fob wasn’t working but card worked fine and they said software update was fixing it. It seems like a stupid problem but I’m assuming it’s priority #1 to fix and will be fixed. In any case I’m not gonna turn down a 7 seater SUV that drives great and is as fast as a McLaren and faster with 2 motors than Rivian is with 4 motors and that can charge faster on Tesla’s network than Tesla all cuz I have to use a keycard until they get the fob issue sorted.

Yes, I understand that for context purposes, it may be good to know how many cars have no key issues (fob or card). But if I was one of the new owners with key issues and got that response, I might think “Well isn’t that just f—-ing great for you!!!” It might be good for one of the actual early Gravity owners to start a poll to track how many owners have no issue, just key fob issue, key card issue, and I guess eventually mobile key when Lucid releases that. Then we could get better idea of the extent of this problem.
Yes, I recognize that a majority of new owners are not having any key fob or key card issues, but a majority is not acceptable for this critical access issue. The key fob and card need to be 99.999% reliable. The Gravity is Lucid’s critical model to go mainstream and expand their customer base. People like me are coming from Mercedes and BMW where we never think twice about going out with just the one key fob and not have to rely on any potential backups or work arounds.
To me, this is the biggest issue BY FAR for Lucid to address with regard to the release of Gravity.

That’s incorrect. The gravity is not faster than a McLaren. A McLaren has a top speed of 205+ mph. The Gravity does not. And it’s also not as quick as most McLarens. Most Mclarens are under 3 second 0-60. The gravity is also not as quick at the R1S 0-60 but it is faster than the R1S as it has a higher top speed than 130.
Fast deals with top speed and quickness deals with acceleration.

The Gravity is not a Ferrari that is intended to be driven once a month on a clear sunny day. It is being advertised to be a daily workhorse, note the “Utility” is SUV. It is intended for soccer moms to take a load of kids to soccer practice and if these soccer moms start getting stranded there with hot, hungry kids and she has to wait a couple hours for a tow and then Uber home with these kids, there is going to be a major exodus away from Lucid. Yes, hopefully this will be sorted out quickly but if it takes more than 6 months (which is when I expect delivery) to achieve 99% reliability, I can say I and a lot of other people will be rethinking their purchases.

It is actually for the V2H capability. The Tesla suggestion was more for those in the transition from CCS to NACS as if they needed to drop some coin on a new charger right now it made no sense to buy a CCS one only to have to use an adaptor or switch it out to a NACS one in the months ahead.

As I no longer have a CCS vehicle I just opted for the NACS LHCS. For now, it's just operating on a 60 amp breaker. Seems there's going to be a tonne of issues getting a 100 amp breaker in let alone all the other costs needed on top when the V2H is actually available. The electrician seems to think the city doesn't allow sub panels to be installed and the power company you need to really justify the necessary increase in amperage for them to approve it to upgrade the panel. Not sure how true this is but his words "good luck with that". Time will tell I guess but won't be looking at it until the V2H stuff is all available.
For v2h I will wait for enphase 2026 solution, that will integrate easier with my enphase system

Note that I said “as fast as”, not “faster than” A McLaren, nor did I say faster than McLarenS or as fast as most McLarenS. We saw the same video, I think it’s just cool the Gravity is even in the same ballpark as any Mclaren metric. But I guess it’s working key fobs that get people more excited these days haha.
