Gravity Delivery Discussion

it appears the sail panel (sides of the roof) are white - or is that a reflection from the overcast skies?
That’s a reflection. I think they’re platinum.

I think it’s called a cantrail, based on what folks on forum have said.
Yes, the cantrails are in the Platinum trim. I will be platinum deleting at some point in the near future. Hopefully heading to the wrap shop this afternoon to pick out the vinyl that will match the wheels the best.

My fully loaded Green GGT has finished production and is factory gated. SA said that it should be in Houston by next week. If all the stars line up and transport/PDI etc go super fast with no issues, I might have by Thanksgiving but more likely sometime the week after Thanksgiving.

Details:
Ordered - 4/28/2025
In Production - 11/13/2025
Complete Production - 11/19/2025
Dashboard just flipped to Preparing for Delivery this morning. I thought I remember some posting here that usually means that car is at SC. Still not updating of manual or software on that page but I hear that can sometimes not show until day before or day of delivery.

Tried to take delivery yesterday of the Dream Edition I’d been waiting for since April.

Made it precisely 3 feet before an alert popped up “PULL OVER NOW - CONTACT SERVICE”. Apparently a drive unit fault?

They gave me a loaner and sent me home.

The wait continues.

(Staff was great. No complaints there.)
Sorry to hear that. Hope it’s a simple fix. At least it happened at the dealership and not in a middle of a road trip but hearing issues like this isn’t inspiring any confidence in the vehicle and is just making me more nervous about my upcoming delivery (GGT just went into production last week). Did they at least give you a comparable loaner?

Upgrading from Touring to Grand Touring costs $15K, and the benefits are 33% increased range and 48% more horsepower.

For me, the horsepower would be nearly meaningless, but I really appreciate the greater range. Not just because of the increased distance between charges, but also because you can charge to a reasonable range much faster.* And as the battery degrades over its lifetime, the smaller pack would become increasingly inconvenient. I'm glad I got a GT.

I haven't finished the breaking in period yet (I'm at about 1450 miles), but right now a fully charged pack would take me about 330 miles at highway speeds. Assuming this ends up around 340 once the breaking in period is done, switching to a Touring would mean my max range would be about 270. In my Model S, my real max was about 230, and there were many occasions when I was white knuckling to the next charger.

* I assume charging speeds are similar between the two battery packs, but you'd approach the top end of a smaller battery much sooner. I see charging speed begin to taper off around 50% SoC.
This is also where my head is at. I'm ordering the 450 range config, because one of my top reasons for even considering spending silly money on a vehicle is to maximize my road-trip options. I tend to drive fast, so if I get 80% of EPA range I'd consider that a great result. I usual keep my vehicles for a long time, so I also factor in 10% battery degradation. And I drive in cold winter weather, so put in another 10-15% range reduction for that. Then add in not wanting to charge past 80% to keep charging stop time low, and 5% remaining when reaching the station to give some wiggle room, and that's 75% of capacity usable. Suddenly that 450 range could be as low as 207 miles between charging stops. That's very satisfactory. But do the same math when the EPA range is 337, and you get 155 miles, which is too short for my tastes.

Didn't get a good pic, but got this bad boy delivered in the rain today....
Looks great! I think it'll be nice in Lunar Titanium as well.

I see the Car and Driver 75 mph test for the touring actually achieved only 77% of EPA range, so the math is actually a bit worse than my 80% figure.

They didn’t have a Gravity to loan, so they gave me an Air.

That’s what I’d expect. It’s the same as our R1S give or take. R1S is usually about 70% of EPA - G1 Quad.

Yes, but it’s kind of a meaningless difference of four minutes to 200 miles. 15 for GT and 11 for GGT.

Honestly, the range loss with GT doesn’t bother me given the charge speeds and NACS.

The HP is likely an artificial limit used to get to the range they wanted, right? Can’t imagine they’re using different motors when it’s clear that aside from battery, they purposely kept everything else the same to ease production (I think).
4 minutes longer on the spec sheet - more if you arrive at the charger at a higher SOC. But agree - not a huge deal. I'd be more concerned about the range, but this could be unique to my location in AZ and the relative dearth of DCFC stations on freeways between AZ and any adjacent states. Having Tesla SC access is a huge difference maker for road trips in this area, though.

I get it - the $15K premium for GGT does appear to be excessive, especially given the lack of other differences. The Air had many differences between Touring and GT, so I'm surprised they didn't continue with this strategy. Manufacturing costs, perhaps? I went all-in on option packages, so if the choice was between GT and GGT when I ordered a year ago, I still would have gone with the GGT.

I was able to see manual and updates history 2 days before delivery
I still can't see the manual, and it was delivered 11/3. 🤨

I ended up taking a GGT with tech package, Aurora Green, Tahoe, and everything but the SSPro that was in Chicago with 10.5K of discounts applied that came out to within 1K of a loaded AG Touring on the website. Will get delivery on Black Friday:)

Yes definitely great GGT incentives for leasee that waited!

There she is, home delivered this morning.
Punch list is pretty long, but Lucid will take care of all the stuff. The main things such as wheels, are there.

Congrats!

I pass 2+ Airs a day. I always wave. No one ever waves back. 😢
I flash my light at other Lucids. I get a flash in return about 50% of the time, but as they are going the other way, they need to be really quick!
