Gravity Delivery Discussion

I disagree, they have been fairly transparent saying it was a "Friend's and Family" delivery to mark the end-of-the-year deadline. I agree it is unfortunate they haven't yet given more information, but they are certainly doing events and giving people sneak peaks.
They were transparent in saying it was a "Friends and Family" delivery event.
Unless I missed it, they didn't say the purpose of the event was to mark/meet the end-of-year deadline.
And yet, we've speculated on here that the was probably the intent of the event; doing what they said they would do.
So, let's call the event an "unintended message" to me that deliveries had started, but it's not that event alone.

Peter did mention that initial deliveries would go to showrooms. No problem.
It's the lack of updates.
Bring us to the door, let a few people in, let us know who will be in the next group to enter, and then nothing.
Oh and by the way, put your name on the list to possibly be in the next group to enter.
And while you wait, we're going to tell others about what you're waiting on, so they can get in line behind you.

I suppose you could say, they will give us another update after the let the next group (showrooms) in.
True, but clearly you know how to communicate. I see your social media posts about EVERYTHING else except what I'm wondering about.
Stop teasing me!

If there is a supplier issue they are working through (as they've said) then the end of year event could have been basically to just build what they would build right now today, but with the available parts that were hand-selected from the supplier in question. Basically, it was easy enough to find 9 of them that fit the bill, but doing so with 5,000 of them is not feasible.

Lucid’s focus on the Air rather than the Gravity in its social media posts, along with the slow trickle of reviews, likely reflects a strategic effort to manage expectations. A rocky launch could further impact their already declining stock price, and senior executives in investor relations may be particularly concerned about the risk of delisting if the stock falls too far—jeopardizing future opportunities for the company.

Definitely possible.
As @bryway once said, we shouldn't have to read the tea leaves or something like that. 😀

Yeah, stock price decline as a result of production issues or whatever is reason enough to keep us in the dark.

Better known as testing our patience and intelligence.

We are not a developing country on the cusp of newly gained access to modern products.
I few thinks I learned delving in the last couple of weeks. I would like to give them time to get it correct and truly be world class.
1. I heard they are working on software right now.
2. Sounds like Denver, CO will be opening demos and have a car in the design studio sometime May or June.
3. Lucid was supposed to have an event in Salt Lake City but scheduling could not make it work - whatever that means.
4, Talking with sales, no real difference in delivery times between GT and DE. No time limit on changing to DE at this time.

It's difficult to understand why color choices and seat configurations would be limited only for DEs, if this is correct.

This is probably because the inverse is equally true if you have to dedicate a certain part of the production line to DE.

I agree that whatever is wrong is not being said due to potential fear the stock price could go into delisting territory. If it ever goes under $1 I believe they've got 30 days to get above it or face delisting. The problem though is that they're continuing to present something that simply isn't true. Go to the website and the final Gravity video is "First Deliveries" with no mention of it being VIP only leading people to assume deliveries are underway.

Main page for Gravity is saying "Order now" vs "Reserve"

Social Media is making out the car is available

At this rate, the snow will be long gone before the Gravity is even delivered. As others have pointed out, its kind of like rubbing it in your face while not giving anyone any solid info of when to expect the car or where they are in line, etc.

My bet is the entire production line will be dedicated to DE until they run out of orders for DE (and eventually everyone will be able to order DE, they're not going to leave any money on the table)

I think they've always said that they'll build the more loaded configs first, one of a few priority points including prior ownership. So a loaded GT in the right colors and trims might be able to be built alongside the DEs.

Question. Lucid said on their earnings call that they would be having a big event in NY in March. So, is this March 27 event going to be their "big" marketing event? Only to select individuals? If it is, they need to go back to marketing class.

Well everyone will clearly know what the event entails invited or not. Just the ones invited get to see what it is in person first.

You’re not invited to the Oscars but you still get to see who won all the awards without an invite. 🤷‍♂️

Nyc studio said they will have a Gravity in their showroom at the end of March

It really depends if media was invited and they do more than just have a showroom event. Lucid needs more mainstream media coverage and not just ev content media and leaked images/videos from Lucid owners/perspective buyers. That would just be the same old thing and not upping their marketing. That said, I'm really hoping it makes a big splash and wish I could be there in NY as I missed the prototype when it was in the DC area. Can't wait for Gravities to appear in showrooms.

Simple update on my personal Gravity Order. Twice I was emailed regarding ordering Gravity DE. Twice I responded with "please just tell me when I can purchase the vehicle I ordered". Crickets. Heck, I would be willing to pay the additional $14k for DE, but just don't add the DE options (I don't want more hp, I don't want a sticker of a bear on the front panel, and I definitely don't want less range), if I knew it would give me a date-certain for receiving the vehicle. I have invested significantly in clean energy businesses and watched several fail as they could not deliver. If I was asked to bet, I would bet there is a less that 40% chance that Lucid delivers. My real hope is that their IP gets purchased by a car company that knows how to manufacture - and how to communicate. I would love if Lucid followed an Intel model (e.g. MB, with Lucid battery and motor tech inside, Toyota, with Lucid battery and motor tech inside, etc etc) So, I am giving Lucid until 1 June to tell me when I will receive the vehicle. Three things can happen, in my mind: 1. They never respond, so I ask for my $1k back, 2. They respond, telling me it will be in 2026, so I will ask for my $1k back or 3. They respond, telling me it will be in X month of 2025, whereby I will plan accordingly to sell my ICE and buy the Lucid Gravity. For perspective, I drove an X for 5 years, so I have a good feel for what works and what does not work for my personal needs.

Given that Lucid has been delivering Air since 2022, I would put the odds of Lucid delivering Gravity at 99%. As far as a comparison to Intel, from a financial perspective Intel is was of the worst companies in the semiconductor industry. There cost structure is completely out of line with the rest of the industry and they are getting beat on the technology front by TSMC, Global Foundries and Samsung. Definitely not a model that I want to see Lucid follow.

Maybe a NVIDIA model, Lucid's core capabilities are in technology, R&D and Engineering.

I chuckled a bit when I read your #1. My sales center hasn't broken their silence since I converted my Gravity order from the GT to the Dream Edition. Despite calls, my GT still sits in "Cancellation requested" purgatory, and I have yet to receive a refund for that $1000 deposit. At this rate, I don't really expect any traction until they actually start delivering cars and reach out to let me know where I am in the production line. Which is par for the course I guess.

Also, I thought it was odd that the date and time on the GT order changed from 7 November ~9:00a to the day AFTER my Dream Edition order was placed (27 February). Maybe that date represents the date the cancellation was requested? Who knows? The rational side of my brain says that's the case, but the other part of me wants an actual confirmation of cancellation, and my $1K refund.
