My GGT remains in Chicago. It was set to be delivered today to my house in Michigan. The steering rack has to be replaced and they have no idea when I will get my vehicle, "probably" by EOM. I waited 9 months... I can wait a few more days. But, MAN it still feels like Christmas was cancelled on Christmas Eve.....
 
Earlier post seems to think the EV credit of $7500 applies to a gravity. Not true, the credit tops out at $80K. The way Lucid is appling the credit is via a lease and they are just knocking $7500 off.

Leasing has always been a loophole in getting the credit for vehicles over $80k (and regardless of income or where the battery was manufactured) because it can be counted as a fleet vehicle, it's not a specifically a Lucid thing.
 
Anyone taking delivery this week or weekend? Feels like production ramped but deliveries stalled. Perhaps Lucid is waiting to push the next OTA? One can hope!

No, electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers do not directly receive the "fleet tax credit"
. The Commercial Clean Vehicle Tax Credit (often called the fleet credit) is claimed by the business or tax-exempt organization that purchases the vehicle for its fleet.
EV manufacturers must, however, meet specific requirements and enter into an agreement with the IRS to ensure that their vehicles are eligible for purchasers to claim the credit.
How the fleet tax credit works
  • Who receives the credit: The federal tax credit is for the commercial buyer, such as a company, school district, or tax-exempt organization, that buys a qualified clean vehicle for its fleet.
  • What manufacturers must do: Manufacturers must qualify their vehicles with the IRS and report necessary vehicle information to ensure the buyer can receive the tax credit.
  • Credit amounts: The credit can be substantial, depending on the vehicle's weight:
    • Up to $7,500 for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) under 14,000 pounds.
    • Up to $40,000 for vehicles with a GVWR of 14,000 pounds or more, such as electric school buses or heavy-duty trucks.
Impact of the credit on manufacturers
While they are not the direct recipient, the fleet tax credit still has a significant impact on manufacturers.
  • Demand driver: By making EVs more affordable for fleet operators, the tax credit boosts commercial demand for eligible electric vehicles.
  • Incentive for production: This incentivizes manufacturers to produce qualified vehicles and invest in their American supply chain to maintain eligibility for the credits.
  • Reporting requirements: The administrative process of registering with the IRS and reporting vehicle data is required for manufacturers to make their vehicles credit-eligible for fleet customers.

God, I don't need another speedform. I have 3. I need 0. I guess I'm stuck with one since I opened the box but I have 2 more. Anyone want one of them?

PS why did a company obsessed with efficiency send the speedforms, which are packaged nicely in a vacuum formed padded box roughly the size of an iPhone box (actually a bit smaller), inside a much larger cardboard box that needed additional paper padding inside?

My SA is attempting to arrange a Saturday at home delivery for me. Car has cleared inspection in Roswell, as of this morning. (Roswell, GA -- it's not in Area 51, afaik.)

Are you saying that your particular GGT with Tech will go into production, or are you saying that 20 random GGTs with Tech will go into production in early October?

My understanding based on what my SA told me is that the $80K limit applies only to individuals not corporations. With a lease the vehicle is purchased by the leasing company who then passes the credit through to the consumer. Once the credit expires at the end of the month then it will be a case of Lucid just knocking $7500 off the purchase price.
 
My SA called to let me know my GDE gated (finished assembly at factory) at 4:08 pm today (local AZ time). This is going to be fun playing the waiting game. He is saying 2-4 weeks. We shall see.

There's been some speculation that Lucid continuing the $7500 credit for people with orders in place and delivery before the end of the year is due to them finding a loophole that allows them to claim the credit even after the recent legislation. I have no knowledge or opinion about how likely that is to be correct.

My SA is claiming it’s because of the change in language to the new law that states any order placed before the expiration of the rebate will still be honored. Since the Gravity is still back-ordered and presumably the vast majority of those orders were placed longer than a few weeks ago, those customers should be grandfathered in anywa.

So, it sounds like you can get the $7,500 lease credit after September 30th as long as a down payment & “written binding contract” was made prior to that (acquired), and then if the vehicle being put in service after Sept. 30th it is covered. Correct? I made a $1,000 down payment for a DE. I don’t recall entering into a written binding contract, but I was told DE deposits were non-refundable, and undoubtably I clicked through on something that could be considered an agreement. I haven’t determined whether I’m leasing or buying. (I was planning on buying, but the issues @hmp10 is having is making me reconsider leasing.)
