Gravity Delivery Discussion

Question about delivery day: should I accept a car that has issues when inspected at delivery? Or is it better to note them, ask Lucid to correct them before delivery, and reschedule the delivery day? If I try the latter, is it known whether Lucid will or won't do that?

This probably should be under the Gravity Ordering discussion, but that's closed for replies. Did anyone else get an email with the subject "Lucid Gravity Dream Edition orders are closed"?
I just received that email today also, even though my DE was already in production as of a few weeks ago.

I got one as well. I think many people got the email. Either they are willing to make more or they have already finished ones that didn’t pass QA initially. No idea. I am still waiting for my GGT ordered last December.
I did... It says ordering is closed, but contact your SA if interested in one. Mixed messaging 🙂
They are reserved, but not delivered. Contacting your SA would be to get on a waitlist for any cancellations.

My Air DE was one I was originally on the waitlist for.

It depends on the issues. Panel gaps? A missing seal? Homelink or some feature not working? Note those at delivery and they will put it on a due bill for a service visit.

They will note all the issues and resolve them. They have always historically been very very good about this.

OTOH, if a motor doesn’t work? Don’t accept the car. :p

Got a weird email today telling me "You secured your Lucid Gravity Dream Edition". Uh yeah, guy, I know. I thought I did that back in April.

yeah i know.webp

I'm guessing this signifies that all GDE are finally spoken now for? Who knows.

Anyway, my car has been "In Production" with a VIN according to the website since about August 21st, but that's literally all I know. My SA hasn't provided me with any information other than "I will tell you when it's ready." I'm envious of some of you with SAs who are actually willing to relay internal information.

I’m sorry you’re going through this but I mean come on, this is nothing new. Any brand that has come out with a new EV in the last decade has not been produced on time. Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, Hummer EV and others have always been delayed. Model 3, super late. Rivian did a price hike, then lowered, then hiked again, let people cut the line by changing configurations. None of this is new. I was late to the Rivian party and got a car within 12 months of ordering back in 2022 versus people that put a deposit down in 2018. Imagine waiting 4 years for a car! I’m late to the Lucid Gravity party, put an order in beginning of April this year and I should be getting mine within 30 days because I conceded on my configuration. If you need a car now, go to a dealership. But if you want one of these high tech brand spanking new EV’s that having patience goes a long way. They’re first and foremost a business. If they built cars in a sequential order starting at 1 based on everyone’s different order they wouldn’t make it as a mass market company. Pagani on the other hand can produce cars in sequential order based on customer preferences but that’s just how it goes for a 2 million dollar car.
I spoke yesterday and today with my Lucid SA. He says he has confirmed my DE is produced and is in the Post Production phase. I think it might be called PDI. I don’t know what that means for time left, but it is the last step before it can be put on a truck. But i understand that can be quite some time before it actually gets delivered. So i will keep you posted and provide pictures as early as possible.

Yeah. I got the same email. It looks like they probably sent this version to DE order holders, and the "contact your SA" version in case someone wants to get on a wait-list for orphans.

I like the “from this moment forward, we will keep you informed” part for those who ordered GDE. Nice backwards way of acknowledging there’s been little/no communication up to now.

I spoke with my SA today, and he told me my GGT is at the Arizona plant sitting outside awaiting shipment, but the portal still shows ‘In Production.’ When I asked how long before it ships, he said there’s no ETA — not even a ballpark. I’m not sure if he’s just telling me the car is ready to make me feel better, or if it’s actually finished. I’ve been asking for an ETA since it went "In Production".
I am located in NJ.

I was told on mine that the conservative timeline (to ship to millbrae and get inspected) was 2-4 weeks from the gate. I think it will show was in production until it arrives at the service center but could be wrong.

Congrats!!!

I am in SC so will pick mine up in Roswell, GA as well!
I also live in SC. If possible, when either of you takes delivery, please pm me and I would like to come look at your new Gravity at a neutral site

I've been in the same boat for a week. My SA says there is a bottleneck with getting cars shipped from the factory to the service center. One thing to keep in mind is end of month. If the car gets delivered by Sept 30th then the government foots the $7500 EV credit. If they miss that date and in runs into October then Lucid foots the bill. I think you are going to see a whole lot of deliveries that last week of the month.

If they’re actually ready to ship all those cars in the flyovers, then I am not surprised there’s a bottleneck. That, alone, would be a logistics mess given how many they have…

Thank you. I was told the car still need to go through inspection in their delivery hub in PA, before reaches NJ Studio for the pick up.

I have the same issue. My car has been ready to ship since Aug 15. So far no idea when it will ship. Not knowing has been frustrating. I believe your dashboard changes to Preparing for delivery once it arrives at your local service centre...
