Gravity Delivery Discussion

I believe they will honor the price, as they did with the Air (remember the backlash Rivian faced?). However, if people are still hesitant about placing an order, they should consider doing so, as there’s a decent risk of the pricing increasing.
I posted about this months ago when tariffs first became an issue. I am not a lawyer, but I carefully read the purchase agreement; it is a binding contract, and the price is fixed at the amount specified on the "Final Price Sheet" sent to you after placing your order. As far as I can tell, we are covered.

I got this email from Lucid this morning:

This is very similar to the "special invitation" I got late last summer for a similar event in West Palm Beach. To me, it still gives off the vibe of the unveiling of a new product, not something that went into production last fall and has supposedly been delivered to over 100 customers over the past two and a half months.

No mention that we'd see a production Gravity instead of one of the prototypes that has been on the show circuit around Lucid Design Studios and other venues for months now. No mention of test drives. No suggestion of current availability. In fact, this "welcoming the arrival" of the Gravity seems little different from what visitors to the L.A. Auto Show could have experienced in November 2023 when the Gravity's arrival was also welcomed.

This timpani roll is turning into the longest in automotive history.

One more time with feeling!

Are you going to NYC?

Yeah, I keep seeing Cadillac Escalade IQ and IQL spamming out across youtube and comparisons to this in it. The Escalade hasn't even finish EPA testing yet, although I do think it will do more miles than the Gravity....

While I would not be able to attend anyway, it is another poor customer relations/communication situation for Lucid. I too bought a Dream Edition Air and was one of the very few customers that received it in the first week of Jan 2022 in their initial roll out. I also have booked the Gravity Dream (albeit not as early as some of you here). I am still surprised that I have not received this same email. Again, not complaining, just an observation. I wonder what the differentiating factor is to determine who is invited and who isn't? Any other DE owners (that have booked both models) receive this email?

I'm assuming it's regional - ie if your sales center is not NYC, you didn't get the email? I didn't get the email. I am jealous. If they have one at Tysons (Washington DC) and I don't get invited, I will be bummed. I haven't even seen a prototype, so I'd take that.

But man, the sales effort on this has been really, really poorly executed IMO.

I live in Florida, and my Gravity is set up for delivery out of the Miami Brickell studio.

At times it looks, at best, like a very genteel effort at potemkinism.

Why can’t Lucid just come out and tell us what is really going on? I think a lot of minds would be put to rest if we were told why precious little has been revealed, and why so few cars have been delivered.

What’s the hang up? What could be so terrible that it would cause any of us to change our minds about ordering the Gravity? We’re a pretty committed group here.

I am in NYC if someone wants to sign me up to get some photos. I was invited to the last event 2023, crickets this far

I am reading IQ is too heavy to be EPA tested from car and driver

well now I'm irritated! Lol. I guess you're more specialer than I am. Oh well, *shrug.*

I even have TWO Gravities on order! (not necessarily by design - it's just how poorly thought out the pre-ordering thing is)

Total agreement on the potemkinism.

For those who've never heard of Lucid, this stuff might get their attention, but for others with knowledge, almost an insult to our intelligence.

If I didn't know about the mostly positive service experiences of Air owners, I'd be kinda leery of Lucid at this point.

Makes me wonder what customers with Gravity orders, but getting no information from a forum or FB group, are thinking as they wait.

Even after deliveries start, the obvious question remains, what the heck was going on from Nov. 7 to mainstream deliveries. As has been said on here, the excitement/momentum from the December delivery announcement is minimal, especially for those with early orders.

Long time since I heard Potemkinism brought up. Nice to see, lol.

Remind me of this quote: (shortened for ease)

"...talking divinity to his generals and tactics to his bishops; never reading, but pumping everyone with whom he converses; uncommonly affable or extremely savage, the most attractive or most repulsive of manners; concealing under the appearance of harshness, the greatest benevolence of heart, like a child, wanting to have everything, or, like a great man, knowing how to do without;..."

Gravity is testing our want to have everything... but we must be great men and learn how to do without.

During the last earnings call the Interim CEO responded to an investor's question about the pace of production and deliveries with an attitude of "this isn't abnormal, everything is fine". My question for the next call is "Why the lack of updates on the status of deliveries? The December deliveries, whether intended or not sent a message that indicated deliveries had begun, but then there was a 3 to ? month period of no deliveries and unconfirmed reports of registrations".

Better known as testing our patience and intelligence.

We are not a developing country on the cusp of newly gained access to modern products.

I disagree, they have been fairly transparent saying it was a "Friend's and Family" delivery to mark the end-of-the-year deadline. I agree it is unfortunate they haven't yet given more information, but they are certainly doing events and giving people sneak peaks.

I stopped by a Volvo dealership yesterday to finally look at an EX90 in person.
I was thinking perhaps it will look better in person than on screen, like some recommend to those who don't like the look of the Gravity, see it in person and change their opinion.

Nope! Didn't work!
Told the salesperson, I had ordered a Gravity and was just looking for a potential backup in case things somehow went south.

His response, with wide eyes:
"You ordered a Gravity!? Man that's a nice car. We sit in the showroom at our desks and configure different versions".
He gave me a fist bump and said "nice job".
