Gravity Delivery Discussion

You said Frunk question but then said trunk? Which is it? Is it the interior screen button responding this way or exterior trunk button or frunk manual button? I’m compiling a list of issues in the bugs thread so specifics would be helpful. The TRUNK in the Air’s exterior button to close the trunk on the inside of the trunk lid will sense a too firm press as an attempt to stop it from closing, that is by design, so just wanted to make sure that is not what you’re describing.
For me, no matter which way I try, it's always two button presses.

So I got the midsize wheels. Was delivered with the the caps but no covers.

Yeah honestly that sucks and it’s such a stupid problem. I have no doubt they’re scrambling to resolve this and it’s great they responded to you so quickly. My experience with Lucid service has always been spectacular, so that’s helped me tolerate the glitches/failures. Keep us posted if there’s anymore key issues, wonder if there’s something with that software where it doesn’t recognize fob correctly once the vehicle has been delivered and owner officially registered to it in the system instead of Lucid. It would explain why @hmp10 Gravity GPS isn’t recognizing his location, like something isn’t completing the transfer of the vehicle from Lucid to the owner.
Yeah, I think that’s a smart take.

received my Black GGT today
good delivery experience
minimal issues on 2 ½ drive home
I am so happy for you and so damned jealous as that's the one we ordered too. Mine still says "order confirmed" even though it was ordered in early February. Hopeful......

I got the text this evening that I've been waiting for.

My SA texted me to let me know my Gravity is through production and headed to Tysons.
Should be ready for pickup in early August.

A couple of logistical request I made, that may benefit some:
  1. As mentioned in a previous post, I don't want to drive the car the approximately 100 miles from Tysons to my house, so I've asked if the car can be delivered to the Mechanicsville SC that is across town from me. They have to do the inspection at Tysons. My SA is going to talk with the delivery team to find out what's possible. Delivery to home is possible; with cost, as some already know. SA will follow up with me tomorrow.
  2. I would like the aero covers removed at Tysons and the center caps installed. If not, I'd like to be billed for the caps and have them placed in the car for me to install myself.
An FYI for those of you in states that require a front license plate, but are not having the license plate frame put on at the factory; they are required by law to provide the front license plate frame, so it will be placed in the car at time of delivery.

One final bit of info to give perspective to those accepting orphans recently:

My SA offered me this car when I texted her on July 10. My dashboard immediately went to "In Production" and the VIN showed in my dashboard.
When I asked how long to delivery, she said "I'll give you the standard 30-45 days response", but she also didn't know how long it had been in production.
She said today that the car came out of production yesterday. She usually gets a message when a car is through production. Not this time. She was checking the status of her customers' orders and saw today that mine was completed yesterday and ready for transport. Going with the completely unrealistic premise that production started the Monday (7/7) before I texted her and excluding weekends, July 7- 23 is thirteen weekdays. Obviously the car was not built in 13 days. So, if you are offered a car already in production, there's no telling how long it's been "in production".

I had a clue today that something was up.
A pickup location showed in my dashboard. Hadn't been there before.
I saw it today when I signed in and was looking through the Lucid store.
I resisted the urge to text my SA and then she texted me this evening.
Did your change to “in production” as soon as you accepted the orphaned car? Just asking coz I accepted one on July 16. I got a confirmation email with the new config. But my dashboard still says order confirmed. My SA gave me a 4 week estimated delivery time. So far I have heard a peep from anyone.

Sorry. Frunk, this is for the frunk. I haven't really used the trunk.

This is on the interior screens or using the fob.

Does anyone knows how the delivery happens? I reserved a gravity white but i'm in between moving from NY to FL and not sure if i will be here or there when the car delivers, i'd love to drive from NY to FL, but if it comes after my move i prefer it delivered in florida... do you know when is the last moment possible to pick the delivery place?

Ah ok. My Air actually does that sometimes too, first tap it opens but catches, second tap it opens all the way. I’m on my 3rd set of frunk latches but at least these close reliably every time so that’s all I care about, otherwise the car won’t let you drive. I’m sure it’s either a very slightly off alignment or overly sensitive sensor.

Yes.
Changed to "in production" same day I accepted the orphaned car.

Thanks! Hope I don't have to use this but also grateful so I don't freak out of I do. First EV, it's going to be an interesting adventure.
As a long time Tesla owner I’ll just say it’s like every other software driven device, once in awhile it needs a reboot. I do it with my car, my iPhone, iPad and even my Sony TV!

All the talk of different statuses is making me a little nervous haha.

I picked up an orphan VIN (black GGT, middle wheels, no power or HUD) on July 5th. Was told car finished production on June 28. Status immediately went to "In production".

A week later that car was deemed "unsellable", so SA (who's been very communicative) found a second orphan (exact same config) which was already in Goose Island. Status immediately went to "Prep for Delivery". Was told it would go through PDI in Goose Island and transfer in a few days, so I kicked off loan applications.

Now, two weeks later, vehicle still sitting in Goose Island. When I click for VIN details, I'm still not able to see any software updates (which I think means it still hasn't even passed PDI?). Now told that PDI will happen in Plainview. 😰😰😰

Ordered black/stealth GGT in the first hours of orders opening last November. Fully loaded. Changed to power pack when the HUD became an issue. Eventually opened a DE order in same black configuration. Still waiting on both/either. Once went to “in production” but I was later told it was a Canada VIN and couldn’t be sold to me. Have had a few chances at orphans that didn’t meet my spec but haven’t found one that worked for me yet.

You know that song “say something I’m giving up on you?”

On my Model S Teslas the lugs were covered with plastic chrome cap. I replaced the lugs with solid chrome lugs on both cars. I just think plastic caps are cheesy on a 100k+ car. Just my opinion.

I've ordered the Lucid Wheel Center Cap kit through my SA.
The invoice for the kit will be sent to me before delivery of my Gravity and the service center doing the PDI has agreed to install them and put the aero covers inside the car.

For the cost, I'd like to believe they are made of genuine chrome, but not sure.

OK - so here are the pictures of the trailer hitch and the electrical plug. This is not a particularly easy trailer hitch to install - if you use this frequently you will likely begin to hate the engineer that designed this - honestly very challenging to get this installed.
I put a trailer tow ball into the receiver - and guess what? It doesn't fit correctly. My trailer hitch worked on the Tesla Cybertruck and a Porsche Cayenne I had before - it fit perfectly in these cars - in the Lucid receiver it DOES NOT FIT. Great - so likely will now need to buy a new ball or even better use my new R1S which is made for towing. Based on my experience here I would likely never use the Gravity to tow - it is a royal pain compared to every other car/SUV/truck I have ever used. This is a great passenger car - towing - in a pinch maybe - but not the best option.
If you look at the picture with the ball in the receiver you can see that the holes do NOT line up (IMG_6410). The receiver is not deep enough to take the ball I have....
lol this starts to sound really bad.....
Yeah, it's almost identical to the one I received for my now departed Model X. I really only used it a couple of times. Had grand plans, but the downforce limit (I think 150lbs) dashed my hopes of using it for a couple of heavy eBikes, because the downforce limit INCLUDES the weight of the bike rack. So a quality bike rack x 2 heavy eBikes put me over 150. I managed to shave some weight off the bikes by removing parts to get the total rack / x2 bike weight just under 150lb, but it was a pain to have to reinstall those parts when I got to my destination. I didn't want to sink more time and money into buying and experimenting with an even lighter bike rack, so I gave up on using the X to haul the bikes.

The hitch for the Gravity will probably go unused too. Filed under "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it."

How responsive have your SAs been? Mine takes 2 to 3 days to respond to me every time I message her.

If your DE "entered" production on July 11 that guestimate of end of July or mid-August sounds a bit agressive to me.
However, perhaps your SA knows something more than mine knew.

My SA said 30-45 days (6 - 9 weeks) to delivery, from the day (July 10) she found mine.
Because she did not know exactly when it entered production, I went with the premise that production for my car started the week (July 7 - 11) that my SA found my car.
That equated to August 15 and September 5 as the dates for production being completed.
With all that has to be done after production, I wasn't expecting to hear anything until late Sept/mid-Oct.
With production of my car being completed on July 23, I seriously doubt production started the week of July 7 - 11.
I think the car had been in production for several weeks. Perhaps not.

Unable to see manual or software updates.
Getting an error message.

My SA just txted me my car finished production and is awaiting transport! So 7/11 - 7/26 is the production time - maybe they've gotten efficient at making DE's. Lets see how much time from transport to delivery takes.

That sucks bc I was hoping too to be able to get a bike rack and haul our ebikes with the Gravity. At the very least, it seems it won't be possible with that hitch. Maybe in future there will be a good solution that comes to market...
