Gravity Bugs / Issues

Frozen handles is not unique. Notch EV just posted about him having similar issue. And defrost of cabin did not fix. He had to do a bunch of poking and prodding to get handles loose. Remote activation of defrost assumes you have available connection to your vehicle. With me, remote connection is unavailable about 20% of the time that I have tried.

Agreed. I don’t notice it as much now and it’s “fine”. They’ll figure it out at some point.

I’d prefer they figure out how to get my drunk to not need to “double open”. Two fixes so far and it still reverts to this behavior. Again, not a huge issue.
until the day it breaks for good and the car won't go over 13mph. Make service fix it.

The door is insulated. Defrosting and heating interior doesn’t impact the door handles, in my experience. Just have to proactively clear snow or ice from handles before it can stick.

Unfortunately, they do not appear to have put any sort of heating element on handles. It’s interesting because in the Gravity videos they show them doing testing in Alaska or something, so I would have guessed they encountered handle and window issues, unless it was simply performance testing.

I suppose the purchase of the Gravity cover is not considered a solution because of the effort and possibly the frequency of that effort, depending on the climate, to use the cover?

Cordless hair dryer or pouring warm water not options? Controlled use of dryer can't be worse than sun exposure? Warm water intrusion can't be worse than normal rain or car wash?

Common on my older Tesla with presenting the handle. I prefer the old fashioned isopropyl alcohol/water spray bottle to date.

IPA freezes at -89 C, water freezes at 0 C. Mix them together and you get a freezing point somewhere in between.

Alcohol and water are kind of strange; water dissolves in alcohol and alcohol dissolves in water. In either situation, the alcohol interferes with the water molecules bonding with each other by either pulling them away from each other, or getting between them. Since the water can't form its crystalline structure, it can't form ice.

(It can, it just needs to be at a temperature where the alcohol freezes too, which is hard to sustain outdoors on this planet in too many places. This is also why alcohol is used in antifreeze.)

You’ve gotta be a bit careful though, so don’t go just pouring; alcohol will dry out plastics and can easily remove wax. If left on too long it will remove clear coat. Use it as needed, just be careful.

A tech drove the loaner GGT over to me yesterday and we walked through all of the issues on my list, which were all acknowledged and he thought they could all be addressed quickly (before our next road trip -- I assume they don't want me putting 3500 miles on their loaner). Other than the "one door color strip is different than the others" they all seemed to be things seen before. It's interesting what software issues they do and don't know about -- the tech was not familiar with the "profile corruption" issue many of us have run into, and also didn't know about the HERE Map Creator. (He said they have issues with people finding the showroom/service center, and would love to update the map data.)

Before pickup I received an e-sign for existing service campaigns, which were all things I hadn't seen before:

TSC-Y0725-002-01 CE/Hazardous Material Label
Concern: The High Voltage (HV) battery assembly may be missing a label.
Cause: The CE/Hazardous Material identification label was omitted during the HV battery assembly or handling process.

TSC-N0725-005-01 - Driver Side Hush Panel
Concern: The customer may experience reduced power.
Cause: The driver’s side hush panel may interfere with the brake pedal, preventing it from fully returning to its resting position. This can result in the
brake system remaining partially engaged, leading to a reduction in power.

TSC-N0925-008-01 Rear Door Rattle Noise - Sunblind
Concern: Perform TSC-N0925-008 Rear Door Rattle Noise - Sunblind.
Cause: A rattle noise may be present from the rear doors when closing the door.

Despite my complaints it seems to me like these June-delivery GDEs overall have a lot fewer issues than the summer-autumn ramp units, and Lucid is only now getting back to consistent manufacturing at scale.
I had the driver side hush panel, and rear door rattle noise / privacy screen campaigns done on my Gravity in September. Didn’t see anything about a missing HV Battery assembly label though. They *did* have to remove the entire battery assembly to replace my rear drive unit during that visit, so maybe it was caught then.

Thanks doc, we'll said. I just know it will almost instantly melt ice and snow. Spray bottle, 2 parts alcohol/1 part water. Easy to target, get into small areas, wipe off.

any solution for that second row squeaking? I have a squeak and is crazy when nobody's sitting in the 2nd row middle seat or the one right behind the driver. Otherwise it's squeak squeak squeak. I notice it does it when I move the 2nd row middle and/or the one behind the driver move with my own hands also
On this current holiday road trip I’m on, a squeaky rattle sound started coming from my unoccupied middle row, and it just about drove me nuts!! When we got to our destination, I folded the row completely flat and drove around town like that — noise completely gone. I raised the middle row seats back into sitting configuration, and drove a bit more — noise still gone. That was several days ago, and the sound hasn’t returned. Maybe articulating the seats like that (and driving) realigned things?🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve used the “pour some hot tap water on it” trick on both the Gravity and a previous Model S. Works every time on the handles.

True, ppl commonly put salt in water to raise the boiling pt (like for pasta) but is also depresses the freezing point below 32F. Alcohol is even better at lowering the temp needed to freeze the mixture

That requires you have sufficient amount of hot water...any less and it will just freeze to the ice already there and make a bigger ice blob

Pee works too...jus' saying (I know...ewww

I don't have the issue, but just seems like a "natural" solution. Better than risking damage to door mechanisms.

This has happened to me multiple times. I’m leaving it squeaking now so Lucid can hear it when they come out. This will be the 3rd time to try and fix the second row as the last time they couldn’t replicate as I moved the seats just before the service and it stopped.

Moving the seats fixes it but it always comes back.

Hope your evidence is anecdotal and not empirical 🤣

So this happens about 25% of the time. Enter the car, Half the Clearview is booted, other half is the Bear logo. After 20 to 30 seconds The other half of Clearview and the Pilot panel boot. Still no entry accommodation ( seat/squircle). Check to find the profile is Guest. I keep my fob battery fresh, 3.2.20

I know this is going to rub many people the wrong way - I understand the vehicle has problems, I know, I know - but, for things such as easy entry/exit, DDP, HVAC controls, app not connecting - isn't it probably easier and would certainly use less emotional energy to just put up with these sorts of problems until the next software issue is released?

Hardware issues, I understand - only the SC can fix a steering wheel - but, if the easy entry system doesn't start working after a reset, perhaps it simply isn't going to work until it is addressed in a future software update and you should turn it off.

It seems to me that the more exotic features such as HUD, DDP, Vibes, the frunk taking two tries to open ("Oh my!") Dolby Atmos, etc. are simply not dialed in yet - by the way, these are first world problems - so perhaps our voices could be best spent describing the issues that affect our everyday use of the vehicle - fob eating batteries, windows that don't go up, screens that go black while driving.

Please don't slam me for having an opinion, but feel free to describe what your opinion is on what Lucid could do to best allow its existing customers to have full faith and confidence that the car will do the simplest of things - get me safely and reliably to my destination and back.

It appears that the forum has attained enough credibility to be considered important by Lucid employees - let's give them some concrete, prioritized things that affect our daily lives. It worked with my Polestar, I'm even more convinced it will work with Lucid.

Just sayin'...

Happy New Year everyone and, Dream Ahead!

This is 100 spot on.

And why the HUD is off for me. I just go through all the features when I first got the car in case it is a HW issue ( ie if HUD was totally bricked ) and then try out things here and there especially if a SW update is supposed to fix/improve things.
