Gravity Delivery Discussion

It’s available in the mobile app after you take delivery. There’s not a physical one in the glove box which I’m fine with, save some trees. For the rare times it’s needed the mobile app works.
Needs a "search" box though

You know more than me on that one. I never knew they even existed. Guessing they were just prototypes / promos but they make sense. Maybe they’ll show up in the store at some point.

I do think the Gravity lends itself to have a bunch of accessories made for it so expect more things to just pop up in the store as time goes by.

Starting at 1:01 this short video shows both the bento boxes and a second pair of larger cupholders for the Gravity.

Any check list suggestions before taking delivery of GDE!

As Apple Car play is not active yet does tidal work? Have to drive a long way back after delivery so would like to know which music apps work.
Thank you
The Bluetooth should work fine on the car, so you can still listen to music from your iPhone, just not native to the car. Not ideal, but just temporary until they turn on carplay.

Has the same apps as the Air. TiDAL, Spotify, SiriusXM, TuneIn, etc

I respectfully disagree……

Lucid enthusiasts will accept such deficiencies, but regular buyers won’t. Lucid is trying to ramp up sales, such software deficiencies doesn’t help.
I think every Gravity buyer knows they're an early adopter. Even though it's a luxury brand (so far), there's no getting around what it means to buy an EV from a start-up EV maker, and especially a brand new model. My Ford Mustang Mach-E was the same way when I bought one of the first ones in early 2021, and I'm sure others that bought 1st-year EVs would report the same. It just comes with the territory.

Frustrating, especially for this kind of money? Sure. But it is what it is. Anyone that can't live with early adopter blues (90% working well but 10% a work in progress) for a while would probably be better served looking at a more established automaker and model.

Looks as if Monday will be a dual-purpose visit. I was washing the Air today to get it ready for the drive over to Miami to take delivery of the Gravity. For the umpteenth time, the frunk lid jammed without correcting through a reboot. I dared not try again, as the last time I kept trying to coax it open, it jammed hard and would neither open nor close completely, thereby putting the car into limp mode and making it undriveable. It had to be towed across the state, and they found the hinges had loosened and thrown the lid out of alignment.

Lord, please tell me the Gravity frunk lid is not as problem-prone.

No bear decals? Or will they be applied later?

I was originally told the bear decals were applied to the DEs during delivery prep at the Service Center. Consequently as the car is going to get a PPF wrap, I asked my SA to put in a request to have them given to me instead of mounted on the car, and he agreed.

However, someone has posted since that the decals are actually put on at the factory. I guess I'll find out Monday.

We were inclined not to put them on after the wrap, but after seeing @HC_79's and @borski's photos, we might be changing our minds.

Decisions, decisions . . . .

The decals are nicely done on the Gravity. They’re not just a sticker but actual metal that is raised slightly off the panel.

From what my SA told me, the bears were put on at the factory, not at studio. I know for sure they were not put on at Legacy West when I picked it up... I cannot confirm that it arrived in Houston for PDI with (or without) them. Just passing along what I was told.

Mine weren’t on the car when it arrived at Torrance. I assume it was the PDI/Detailing team that put them on at Torrance.

I haven't had any issues with opening or closing the frunk or trunk... Though I did want to give everyone a heads up regarding the Trunk.... I had it in my garage with the garage door closed and went to open it. I didn't realize how much clearance you need behind the car to allow it to open without the lip of the trunk hitting the garage door (or wall if you're backed in). Something I'm not used to from my previous car that had a hatch that basically goes UP, not Back AND Up. I definitely had a close call!

Yeah

, but no homelink? This is embarrassing
This Homelink issue appears to be an evolving and uncertain issue at this point. There are two issues to consider. First is the missing hardware. It was mentioned that some Volvo’s are missing Homelink recently, but there is no indication that this is a widespread problem to all manufacturers. Possibly a supply chain issue that is affecting the smaller producers (Lucid, Volvo) more than the big guys.
The bigger issue is if this is going to be an optional extra cost for the hardware on non DE cars and then if there will be an ongoing subscription cost for its use. I agree that this situation is being driven by some less than desirable money grab decisions by Gentex and beyond control by Lucid. The key question is how will Lucid handle these changes. If Lucid’s competition in the luxury car market (I am talking about Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Cadillac and not just Tesla) choose to pass these costs on to their customers, then I will reluctantly pay the cost and think badly of Gentex and not Lucid. But if however the competition choose to eat the costs and not pass them on to customers (at least include first 3 years of subscription), then this could become a major bitch point among future Lucid customers.

Finally, we have what are some people’s favorite subject on this forum - Workarounds
1. Just use the clicker that came with your door opener. First, with how the Gravity visors hang out in the middle of the huge windshield, I am not going to clip a remote onto it and make the visor even more noticeable/ugly. Second, sticking the remote in the side pocket or center console, dooms it to disappear amongst all the other crap you stick there.
2. Use one of the third party systems like ratgdo or tailwind. I actually have Tailwind installed at my house. First, it is not free. The hardware costs a couple hundred but there is no subscription cost (at least for now.) Second, although not difficult to install, it was definitely more difficult than just syncing Homelink to an existing opener. Third, it is not rock solid reliable like Homelink and although I like the auto open feature, I don’t use the auto close feature just in case there is something hanging out into door opening that is not picked up by IR sensors. The door opening/closing phone notifications are nice though. Thus why it is an adjunct to my Homelink and not a replacement.

Can we please move on from Homelink?
Or perhaps continue the discussion in the Gravity Functioning Features thread.

A quick google search shows that Tesla charges for Homelink on the Model 3/Y but includes it for free on the Model S/X. Based on this, Lucid had better not be charging for Homelink on Gravity but maybe OK for the future Earth model. If they do decide to charge on Gravity, then as Ricky Ricardo would say “Lucid, you got some splainin’ to do!!”
